A demonstration day will be held in June at Royackers Kennel for all interested members who want to train for Junior and Apprentice levels. Watch www.pwdcc.org, Forum Water Work for more information.

ThePresident’sLetter This issue introduces the sport of Agility. Our fellow PWD owners are quickly discovering how much fun they and their dogs have in this sport. Relatively easy to learn, you can usually begin competing within the first year of training. While this was a sport dominated by Border Collies, our PWDs have arrived on the scene and are beating those BCs at their favourite game. While many people are intimidated by what looks to be perfect control over your dog, the reality is that these are still our fun loving, sometimes unpredictable dogs who somehow get totally focused when on a course. Much like water work, your dog only needs some basic obedience. The other great thing about the sport is that people of all ages and shapes can become involved. I've seen kids as young as 8 years old and adults well over 70 years old out there competing and enjoying the time with their dogs. Best of all is that it is just plain fun to get out there and run around with your dog. You owe it to yourself to give it try. So, when the sun takes a vacation this winter, look for an Agility group to join and have a blast. Congratulations to our Alberta members for holding their first Booster and for organizing their local members into a newly recognized CKC Regional PWD club. We look forward to next year's National Specialty in Alberta. Thanks also for hosting our first official CKC Agility match and qualifying our club to host our own trials in the future. Don't forget that this year the BC Club is hosting a Regional Specialty with Judges Jan Kay (Regular classes) and Janis Watts (Sweepstakes). As in previous years, this BC event will be held in conjunction with the October show in Abbotsford, BC and gives competitors a change to participate in 5 shows over 4 days. Can Ch Armada’s Purple Rain, Can CD, AWD, SHDCH, ATChC, AD, EAC, EGC, OJ, Am CGC, Cdn.Therapy Dog Just a few short years ago I thought Purple and I would never get out of Starters. In 2001, Purple was the very first PWD to earn the Agility Association of Canada’s MADC (Master’s Agility Dog of Canada); as well as his MAJC, MATRC, MAGC, MASC and to receive his ATChC – Agility Trial Champion of Canada. I was asked if he would continue to participate now that we have this Title – my answer “Of course – Purple doesn’t care about the ribbons, the Titles – he loves the sport (as this picture demonstrates) and wants his cookie for having fun with me!” So as long as he is having fun we will continue to play. So the moral of the story – If we can do it – So can you! Many thanks to our great trainer and friend Noel Duruisseau of Paw-Z-Tracks, my family and friends for their encouragement and support over the years and of course to My Best Friend and Partner – Purple! Personalizing the forum area of www.pwdcc.org As we mentioned in the last issue, www.pwdcc.org has a FORUM where we can chat, check up on club events, activity results, health issues, training concerns and anything else the members want to discuss. In this issue we’ll talk about how to personalize the forum.
WHERE TO START
Edit your profile
Your note pad
From the FORUM page, click on Your Control Panel:
Your profile contains information about you (name, date of birth, gender, etc.) and how you can be contacted. You can add an MSN Messenger, and/or other chat ID’s.
In Your Note Pad you can save notes, posts and personal messages in the event that you don’t have time to finish them.
On this screen you’ll be presented with 6 options: SUMMARY, PERSONAL INFO, EMAIL SETTINGS, TOPIC TRACKER, ACCOUNT OPTIONS, MODIFY ACCOUNT. Let’s go through them one-by-one.
SUMMARY The summary page details all of the information regarding your membership that is updated automatically such as your email address, total number of posts, the date you registered and your post per day average.
EMAIL SETTINGS When you add this information you may notice new icons at the bottom of all of your posts: These icons are public links for your Member Profile, Private Message, email and any other chat service ID’s you provide. The sample above is for ICQ. (The email link is sent through a form and no email address is provided to them. Your email address will only be visible if you reply to the message.)
Avatar options
TOPIC TRACKER
Your avatar is the pictorial representation of your digital self and is visible under your name in any post you do.
Topic Traker allows you to keep track of any topics that you have subscribed to.
You have 3 options of Avatar. You can select an avatar from the list provided:
ACCOUNT OPTIONS
PERSONAL INFO The Personal Info page is where you can amend your personal profile for other visitors to view. Once you are on the Personal Info page you have 3 further options: EDIT YOUR PROFILE, AVATAR OPTIONS AND YOUR NOTE PAD.
10 AUGUST 2003
The email settings area allows you to keep your address hidden and change any preferences for email sent to you from the forum.
You can select one from a site on the web:
The Account Options section allows you to change board settings. You can change the time zone, select English or French as the board language (this will not effect posts), choose whether or not you wish to see signatures in posts, choose to view posted images inline or as a link, choose to view avatars and select if you would like to be informed of new Personal Messages via a pop-up window.
Or, you can upload your own image as I have done (Please note that the file size is limited to 512k. Avatars should be 64x64 pixels. An easy way to crop and resize images online can be found at http://www.myimager.com/):

Enter your username and click “Send the confirmation email”. An email will be sent asking for confirmation to reset your password. This is a security measure to ensure that no one is trying to gain access to your account. In the email you'll receive a link to a code to cut and paste into a form to validate the request. If the unlock code validates, then you'll be emailed your login name and new password. After this step you may change your password in your control panel under 'Modify Account'.

Because the Pups were in BIG TROUBLE, (see below) Dad (Vasco) thinks that teaching them to dance will help keep them out of trouble.
