August 2015 Words from the Editor, Debbie Kokil Message from the President of the PRVA, Brian Vanderbeek. Hello everyone. I would like to thank everyone that came out to the information meeting with the RTB. It was great to see so many people attend. The presentation made by the RTB representatives had a lot of good information. I hope everyone went away with knowing more about the RTB and your rights. The questions from the residents were well received by the RTB. As a reminder, if you object to the proposed rent increase write a letter to the RTB stating your concerns. The address for the RTB is: The Residential Tenancies Branch 302-254 Edmonton St. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 3Y4 Residents, who have sent in their letter of objection, will receive a letter from the RTB shortly stating that they will be able to view the information sent in to justify the increase. I encourage everyone to go and view this information and if they have concerns, to write to the RTB expressing your concerns. The more information the RTB has, hopefully a good result will be in our favour. Remember we still have an appeal stage if the result is not satisfactory. There will be further details on the appeal stage when it is time to appeal the decision if we choose to do so.

PARADISE VILLAGE NEWS
And God Looked Down. . . Most seniors never get enough exercise. In His wisdom God decreed that seniors become forgetful so they would have to search for their glasses, keys, and other things thus doing more walking. And God looked down and saw that it was good. Then God saw there was another need. In His wisdom He made seniors lose coordination so they would drop things requiring them to bend, reach & stretch. And God looked down and saw that it was good. Then God considered the function of bladders and decided seniors would have additional calls of nature requiring more trips to the bathroom, thus providing more exercise. God looked down and saw that it was good. So if you find as you age, you are getting up and down more, remember its God's will. It is all in your best interest even though you mutter under your breath. God must love me a whole lot! He just keeps moving me up and down all day and back and forth to the bathroom all night long. Nine Important Facts To Remember As We Grow Older #9 Death is the number 1 killer in the world. #8 Life is sexually transmitted. #7 Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. #6 Men have 2 motivations: hunger and hanky-panky, and they can't tell them apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich. #5 Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks, months, maybe years. #4 Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital, dying of nothing. #3 All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism. #2 In the 60s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, and people take Prozac to make it normal. #1 Life is like a jar of jalapeno peppers. What you do today might burn your rear end tomorrow!

The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen w ere there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter. Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car.

They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately. The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent. The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, 'The Goldberg Air-Conditioner,' on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed.
Shirley Noel Lot 31 Lake Riviera Box 1093 Ste. Anne, MB R5H 1C1
The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Max, invented and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees.
Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Jewish, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords.

They haggled back and forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown. And so to this day, all Ford Air Conditioners show -Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max -- on the fan controls. Control yourself!

August 2015 The Legal Adventures of the Smith Family The Law Office of the Mona Jodoin Law Corporation has been asked to provide some insight into why Wills, Power of Attorney documents, and Health Care Directives are recommended. So, over the next few issues of this publication, to illustrate some of the things that could go wrong if you have not properly taken care of your health and wealth planning, I will be chronicling the series of unfortunate events that befall a fictional couple. Let’s name them John and Jane Smith for ease of reference. The stories will be based on real life cases that have been litigated throughout Canada and will help to inform you about the importance of health and wealth planning. I confirm that these are not stories about any person that I know, or that has been represented by the Mona Jodoin or the Mona Jodoin Law Corporation, but simply based upon a blend of reported fact scenarios in Manitoban and Canadian Case Law. The Need for a Power of Attorney John Smith and his wife Jane are 65 years old. They have three beautiful children in their 40’s and five wonderful grandchildren who are young adults. Though one of these children, Frank, is not John’s by birth, he has helped Jane raise him from infancy, and as such feels he is, and treats him as though, he one of his own. It looks like great-grandchildren may be on the way shortly. With all of this activity in his life, John has not yet set aside time to get his Last Will & Testament, Power of Attorney or Health Care Directive documentation set up even though it is high on his priority list to do so. Jane is in the same boat. One day John was working in his yard, lost his balance, slipped and fell. Shortly thereafter he lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. John regained consciousness in the hospital with a Doctor and Jane looking down upon him. He wanted to ask what had happened, but found himself unable to do so. He could form the question in his mind, but couldn’t make himself speak. He was paralyzed from head to toe. This was very frightening to John, and unfortunately, things were about to get worse. Jane was very stressed about her husband’s situation. She could see the concern in John’s eyes and understood that he was trying to speak, but could not. Jane suffers from high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and as a result of the increased stress, she suffered a heart attack and sadly passed away the same week of Johns hospitalization. Jane had no Will, so her estate will pass in part to Frank and in part to John because of Manitoba’s Intestate Succession Act. (We will explain this further in the next issue) John isn’t able to handle his Wife’s estate because of his physical condition and is not even able to manage his own finances because he cannot communicate. John’s three children meet and discuss what to do with their mother suddenly gone and their father unable to manage his own affairs. Jessica, the oldest, wants to control their father’s money, take care of his day to day needs and expenses, and be able to give gifts to the rest of the family out of the money. Frank has never been very responsible with money, or anything else for that matter, and wants no part in this situation. Samuel, the youngest, disagrees that Jessica should control their father’s money and doesn’t want her giving away all of the money in contradiction to what he believes his father wants. 14
PARADISE VILLAGE NEWS
Because Jessica and Samuel had differences of opinion as to who should be responsible to manage their father’s affairs and how the money should be distributed, if at all, they approached legal counsel. Both ended up approaching the court to be appointed as their father’s Committee. This led to a lengthy legal battle with multiple witnesses leading evidence about their father’s wishes, and which person would be the most responsible and not unreasonably deplete the estate. The court ended up giving Samuel the Order of Committeeship, but the legal costs added together amounted to over $70,000.00, which were ordered to be paid from the funds of John. Samuel had to sell some of John’s farm equipment to cover the legal costs. Samuel was also required by the Court to account for all of his father’s monies every two years (called a “Passing of Accounts”). Passing of Accounts is a costly process, as this requires further repeated Court attendances, and careful and precise accounting. This long legal battle was largely for nothing because a few years after the Court Decision was made, John began regaining his ability to communicate. He eventually regained the use of one arm and could use an electric wheelchair and type what he wanted to say on a computer attached to that chair. John took the steps necessary to regain control over his assets, because he was now capable of doing so again. John was furious with both Jessica and Samuel for wasting all of that money fighting over who would take care of his finances for him. It turns out he would have been happy with either of them managing his funds while he was unable. John has now booked an appointment with a local lawyer to get his affairs in order. What to Take from this Story While this scenario has been slightly exaggerated to make clear that not having a Power of Attorney can lead to family disputes, costly legal expenses and unplanned outcomes, the points are all still valid. Setting up a Power of Attorney before tragedy strikes is very affordable (usually less than $300.00 per person) and will save your estate significant money in the long run if anything should happen to you and you are unable to manage your affairs. Even if your family doesn’t have to fight over who will be the Committee, and what powers they should have, they will still need to approach the Court to get appointed and will likely hire legal counsel for that purpose, and for the ongoing passing of accounts, to make sure everything is done properly. Notably, when a Power of Attorney is attended to, the ritual of “Passing of Accounts” is much less formal and a person can be named to be the recipient of that accounting. This less onerous reporting requirement saves upwards to tens of thousands of dollars in some cases. If you have not attended to a Power of Attorney document yet, time is of the essence, whether you are age 30 or age 80. Reality: anyone, at any age, can slip and fall. Tune in to the next issue for more on the Legal Adventures of the Smith Family Authors: Shimon Leibl, Articling Student at Law, with Mona Jodoin of the Mona Jodoin Law Corporation The Law changes on a regular basis. 5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do FIRST - EMERGENCY The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out. SECOND - HAVE YOU LOCKED YOUR KEYS IN THE CAR? Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other ‘remote’ for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk). THIRD - HIDDEN BATTERY POWER Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time. FOURTH - HOW TO DISABLE A STOLEN MOBILE PHONE! To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone is stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can’t use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people to steal mobile phones. And Finally . . . . FIFTH - FREE DIRECTORY SERVICE FOR CELL PHONES Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don’t have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial: (800)FREE411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

Paradise Village Singles - July It was July 6th when twenty seven hungry people arrived at Vida Bowyer’s home for our monthly pot luck. She was well prepared with three nicely set tables and a huge smile. As usual it was a convivial gathering and enjoyed by all. And yes, a birthday cake was served to Steve Davidge who was reluctant in revealing his number but shared his cake. Carol Stoess distributed some prizes to the winners who played miniature golf last month. No one qualified for the PGA tour, however! Our next get- together will be held at the home of Margaret Rougeau 20 Nature Drive on August 10th, 2015 at 5 pm Please do call Margaret @204-422-5061 if you pan to attend.
All singles are most welcome. Just bring a dish and/or beverage of your choice. Newcomers, please do not hesitate to join us. We look forward to meeting you.
How sweet it is
Local trio claims Canadian title (Courtesy of the Carillon by Terry Frey) A team from Deluxe Bowl in Steinbach put it all together over two long days in July, in Winnipeg, as they bowled their way to the national championship at the Club 55+ Triples Team Nationals at Dakota Lanes. Never too old to win a national crown is the feeling of this trio, whether you’re in your seventies or eighties. Such is the case of 87-year-old Richard Unruh, the senior statesman of the team, while Lawrence Lacoste and Frank Leys are relative youngsters who have yet to see their 80th birthday. To do well in this competition, you have to bowl your average or better, and all three of them did just that. They came into the week with a combined average of 463. Through 10 games they averaged 499, 36 points over their average. Additional points were also awarded in the head to head competitions against other provinces.
Lawrence Lacoste, Richard Unruh and our very own Frank Leys
Putting it all together, they came our on top in the field of six teams, which also included entries from North Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Southern Ontario and Saskatchewan. Way to go Frank and the team. Congratulations on Gold!!!!! 22

A bookseller conducting a market survey asked a woman – “Which book has helped you most in your life?” The woman replied – “My husband’s cheque book!!” A prospective husband in a book store: “Do you have a book called, ‘Husband – the Master of the House’?” Sales Girl: “Sir, Fiction and Comics are on the 1st floor!” Someone asked an old man: “Even after 70 years, you still call your wife – Darling, Honey, Luv. What’s the secret?” Old man: “I forgot her name and I’m scared to ask her.” A man in Hell asked the Devil: “Can I make a call to my Wife?” After making the call he asked how much to pay? The Devil said: “Nothing. Hell to hell is free.” Wife: “I wish I was a newspaper so I’d be in your hands all day.” Husband: “I too wish that you were a newspaper, so I could have a new one every day!” Husband to wife:“Today is a fine day.” Next day he says: “Today is a fine day.” Again the next day, he says the same thing –“Today is a fine day.” Finally after a week, the wife can’t take it anymore and asks her husband: “Since last week, you are saying this ‘Today is a fine day’ I am fed up, what’s the matter?” Husband : “Last week when we had an argument, you said, ‘I will leave you one fine day!’ I was just trying to remind you.”

Canada Day by Rose McDonald We held our annual Canada Day BBQ which seemed to be a great success! The day started out with a very good breakfast which was supplied by Paradise Management, Justin and Jill. The weather was just about perfect; a big change from last year! It was so nice to see so many people, new and old, turn out for good food and good company. We all got to meet some of the new residents in the Village as well as touch base with some old friends. In the afternoon we played some games and visited. Thank you to the people who set them up. What a good way to spend the day. We then served supper which was very good, a big Thank You to our cooks it was a very hot job but as usual they rose to the occasion. A huge Thank You to all the people who helped serve and clean up after. Thank you to the Jammers who came to serenade us after dinner. The 50/50 was won by Diane Hancocks, $171.00. Congratulations Diane and thanks to everyone for your support. I hope that in the coming months we will have just as good turnouts because we have great events planned for the future. Coming in August is “PIZZA NIGHT!” so be sure you keep an eye out for posters in the newsletter and at the mailboxes. Again, a BIG THANK YOU to all! Paradise Village Christian Fellowship Church It’s great to be back in the Recreation Center for our Sunday Worship Services! We very much appreciated the use of the Richer LUD Hall for about 18 months while the renovations were made here. We would to commend Justin, Jill and the P. V. Management for the beautiful renovations! Of course, there are always things to be worked out with such an extensive undertaking so we all need to be patient and understanding. One of the greatest blessings, here in this life for the Christian, is God’s gift of the “fruit of the Holy Spirit” which includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22). We all need to seek more of this “fruit” in our lives then Paradise Village will be even more a “paradise on earth” for all its residents!
Coming up on Sunday, August 30th at 10:00 am the Church will be hosting the “Penner & Dirksen Duet” for a special time of song. EVERYONE is invited! Come worship with us on Sundays at 10 A.M. at the Recreation Center in Paradise Village. Everyone is welcome. Coffee and Fellowship following the Service. If anyone has special prayer requests please call the President, Dennis Hall.
MENS Breakfast Fellowship: 2nd Monday of each month (10 a.m. at various restaurants) rides can be arranged. For details give Dennis a call at 204-422-9870. LADIES Outing and Lunch Fellowship: takes place each month and all ladies are welcome to come for a time of great fellowship at various places...Rides can be arranged. Call Erna Martens for details.

PARADISE VILLAGE NEWS
Paradise Village Christian Fellowship Church We would like to take this opportunity to “re-introduce” you to the Paradise Village Christian Fellowship Church, and extend a warm invitation to come and see for yourself. After almost two years of being “out of town” a fresh “HELLO!” seems to be in order, and there are a number of “new residents” who may not be aware there IS a Church here. Of course, you may have your own church affiliation - and that’s wonderful - but many of us have found it so nice to have a Christian gathering right here in the Village. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbours in a Christian setting without having to travel distances for Sunday worship, etc. We consider ourselves as a “non (inter)-denominational Church gathering” composed of a congregation representing many Christian faith backgrounds. The Church gathers at 10AM Sunday mornings in the Recreation Center for an “informed and happy” worship time. We sing many of the older hymns, read Scripture, often enjoy some “special music and singing,” hear a timely message (about 20 minutes) by our special speaker/ pastor and take communion together (once a month). Prayer is also shared for any needs - those of the congregation and their loved ones & friends; as well as, all folks in the Village and beyond. Opportunity is also given for those who wish to share a short testimony or a received blessing, etc. We dismiss by 11 AM. Those who wish to (and most do!) stay and enjoy some refreshments and fellowship. For those who desire, we may have a time of Bible Study on a weekday morning usually in various homes or at the Recreation Center. This is an “interactive gathering” any or all may participate in lively discussion on many Bible (and other topics - we sometimes get “carried away!”). For men, we’ve started a “Men’s Breakfast” fellowship (knowing the guys like to eat!!!). We meet together at various local restaurants once a month (usually the Second Monday) for great fellowship and sharing (and eating, of course!). Any men - part of the Church or not - friends, neighbours, “enemies,” are all welcome - just bring a few loonies for breaky. The ladies also hjave an outing each month going to different venues for lunch. Again…..ALL LADIES ARE MOST WELCOME!!! What more can we say???? We’d just love to have you “come & see” for yourself!!! For further..…information.....questions.....times.....places.....rides..…etc.…. Here are some people to contact: Dennis Hall 204-422-9870
Joyce Spewak 204-422-4119
The Invitation is ALWAYS OPEN!!! Have a wonderful life in Paradise!!!

Paradise Tuesdays I am not afraid of tomorrow for I have seen yesterday and I love today. Noah's Ark : Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark. ONE: Don't miss the boat. TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat! THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big. FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done. SIX: Build your future on high ground. SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs. EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs. NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile. TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Pharmacie Seine Ste-Anne 170-142 avenue Centrale 204-422-8226 A reminder that we offer free delivery of prescriptions and pharmacy supplies to Paradise Village.
Restless Legs Syndrome Approximately 10% of adults have the neurologic movement disorder known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). However, only about 25% are properly diagnosed and many do not receive effective treatment. The incidence increases with age, lower socioeconomic status, smoking, physical inactivity, and co-morbid conditions, such as diabetes mellitus and iron deficiency anemia. More than half of RLS patients have a positive family history. Various medical conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, sleep-disordered breathing, drug-induced akathisia, and insomnia, can mimic RLS; however, the disorder is typically characterized by the following: Patients experience abnormal limb sensations that are often described as burning, creeping, tugging, or as if insects are crawling inside the legs. Symptoms are present at rest or may worsen at rest or during periods of inactivity. Patients will then experience a subjective urge to move the legs and possibly other body parts to alleviate symptoms. Movement relieves urge at least partially and as long as movement continues. The urge usually worsens as the day progresses or may be only present in the evening/at night. The exact pathogenesis of RLS is unknown. RLS is linked to abnormalities in dopamine and iron in the central nervous system. Central dopamine levels are known to follow a circadian rhythm, with levels at their lowest levels late at night when RLS symptoms are most prominent. The severity of symptoms is shown to be inversely related to serum iron and ferritin levels. Iron is a cofactor in tyrosine hydroxylase, the ratelimiting step in the conversion of tyrosine to dopamine. RLS can be classified in different ways, such as primary versus secondary. Primary disease occurs when the patient does not have any of associated co-morbidities know to cause symptoms, such as pregnancy, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and iron deficiency. Secondary causes of RLS must be identified and addressed. Iron deficiency anemia should be corrected. Iron supplements are indicated in RLS when ferritin levels are less than 50 ng/ml; however, supplemental iron does not benefit patients with levels above this. Lifestyle modifications produce modest clinical benefit. Decreasing intake of caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol may attenuate symptoms. A healthy lifestyle with moderate exercise and proper diet may help reduce symptoms. Good sleep hygiene is necessary. Certain drugs can exacerbate RLS, such as antihistamines, dopamine antagonists, lithium, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, and tricyclic antidepressants. If possible, these drugs should be discontinued.
32
PARADISE VILLAGE NEWS
Pharmacotherapy is based on whether the patient has intermittent, daily or refractory RLS. Some patients with mild, intermittent symptoms can be managed with nonpharmacologict therapy alone. However, in many cases with intermittent symptoms, the patient may need "prn" administration of carbidopa/levodopa, opioids, and benzodiazepines. Dopamine agonists, such as ropinirole or pramipexole are the drugs of choice for daily RLS. Gabapentin and low-potency opioids may be used if these agents are ineffective. Refractory RLS may require combination therapy. Pramipexole and ropinirole are both indicated for moderate to severe RLS.

Titration of these medications is necessary for maximum efficacy. Side effects with these drugs are nausea, daytime sleepiness, headache, and orthostasis, but they are safer than the ergot-derived dopamine agonists, such as bromocriptine, and cabergoline. Levodopa/cabidopa is not used first-line for daily symptoms due to the development of augmentation. Over the course of daily treatment, symptoms can actually be augmented, or worsen, and may even spread to other body parts. This response is much less common with the dopamine agonists. Gabapentin has shown efficacy equal to ropinirole in at least one study and is a good option for RLS patients with neuropathic pain. Opioids, such as codeine, hydrocodone and tramadol have been used in more severe cases. Benzodiazepines are helpful for insomnia but not other symptoms of RLS; they are not routinely recommended due to their potential for dependence and abuse.
SENIORS COFFEE GROUP A group of seniors were sitting around talking about all their ailments at Tim Horton's. "My arms have got so weak I can hardly lift this cup of coffee," said one. "Yes, I know," said another, "My cataracts are so bad; I can't even see my coffee." "I couldn't even mark an "X" at election time because my hands are so crippled," volunteered a third. "What? Speak up! What? I can't hear you!” said one elderly lady. "I can't turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck," said one, to which several nodded weakly in agreement. "My blood pressure pills make me so dizzy!" exclaimed another. "I forget where I am and where I'm going," said another. "I guess that's the price we pay for getting old," winced an old man as he slowly shook his head. The others nodded in agreement. "Well, count your Blessings," said a woman cheerfully, "Thank God we can all still drive." 33

PARADISE VILLAGE NEWS
A parable for our times‌... Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land." Today, Congress has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels, and mortgaged the Promised Land! I was so depressed last night thinking about Obama Care, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc.... I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for English. I was connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck...... Folks, we're screwed.

Who knew? Did you know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional pain relievers? Did you know that Colgate Toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns? Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose. Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly even though the product was never advertised for this use. Honey remedy for skin blemishes... cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight. Listerine therapy for toenail fungus: Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again. Easy eyeglass protection... to prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear Nail Polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them. Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer... if menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly. Smart splinter remover: Just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue. Hunt's Tomato Paste boil cure... cover the boil with Hunt's Tomato Paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head. Balm for broken blisters... to disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine, a powerful antiseptic. Vinegar to heal bruises... soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process. Quaker Oats for fast pain relief... it's not for breakfast any more! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Because drivers are not always available, we need to increase the number of volunteers. If you could help with this service, please call Pat. DRIVERS WHO PREFER TO USE THEIR OWN VEHICLE: Bob & Hazel Hicks 204-422-5790 (Summer Only) John Sluis 204-422-4111 Norm Cunningham 204-422-9177 Al Wastle

DRIVERS WHO WILL USE EITHER THEIR OWN OR THE RESIDENT’S VEHICLE: Hey folks, did you submit to “What’s The Caption?” on what is your thought on what is being said or done in each picture. I want as many responses as possible. Let’s have some fun. Go back to Page 17 and give us your thoughts. Idea and photos compliments of Wayne Pierce.
