omentábamos hace un año, cuando la COVID 19 nos tenía a todos sumidos en la incertidumbre y preocupación, que a pesar de todo la vida seguía adelante. Y que, desde Puerto Portals, priorizando siempre la seguridad de nuestros visitantes, la marina quería ser un gran dinamizador que aportara toda la normalidad posible a una situación tan delicada. Ahora que parece que volvemos a ver la luz, nos sentimos orgullosos de haber luchado para aportar nuestro granito de arena y haber cuidado de nuestros clientes con todas las garantías que los protocolos sanitarios exigían. Quiero agradecer de corazón a todos los locales del Puerto por haber mantenido encendida la llama en momentos realmente difíciles. Si seguimos haciendo las cosas bien, este año será sensiblemente mejor que el anterior. Durante este verano, y a lo largo del año próximo, podremos cosechar los frutos de nuestro trabajo y esfuerzo realizado, gracias a las buenas acciones que hemos llevado a cabo juntos en busca del mismo objetivo. También quiero destacar el trabajo de nuestro equipo de profesionales, que hacen todo lo que está en sus manos para que el impacto de la pandemia sea el mínimo posible a todos los niveles. Y, por supuesto, quiero dar las gracias a todos los clientes y visitantes de Puerto Portals que, con su apoyo y presencia constantes, llenan de vida y alegría la marina. Es momento de que todos sigamos manteniendo la responsabilidad. Porque juntos lo conseguiremos y seguiremos viviendo experiencias únicas.

year ago, when COVID 19 had plunged us all into a state of uncertainty and anxiety, we said that in spite of everything, life goes on. And that at Puerto Portals, with the safety of our visitors a priority at all times, the marina aspired to be a great revitalizing force that would bring as much normality as possible to what had been a very delicate situation. Now that it seems we can see light at the end of the tunnel again, we feel proud to have striven to do our little bit, looking after our customers with all the guarantees the health protocols demanded. I would like to thank all the businesses in the Port from the bottom of my heart for keeping the flame burning in truly difficult times. If we continue to do things right, this year will be substantially better than the last one. Over this summer, and throughout all of next year, we will be able to reap the rewards of our labour and all of our efforts, thanks to the good work we have carried out together, in pursuit of the same goal. I would also like to highlight the work of our team of professionals, who are doing everything in their power to ensure the impact of the pandemic is as minimal as possible on all levels. And of course, I want to thank all of our customers and visitors who, with their constant presence and support, fill up the marina with life. Now is the time to keep up our responsible behaviour. Because together, we can accomplish this, and carry on living out unique experiences.

Da in Puerto Portals die Sicherheit unserer Kunden und Gäste immer an oberster Stelle steht, hatten wir uns vorgenommen, auch in dieser schwierigen Situation ein Stückchen Normalität zu schaffen. Jetzt, wo wir Licht am Ende des Tunnels sehen, sind wir stolz darauf, dass auch wir, durch die strikte Einhaltung der notwendigen Hygienemaßnahmen, unseren kleinen Teil dazu beitragen konnten. Ich möchte mich bei allen Geschäften in Puerto Portals von ganzem Herzen dafür bedanken, dass sie in diesen schweren Zeiten nicht nur durchgehalten, sondern auch immer die Fahne hochgehalten haben. Wenn wir weiterhin so gut zusammenhalten, wird dieses Jahr definitiv besser werden als das vorherige. In diesem Sommer und im gesamten Jahr, das noch vor uns liegt, können wir nun die Früchte unserer Arbeit ernten – unsere gemeinsamen Anstrengungen und die Zusammenarbeit auf dieses Ziel hin haben sich gelohnt. Un recorrido sumerge a los más pequeños en el cuento infantil ¡Fuera plásticos!, de la autora Line Hadsbjerg e ilustrado por Kate Louisa John en colaboración con la asociación Clean Wave, con el objetivo de concienciar a las nuevas generaciones de la importancia de ser sostenible, reutilizar, reciclar y sobre todo, ser respetuoso con el medioambiente. El rincón del artista contará con la exposición de la obra de Marina Pipkin, artista mallorquina que colabora con la asociación ONG Naüm. También la asociación Mallorca Sense Fam estará presente un año más, con el objetivo de recaudar fondos para cubrir las necesidades de las personas que se encuentran en riesgo de exclusión social.

A SPACE FOR THE YOUNGEST MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY. Children are immersed in the story “Out of plastic” written by Line Hadsbjerg and illustrated by Kate Louisa John in collaboration with the association Clean Wave, with the aim of raising awareness among the younger generations of the importance of being sustainable, re-using, recycling and above all, being respectful of the environment. The artist’s corner will feature an exhibition of the work of Marina Pipkin, a Mallorcan artist who collaborates with the NGO association Naüm. And the association Mallorca Sense Fam will be present for yet another year, with the aim of collecting funds to cover the needs of people at risk of social exclusion.

Bei den jüngeren Generationen soll so das Bewusstsein für Nachhaltigkeit, Wiederverwertung und Recycling, vor allem aber auch für einen respektvollen Umgang mit der Umwelt geweckt werden. In der Künstlerecke stellt die mallorquinische Künstlerin Marina Pipkin ihre Werke aus, die mit dem gemeinnützigen Verein Naüm zusammenarbeitet. Auch der Verein Mallorca Sense Fam ist wieder vertreten, um Spenden für von sozialer Ausgrenzung bedrohte Menschen zu sammeln.

uerto Portals acoge entre el 22 y el 28 de agosto la Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week & TP52 20th Anniversary Invitational. La regata, conocida como la Fórmula 1 del mar, inaugura la temporada en aguas de la bahía de Palma con la celebración del veinte aniversario de la clase TP52, que fue creada en Estados Unidos en el año 2000. Diecisiete embarcaciones darán el pistoletazo de salida en una cita que cuenta con tripulaciones internacionales de primer nivel, historia viva de la vela que atrae cada año a un centenar de periodistas y amantes de este deporte. Este será el décimo año que los TP52 amarren en los pantalanes de Puerto Portals, seis años con la organización de 52 Super Series, y los cuatro anteriores durante la temporada de 2005 a 2008 en el circuito MedCup. Tp52 20th Anniversary Invitational es una iniciativa conjunta de 52 SS y del manager de la clase, Rob Weiland, para rendir homenaje a los barcos y a los armadores que durante 20 años han competido alrededor del mundo.

rom 22nd to 28th August Puerto Portals will be hosting the Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week & TP52 20th Anniversary Invitational. The regatta known as the F1 of the sea inaugurates the season in the waters of the bay of Palma, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the TP52 class, which was created in the United States in the year 2000. Seventeen vessels will mark the beginning of an event in which top international crews take part, the living history of sailing, an event which attracts around a hundred journalists and sailing enthusiasts every year. This year will be the tenth with the TP52s moored at the jetties of Puerto Portals: six years with the organisation of the 52 Super Series, and the four previous years during the 2005 2008 seasons on the MedCup circuit. Tp52 20 th Anniversary Invitational is a joint initiative of 52 SS and the Class Manager, Rob Weiland, to pay tribute to the boats and owners who have competed around the world for 20 years. Der Yachthafen feiert mit der Saisoneröffnung in der Bucht von Palma gleichzeitig das zwanzigjährige Jubiläum der TP52-Klasse, die im Jahr 2000 in den USA aus der Taufe gehoben wurde. An den Start gehen siebzehn Yachten mit internationaler Weltklasse-Besatzung, die weiterhin Segelgeschichte schreiben – wie jedes Jahr begleitet von Hunderten von Journalisten und Segelbegeisterten. Dieses Jahr starten die Yachten der TP52-Klasse zum zehnten Mal von Puerto Portals: Zum sechsten Mal in Folge ist der Yachthafen Gastgeber der 52 Super Series; in den vier Jahren zuvor, von 2005 bis 2008, traten die TP52-Crews hier beim MedCup Circuit gegeneinander an. MODERNOS Y CLÁSICOS. La regata va a ser muy especial, ya que supone la primera vez que los barcos inscritos comparten pantalán y campo de regatas con otros Tp52 de anteriores generaciones. Entre ellos habrá dos españoles: el Aifos y el Blue Carbon. En total habrá participantes de 11 países diferentes y cuatro continentes, incluyendo una buena representación de regatistas que estuvieron en la Copa América de Nueva Zelanda este invierno. Entre ellos Terry Hutchinson, que vuelve a Quantum; Vasco Vascotto, fichaje estrella de Bronenosec; y Dean Barker, que se sube al Interlodge.

MODERN AND CLASSIC. The regatta will be very special indeed, because it is the first time the boats registered will be sharing the jetty and the regatta field with other TP52s from previous generations. They include two Spanish vessels: the Aifos and the Blue Carbon. The participants come from a total of 11 different countries and four continents, including a good range of racers who took part in the New Zealand America’s Cup last winter. Among them are Terry Hutchinson, who returns to Quantum; Vasco Vascotto, the star signing for Bronenosec; and Dean Barker, who will be on board the Interlodge.

El nuevo aparcamiento cuenta con diez puntos de recarga eléctrica, lo que sumará unos 30 puntos en todo el puerto, algunos de ellos de carga súper rápida.

This zone will have 30 commercial premises dedicated to leisure and port services, as well as the 180 spaces in the underground car park. “We have also installed a smart fountain in these buildings, designed to perform a water, light and sound show”, says Álvaro Irala, the captain of Puerto Portals. The new car park has ten electric vehicle charging points, which will make a total of 30 points throughout the port, some of them super-fast charging stations.

Zu den 180 Tiefgaragenplätzen kommen über 30 neue Räumlichkeiten für Freizeit- und Hafendienstleistungen hinzu. „Hier haben wir auch einen intelligenten Springbrunnen speziell für Wasser-, Licht- und Soundshows vorgesehen“, verrät der Geschäftsführer von Puerto Portals, Álvaro Irala. Das neue Parkhaus ist mit den zehn Elektroladesäulen ausgestattet, so dass der Hafen insgesamt über 30 Ladesäulen – einige davon mit superschneller Ladetechnik – verfügen wird.

EL RINCÓN DEL ARQUITECTO

MÁS SOSTENIBLES CADA DÍA. El agua es un bien escaso, no es ilimitado. Por eso, Puerto Portals ha construido “tanques de tormentas que están bajo tierra para almacenar toda el agua de lluvia posible, y así destinarla a riego y baldeo de embarcaciones. Conseguiremos ahorrar un 20% del consumo de agua de red, protegiendo así los recursos naturales de la isla”, asegura Irala. Puerto Portals contribuye a conservar y proteger el entorno marino y ambiental de la isla con la implantación de un sistema de gestión para reducir la huella de carbono, compensando con campañas de limpieza de protección y cuidado del fondo marino, de la posidonia y la reducción de plásticos. Todas estas acciones se encuentran dentro del certificado EMAS, una herramienta que permite evaluar, mejorar y dar a conocer su comportamiento ambiental, expedido por la Lloyd’s Register. NUEVAS OBRAS PREVISTAS. Después del verano, Puerto Portals mejorará, remodelará y sustituirá los pantalanes. “Esta obra supondrá un reto muy importante en cuanto a organización y logística, ya que el Puerto seguirá 100% operativo durante las obras”, asegura el capitán. Además, se realizarán obras en el acceso al contradique y en la torre de capitanía, con un incremento en el número de plazas de aparcamiento y zonas verdes, haciendo de Puerto Portals un destino cada día más seguro y accesible.

MORE SUSTAINABLE EVERY DAY. Water is a scarce commodity, not an unlimited resource. Which is why Puerto Portals has constructed “underground storm tanks to store as much rainwater as possible, to be used for watering and washing down boats. We will manage to make a 20% saving on mains’ water consumption, protecting the island’s natural resources”, Irala confirms. Puerto Portals contributes to conserving and protecting the island’s marine and environmental surroundings through implantation of a management system to reduce its carbon footprint, compensating with campaigns for protective cleaning and care of the seabed and Posidonia oceanica, and a reduction in plastics. All of these actions fall within the EMAS certificate, a tool that enables the port to assess, improve and publicise its environmental behaviour, and which is issued by Lloyd’s Register. NEW WORK PLANNED. After the summer, Puerto Portals will improve, restructure and replace the jetties. “This work will represent a significant challenge in terms of organisation and logistics, because the Port will continue to be 100% operational while the work is carried out”, says the captain. In addition, work will be carried out on the access to the outer harbour and the captaincy tower, with an increase in the number of parking spaces and green areas, making Puerto Portals a destination that is safer and more accessible on a daily basis.

ZUNEHMEND NACHHALTIGER. Wasser ist ein knappes Gut, das nicht unbegrenzt zur Verfügung steht. Deshalb wurden in Puerto Portals „unterirdische Regenwasserspeicher gebaut, um so viel Regenwasser wie möglich aufzufangen und es zur Bewässerung und zum Reinigen der Boote zu nutzen. So werden wir den Leitungswasserverbrauch um 20% reduzieren und damit die natürlichen Ressourcen der Insel schonen“, versichert Irala. Mit der Einführung eines Umweltmanagementsystems zur Verringerung des CO2-Fußabdrucks durch Sauberkeitsaktionen zum Schutz und zur Pflege des Meeresbodens, des Neptungrases und zur Reduzierung von Plastik trägt Puerto Portals zum Erhalt und Schutz der Umwelt des Meeres und der Insel bei. All diese Maßnahmen sind zentrale Elemente von EMAS, einem von Lloyd‘s Register ausgestellten Instrument zur Bewertung, Verbesserung und öffentlichen Darstellung der Umweltleistung von Unternehmen. NEUE ARBEITEN IN PLANUNG. Nach dem Sommer werden in Puerto Portals die Bootsstege ausgebessert, umgestaltet und erneuert. „Das wird uns vor große organisatorische und logistische Herausforderungen stellen, da der Hafenbetrieb während der gesamten Bauzeit komplett aufrechterhalten wird“, bestätigt Irala. Darüber hinaus werden im Zuge der Arbeiten am Zugang zum Vordamm und am Torre de Capitanía die Parkplätze und Grünflächen erweitert, so dass Puerto Portals zusehends sicherer und besser zugänglich wird.

La Escuela de Vela de Puerto Portals es un lugar magnífico para iniciar este camino hacia el bienestar. En ella ofrecen cursos de verano para todas las edades con las máximas garantías sanitarias, ya que, como el año pasado, los alumnos siguen viniendo de una forma escalonada para que no hayan aglomeraciones y que todo se haga más ordenadamente. La gran novedad de este año es la diferenciación en tres grupos diferentes de edades. El curso de iniciación está enfocado a niños de 8 a 10 años que podrán disfrutar de la piragua, el paddle surf y la vela de una forma lúdica. En el intermedio se practica lo mismo, el rango de edad es de 8 a 14, pero la diferencia es que en este grupo los niños deben tener conocimientos de vela. Y el último está pensado para adolescentes que ya saben navegar. Con estos cursos, los participantes pueden disfrutar de actividades por la mañana, luego descansan a mediodía y luego vuelven a lanzarse al mar. Los niños pueden disfrutar durante más tiempo, ya que lo normal es acabar a las 14.00, mientras que en la Escuela de Vela se termina a las 16.00 o a las 16.30.

The Puerto Portals Sailing School is a wonderful place to set out on this path to wellbeing. It offers summer courses for all ages with maximum health guarantees, because just like last year, entry of the students is staggered so that no crowds form, and to ensure everything is done in a more ordered fashion. The big novelty this year is that students are divided into three different age groups. The beginner’s course is focussed on children aged 8 to 10 who will be able to enjoy recreational canoeing, paddle surfing and sailing. ómo decidió venir a Mallorca? Trabajaba como instructor de buzo en Australia. Allí conocí a Bea, nos enamoramos y empezamos a vivir juntos. Más tarde ella me dijo que quería regresar a España. Y aunque sea de Pamplona, decidimos instalarnos en Mallorca porque es uno de los ecosistemas más sanos del Mediterráneo. ¿Cuándo fundó Save the Med, junto a Gabriel Morey? Cuando llegué a Mallorca quería bucear con tiburones. Contacté con Gabriel Morey, que es biólogo marino, y me dijo que aquí ya no quedaban. Entonces buceé durante tres meses con rayas (especie emparentada con el tiburón) y me quedé impresionado porque nunca había visto tantas como aquí. Pusimos en marcha la Asociación Ondine en 2012, y a base de investigaciones y colaboraciones con entidades locales, en 2019 se unieron a Save the Med. ¿Qué es Save the Med? Es una fundación que quiere un Mar Mediterráneo limpio y saludable. Queremos que los ecosistemas locales se recuperen, educamos para reducir el uso de plásticos e investigamos para conocer más sobre las especies más vulnerables del Mediterráneo y así protegerlas. Suena muy fácil, pero es muy complicado. ¿Qué errores cometemos que luego repercuten en el mar? El más importante es el consumismo. Nuestra sociedad se enfoca en consumir, más que cualquier otra generación que haya existido en la historia de la humanidad. Este es el mayor error que cometemos tanto como comunidades locales como nacionales e internacionales. Trabajamos, básicamente, para comprar

hy did you decide to come to Mallorca? I was working as a diving instructor in Australia. I met Bea there, and we fell in love and started living together. Later on she told me she wanted to come back to Spain. And even though she is from Pamplona, we decided to settle on Mallorca because it’s one of the healthiest ecosystems in the Mediterranean. When did you found Save the Med, with Gabriel Morey? When I came to Mallorca I wanted to dive with sharks. I contacted Gabriel Morey, a marine biologist, and he told me there weren’t any left. So I went diving with rays (a species related to sharks) for three months and I was impressed because I had never seen as many as there are here. We set up the Ondine Association in 2012, and based on research and collaboration with local entities, in 2019 they came together as Save the Med. What is Save the Med? Save the Med is a foundation that wants a clean, healthy Mediterranean Sea. We want local ecosystems to recover, we educate people to reduce the use of plastics and we conduct research to find out more about the most vulnerable species in the Mediterranean and protect them. It sounds very easy, but it’s actually quite complicated. What mistakes are we making that go on to have repercussions on the sea? The most important one is consumerism. Our society is focussed on consuming, more than in any other generation that has existed in the history of humankind. This is the biggest mistake we are making, both as local and as national and international communities. PUERTO 33 PORTALS

Auf Mallorca wollte ich mit Haien tauchen und nahm Kontakt zu dem Meeresbiologen Gabriel Morey auf. Er sagte mir, dass es hier keine Haie mehr gibt. Also tauchte ich drei Monate lang mit Rochen (eine mit Haien verwandte Art) und war beeindruckt –noch nie hatte ich so viele gesehen wie hier! 2012 haben wir die Asociación Ondine gegründet. Die Zusammenarbeit und gemeinsame Forschung mit hiesigen Organisationen führte im Jahr 2019 zur Gründung von Save the Med. Was ist Save the Med? Estoy seguro de que cada ser humano tiene una conexión con el mar, y si las personas pasaran más tiempo en el agua, todas sentirían la misma conexión que yo siento. ¿Qué diferencias hay entre bucear en Australia y en Mallorca? Bucear en el Mar de Coral significa ver paisajes espectaculares desde cualquier lugar. En cambio, en Mallorca debes conocer el ecosistema y la fauna marina. Sé de muchas personas que vienen a bucear aquí y que no esperan casi nada, pero cuando salen del agua afirman que es lo mejor que han visto.

We basically work to buy things, and this is a very unhealthy, unbalanced way of life. What does the sea mean to you? It is a calm, relaxing, special place. I am certain that every human being has a connection to the sea, and if people spent more time in the water, they would all feel the same connection that I do. What are the differences between diving in Australia and in Mallorca? Diving in the Coral Sea means seeing spectacular landscapes from anywhere. In Mallorca, by contrast, you have to know the ecosystem and the marine fauna. I know of a lot of people who come to dive here and don’t expect to see hardly anything, but when they come out of the water they say it’s the best they’ve ever seen.

Beim Tauchen im Korallenmeer sieht man überall spektakuläre Landschaften, aber in Mallorca muss man das Ökosystem und die Meeresfauna kennen. Ich weiß, dass viele zum Tauchen hierherkommen und fast nichts erwarten, aber wieder zurück an Land sagen sie, sie hätten nie etwas Schöneres gesehen.

Fue el rey Carlos II de Inglaterra (1630-1685) quien, tras sentir el poder de la brisa marina en una travesía, decidió convertir la vela en deporte, poniendo la semilla de las grandes regatas a nivel mundial que conocemos hoy. Durante sus años de exilio en los Países Bajos, el monarca solía navegar por placer en un jaghte holandés de 16 metros de eslora, bautizado con el nombre de Mary. Cuando se volvió a proclamar la monarquía y Carlos II empezó a navegar por la costa británica, los nobles ingleses quisieron imitarlo y empezaron a construir sus yates, disfrutando del contacto con el mar. Así fue como, entre Greenwich y Gravesend, en el río Támesis, se disputó la primera regata de la historia a finales del siglo XVII, entre los navíos de Carlos II y el de su hermano, el duque de York. hile sailing has existed for thousands of years as a means of transporting people and goods, it was only a few centuries ago that it began to be seen as a recreational activity. King Charles II of England (1630-1685) was the person who, feeling the power of the sea breeze during a voyage, decided to turn sailing into a sport, planting the seed for the great international regattas we have today. During his years of exile in the Netherlands, the king would sail a 16-metre Dutch jaght, christened with the name of Mary. When Charles returned to proclaim the monarchy, he started sailing along the British coast, and the English aristocrats wanted to imitate him. They began building their own yachts, enjoying the contact with the sea. And this was how the first regatta in history took place on the River Thames between Greenwich and Gravesend, in the late 17th century, between the yachts of Charles II and his brother, the Duke of York. THE ORIGINS OF THE AMERICA’S CUP. Two centuries would pass until the first big official regatta, the Queen’s Course, on 22nd August 1851. The competition consisted of racing around the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. Fourteen yachts from the Royal Yacht Squadron of London raced against the schooner America. On the day the America won and the race changed its name, conserving it to this very day in honour of the first victor. As a prize, the America received a silver ewer designed by the official jeweller to the royal household, Robert Garrard, valued at 100 golden guineas.

Crea telares con materiales primarios como la paja, “quiero reivindicar su belleza y cuidar la cultura milenaria de Mallorca”, dice. “Tener lana en casa es como tener un trozo de realidad en tus manos”. Además, Adriana tiene su propia marca de ropa, Odeminuí, con la que aspira a que la gente se sienta cómoda con prendas “súper elegantes, súper cómodas y lo más sostenibles posibles”. Adriana Meunié works both at her home in Ses Salines and her showroom in Felanitx. She creates fabrics using raw materials such as straw, “I want to advocate for its beauty and care for Mallorca’s ancient culture”, she says. “Having wool at home is like holding a little piece of reality in your hands”. Adriana also has her own brand of clothes, Odeminuí, through which she aims to satisfy people with garments that are “super elegant, super comfortable and as sustainable as they can be”. Tras ocho años trabajando para Camper, Irene Peukes lanzó junto a Araceli Iranzo los zapatos Pla Mallorca. Están hechos a mano con fibras de yute en Bangladesh, las artesanas van dando forma sobre la horma cosiendo a mano cada vuelta de trenza con la anterior y las van uniendo. Y en Mallorca se elabora la suela. También crean vestidos, blusas y complementos 100% de algodón, que tejen a mano en Guatemala. Arabella García diseña y produce mesitas inspirada en la isla, en sus paisajes y en sus pueblos, representándolos con diferentes formas y colores. Todas ellas, bajo el nombre Manduka Design, responden a una misma estética y materiales, una estructura metálica mínima, de líneas puras y baldosas hidráulicas de diseño contemporáneo, creadas de una forma artesanal y de kilómetro cero. En cuanto a Marta Armengol, estudió arquitectura y fundó un estudio en Barcelona junto a amigas suyas, pero no se sentía plena. LOS DIOSES DEL VIENTO Según la mitología griega, existían cuatro dioses buenos y cuatro dioses malos de los vientos, relacionados con los puntos cardinales. THE GODS OF THE WIND. La tripulación del barco de Ulises creyó que esa bolsa contenía oro, y al abrirla desataron tempestades. Finalmente, tuvieron que volver a Eolia a pedir ayuda de nuevo a Eolo. Por su parte, los Anemoi correspondían con los puntos cardinales: norte, sur, este, oeste por un lado, y noroeste, noreste, suroeste y sureste por el otro. La obsesión de los griegos con el bien y el mal hacía que siempre hubiera una distinción, por eso hay cuatro dioses buenos y cuatro malos. Los dioses buenos son hijos de Astreo y Eos, y se corresponden con los principales puntos cardinales. Boreas es el dios del viento norte, el del sur es Noto, Euro corresponde con el viento del este y Céfiro es el del viento del oeste. Y los vientos malos eran hijos de Tifón. El viento del noreste se llama Cecias, Apeliotes es el del sureste, Coro el del noroeste y Libis el del suroeste. Como curiosidad, del nombre Anemoi provienen los anemómetros, con los que hoy medimos la intensidad y la dirección del viento.

Stormy seas were a consequence of the anger of Poseidon, Ares supported the armies that pleased him the most and Zeus hurled lightning bolts during storms. The Anemoi, meanwhile, corresponded to the cardinal points: north, south, east and west on the one hand, and northwest, northeast, southwest and southeast on the other. The Greeks’ obsession with good and evil meant there always had to be a distinction, which is why there are four good gods and four malevolent gods. The good gods are the children of Astraeus and Eos, and they correspond to the main cardinal points.
