Sheikha Al Mayassa honoured as 'Arab Woman Leader of the Year'
The award acknowledges the Qatari royal as a role model for women in the region and for her contributions to elevating Arab art and culture on the global stage.
Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM), has been honoured with the 'Arab Woman Leader of the Year 2023' award by the Arab Development Council for Women and Business (ADCWB).

Upon receiving the award, Sheikh Saud emphasised Qatar’s dedication to empowering Arab women and equipping them to actively contribute to a brighter future.
On Instagram, the Qatari royal identifies herself as a “Public Servant 24/7/365”.
She began leading QM in 2006, driving initiatives that introduced global audiences to Arab art and design, and reshaped creative spaces through public art campaigns.
QM oversees a vast portfolio including the National Museum of Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Msheireb’s M7, Liwan Design Studios, and more.
During MIA’s 2022 relaunch, Sheikha Al Mayassa hailed its original opening as pivotal for Qatar’s transformation.
Under her leadership, the museum opened in 2008 and now serves as a cultural hub bridging global cultures through its extensive collection of artifacts spanning centuries. These include ceramics, textiles, glasswork, jewellery, manuscripts, and metalwork, all tracing Islam’s global history.
QM has expanded beyond traditional museum settings, transforming Qatar into an open creative space. Recently, QM and Liwan launched public art initiatives inviting regional artists to submit proposals.
QM’s public art programme showcases local and international talent across Qatar. Examples include Tom Claassen’s ‘Falcon’ at Hamad International Airport and Ghada Al Khater’s ‘A Blessing in Disguise’ at the Fire Station.

Haircare
The secret to Arab women’s thick, glossy hair lies in their careful use of natural ingredients. Before washing their hair, they apply kefir or sour milk to their scalp. These sour milk products quickly regenerate the hair, making it smooth and shiny. Interested in trying it? Make the kefir yourself, as commercially produced kefir lacks the beneficial properties for hair.
UNRAVELLING ANCIENT BEAUTY SECRETS OF ARAB WOMEN! 2 1
Hair dyes
Arab women often avoid modern hair dyes, preferring the natural dye henna, just as they did centuries ago. Henna, made from the leaves of lawsonia inermis, is abundant in Arab countries. Adding basma to henna produces a deep black hair colour, while colourless henna serves as a strengthening hair mask.
The graceful and enigmatic Arab women with flawless dark hair, soft skin, and captivating eyes are no accidents. They have been passed down a battery of beauty secrets through generations. How do these modest women maintain such stunning looks? What are their hidden beauty tricks? We've uncovered some of the cherished beauty secrets of Arab women and brought them to you!
Black eyes
Eyes hold significant importance for Arab women, as the rest of their body is often concealed by the abaya. The famous oriental eyeliner look is achieved using antimony on the upper lash line. Besides its decorative effect, antimony strengthens the eyebrows and lashes and enhances their colour. Many modern cosmetics brands now use antimony as eyeliner.
Brows and lashes
In the Middle East, full, almost joined eyebrows and long lashes are the beauty ideal. Even young Arab girls use usma natural oil, applying it to their eyebrows and lashes to accelerate growth and awaken 'sleeping' hair roots. You can try it yourselves: after a month, you will see your lashes and eyebrows becoming noticeably fuller.
Face care
Middle Eastern women use natural cleansing water, like rose blossom water, for facial care. It can replace micellar water, as it calms the skin and treats inflammation and redness. While European women often seek golden tans year-round, Middle Eastern women prefer pale skin and use natural bleachers such as lemon juice for a fresh, radiant complexion. The soft side of lemon peel also makes an excellent scrub.
Body care
The Middle Eastern culture deeply values the hammam, or steam bath (Turkish bath ceremony), for its wellness benefits. These baths open pores and release deep-seated impurities, leaving the skin silky soft. Arab women bring their favourite natural scrub to the hammam, with coffee grounds being the most popular. You can use pure coffee grounds or mix them with shower gel for soft, even skin after just one treatment.
Perfume
Despite their wealth, many Arab women prefer the natural scents of traditional oriental aroma oils over expensive perfumes. Their favourite ingredients include musk, sandalwood, vanilla, jasmine, and rose. Middle Eastern perfumes are purely oilbased and alcohol-free, making the scents long-lasting.
Home-made face masks
A much-used beauty product is a homemade face mask using natural ingredients, with turmeric being a favourite. Here’s a simple recipe:
• 2 tbsp flour
• 1 pinch of turmeric
• 2 tbsp rosewater
• 2 tbsp milk
Mix until smooth, apply to your face, leave on for 20 minutes, and rinse off with warm water.
RIDING QATARI DIGITAL BOOM TO EMERGE AS AN ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS STORY
In conversation with QH, Zeyad Al Jaidah, managing director and co-founder of Techno Q talks through the start of the company’s journey, reflecting on where the company is now with its thrust on service quality.
QH: What inspired you to co-found Techno Q in 1996?
Al Jaidah: The Techno Q story started 28 years ago, and we've achieved remarkable milestones since. My partner and co-founder Abdulla Al Ansari and I met while studying Mechanical Engineering in the United States and were heavily inspired by the home theatre systems we had in America at the time. This spark was the catalyst that led us to setting up a showroom in Salwa Road when we returned to Qatar. Although this initial venture did not go quite as expected, it paved the way to securing our first big client who wanted a customised advanced audio system and control system for his new palace. Since then, we’ve expanded at an astonishing rate, harnessing the momentum of Qatar’s rapid digital transformation and becoming one of the region’s leading regional Systems Integrator specialising in Audiovisual, Extra Low Voltage, Broadcast Infrastructure, IT Business Solutions, Lighting Systems and Hospitality Solutions. As of June 26, 2024, we are also proud to say we have become the fourth company to list on the Qatar Exchange Venture Market (QEVM) – a historic feat for Techno Q and the local market alike. What started as an opportunistic venture has transformed into one of the region’s greatest entrepreneurial success stories and today, with over 350 professionals and a sprawling operational base of 3,000m², Techno Q is a testament to the power of vision and perseverance.
QH: What key strategies have driven Techno Q’s growth?
Al Jaidah: When all is said and done, we really have just one strategy and that is to deliver excellence. From a modest showroom to listing on the QEVM – is neither accidental nor coincidental and is largely due to our commitment to delivering on each project we’ve been entrusted with. Over the years, we’ve worked with a range of clients across numerous sectors including corporate, education, government, healthcare, hospitality, and public venues. Our impressive project portfolio has also extended into the world of sport and includes the design and execution of cuttingedge race electronics for the most premier international racing competition here in Qatar and the creation and setup of sophisticated security access control systems for several football stadiums for Qatar FIFA 2022.
As of June 26, 2024, we are also proud to say we have become the fourth company to list on the Qatar Exchange Venture Market – a historic feat for Techno Q and the local market alike.
QH: How do you build and maintain international partnerships?
Al Jaidah: At Techno Q we are big on values, and we strongly believe in using integrity as our main compass and guiding star. Building our business on core pillars such as commitment, quality and competence has allowed us to not only anchor our relationships but also grow our portfolio of partners. At their core, business relationships are the same as personal relationships in that they rely on respect, communication and trust to thrive – our ability to provide such ethics while simultaneously delivering tangible and positive results for our partners means we can build enduring and mutually beneficial partnerships that drive long-term success for all parties involved. This strategy has proven successful, and we will continue to implement it as we embark on our next chapter as a public company on the QEVM.
QH: What challenges have you faced in expanding Techno Q?
Al Jaidah: Oil prices fluctuate and this can impact government spending. Since Qatar’s economy is closely linked to oil prices, a decrease in government spending usually means there are fewer projects. During periods of increased
government spending, Techno Q grows and prospers. However, when spending declines, we tend to experience slight stagnation. While this is a challenge for all companies, it also provides incentives and opportunities to think outside the box. At Techno Q, we are actively seeking to expand beyond Qatar and into other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, to secure new projects and ensure continued growth for our company, stakeholders and investors alike.
QH: How does Techno Q continually enhance quality and service?
Al Jaidah: When we kick started Techno Q, we did not have any project references – nobody in Qatar was doing what we were doing, and so it was difficult to draw out the path as first-time entrepreneurs. However, with every challenge there is an opportunity and I strongly believe this helped catapult Techno Q into the company it is today. The lack of local references means we have always looked to the international market for product offerings, always allowing us to be at the forefront of the local market. This outward looking culture empowers us to provide the most innovative and cuttingedge solutions to our customers and clients here in Qatar. Technology is always evolving, and it is crucial for any tech or solutions-based company to remain agile and aware of the latest trends to see how they can be incorporated into services and products. Recently, we entered the Fintech space through a new partnership with SkipCash, through which we aim to introduce seamless, secure, and highly efficient payment solutions tailored specifically for the hospitality industry. This collaboration not only enhances payment experiences for guests but also streamlines operations for hospitality businesses, reducing processing time and increasing customer satisfaction. As a leading systems integrator, we take our commitment to technology and innovation very seriously. We also firmly believe that by continuously evolving and embracing new technologies like AI, we can stay true to our mission of delivering the highest standards of excellence and staying ahead in a rapidly changing technological landscape.

Favourite quote or motto: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
Guido Grassi Damiani, president of Damiani Group – the house of exclusive designs, high craftsmanship that tell exclusive stories – shares his journey, inspirations behind the iconic designs, and his vision for the future of luxury jewellery.
For Damiani, jewellry isn't just about luxury; it's about heritage, art, and personal connection. And it has been so right since its inception in 1924.
One piece that stands out for Damiani is the shark bracelet, a stunning creation in yellow gold and platinum with a white diamond pavé and jonquilles totalling 41 carats. This bracelet is special not just for its beauty but because it was designed by Damiani’s mother Gabriella, embodying the personal and family-oriented approach Damiani takes with their creations., reminiscences Damiani.
On being asked to share a memorable moment from his journey with the Damiani Group, he responds, “Every day holds significance for us as we constantly look ahead, making each day memorable.”
However, he points to the company's 100th anniversary as particularly memorable. The celebration in Milan earlier this year was a grand event, attended by celebrities and notable figures from around the world, featuring an exhibition that underscored the family's passion and dedication and planned as intricately as each piece from the Damiani stable.
Qatar foray
The decision to expand into Qatar is driven by the region's robust market and loyal Qatari customers. Increasing their presence here was a natural step, according to Damiani. “It’s a fantastic location, and we are open to collaborating with local designers when the right opportunity arises,” he expresses.
Modern jewellery design, according to Damiani, is deeply inspired by women. He emphasises creating pieces that are not only beautiful but also practical for everyday wear, drawing inspiration from Italy's rich culture and environment.
For Damiani, the joy of working in the jewellery business comes from the combination of beautiful materials, fascinating customers, and the significant moments his pieces represent in people's lives. “It’s probably the best job in the world. Working with gold and diamonds in beautiful locations is incredible,” he signs off with a smile.

DOHA HAS A RICH, VARIED FOODSCAPE
Gwendal Poullennec, international director, The MICHELIN Guides, in conversation with QatarHappeningtalks us through his own professional journey, Doha’s bustling food scene and the roadmap that any restaurant aspiring to be Michelin starred needs to follow.
QH: Take us through your professional journey. What induced you to join this industry?
Poullennec: I joined the Michelin group in 2003 after leaving ESSEC Business School in France. I have spent more than the past decade in charge of the international deployment of the MICHELIN Guides in the US and Asia. I’ve also worked on the MICHELIN Guides launches in New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Kyoto and more recently Bangkok and Taipei.
I was appointed general secretary of the Guides in 2014, and developed our digital strategy, products and interfaces while accelerating the internationalisation of the Guides. Today, as the international director of the MICHELIN Guides, I’m in charge of ensuring its sustainable development in more than 40 destinations, as well as reinforcing its footprint not only in terms of restaurant recommendations, but also in terms of hotel ones.
All through this rich tapestry of my professional journey, I have been committed to embody the MICHELIN Group’s core values: generosity, passion for innovation and excellence, as well as the independence.
QH: How have you witnessed the industry change and evolve at the global level?
Poullennec: Each destination has its own characteristics. Every city’s culinary scene sees the vitality, passion, and creativity constantly surprising the market. Not to mention that renowned chefs are increasingly opening restaurants around the world, coupled with a new generation of local chefs emerging with a growing customer base.
From the investment, we see many new restaurants open, the blooming of food & beverage scene – guest chefs graduating from one country to another, variety of choices and experiences that have elevated them to make them appreciate the way it has never been before.
The locavore movement, or the use of locally-sourced ingredients is becoming the true star of global foodscape. The trend indicates each destination’s rich diversity and high quality of local produce. Sustainable practices have been a very excellent trend in the industry as well. Many restaurants hold themselves accountable for
their environmental standards, and work with sustainable producers and suppliers to avoid waste and reduce or even remove plastic and other non-recyclable materials from their supply chain, among other inspiring initiatives.
QH: What is your view of the Qatari hospitality industry and what does it need to do to take an extra step forward in the coming five years?
Poullennec: These past few years, our MICHELIN inspectors have been keeping a watchful eye on Doha’s culinary evolution and continue to relish the wonderful diversity that this fast-paced city has to offer. Whether enjoying coffee on the Corniche, wandering around The Pearl-Qatar, having lunch by the waterside in Lusail, or dining after a mesmerising visit to the Museum of Islamic Art or in the dynamic, regenerated Msheireb Downtown Doha, our inspectors have truly experienced it all.
Middle Eastern, Japanese, Peruvian, or fused Nikkei style, Indian and Chinese to name a few, the choice here is endless and doubtlessly certain to appeal to the avid global gastronomic traveller.
QH: With your wide experience across regions, what would be your word of advice to Qatari hospitality captains?
Poullennec: At the MICHELIN Guides, we refrain from engaging in consulting services to ensure impartiality in our evaluations of restaurants. Our aim is to avoid any potential influence on chefs and their teams. Each restaurant featured in our guide presents unique flavours, culinary techniques, and ingredients, making it clear that there is no singular path to earning a MICHELIN star. Integral to our inspection methodology is the consideration of the chef's personality as conveyed through their culinary creations.
To assess the quality of a restaurant, inspectors rely on five criteria which only focus on the quality of the food, and never take into consideration the standing of a restaurant or its service : quality of the ingredients; mastery of cooking; harmony of the flavors; expression of the chef’s personality in the cuisine; and consistency, both over time and across the entire menu. To keep it short: never cook for the Guide. Cook with passion, please your guests, every day, and our inspectors will know how to find you.
SURGING LEARNERS’
MARKET EVOLVING TO BRIDGE TECH AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Talking To
Kais Zribi, general manager for the Middle East and Africa, Coursera speaks to Sara Naveed on the education market in the region, how artificial intelligence (AI) is impacting this industry and what can reduce the dependence of Qatar on an expatriate labour force.
QH: Tell us about the major trends in the Qatar job market shaping the skills landscape.
Zribi: The job market in Qatar is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by several key trends reshaping the skills landscape. The technology sector, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity, software development, and data science, is experiencing a surge in demand. This is part of Qatar’s strategic move to diversify its economy from traditional oil and gas to a knowledge-based economy, with digital transformation as key.
Qatar is making substantial investments in education and research to attract global talent and develop local expertise in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. This aligns with the nation's long-term vision for sustainable development and economic diversification. Additionally, government initiatives are fostering entrepreneurship and small business development, spurring innovation, and creating new job opportunities within the SME sector.
QH: How do you recommend that educators navigate the future of education in the age of Generative AI (GenAI)?
Zribi: GenAI is poised to revolutionise education by ushering in a new era of personalised and interactive learning at scale. For educators, this presents both challenges and opportunities. The integration of AI tools such as ChatGPT into the learning environment can provide students with 24/7 support, personalised feedback, and tailored learning experiences, leveling the playing field and enhancing educational outcomes. However, it's essential for educators to maintain a balanced approach. While AI can assist in delivering content and providing support, the role of human teachers remains irreplaceable. Educators should focus on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration–skills that AI cannot replicate. By embracing AI ethically and effectively, educators can create a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for the future job market.
QH: What is your outlook on the rising focus on technology and data science skills among Qatar's students?
Zribi: Learners in Qatar, like their global counterparts, are recognising the rapid and profound changes occurring in the job market, particularly driven by advancements in AI and technology. This shift is evident in the increased proficiency in technology and data science skills, which have risen to 40 percent and 42 percent, respectively. This reflects a proactive approach to acquiring the skills necessary to remain competitive. The latest
Coursera Global Skills Report 2024 highlights this trend, showing that Qatari learners are keen to equip themselves with both the technical and human skills required to navigate an evolving landscape.
QH: Why is there an increase in the number of learners in Qatar, and what does it signify for the job market?
Zribi: The rise in the number of learners in Qatar is a clear reflection of the nation's dedication to education and its strategic vision for future growth. This trend aligns seamlessly with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which emphasises bridging talent gaps through extensive upskilling initiatives and fostering a dynamic workforce. The government's investment in specialised training and comprehensive upskilling and reskilling programmes is pivotal in creating a digitally adept and competitive talent pool.
Coursera saw a 32 percent year-over-year increase in new learners from Qatar joining the platform in the first quarter of 2024. Moreover, in the EMEA region, Qatar has the second highest percentage of Coursera learners relative to its population. The surge in enrolement underscores a strong appetite for acquiring job-relevant skills among Qatari learners. High demand in areas such as data analytics, project management, and cybersecurity signifies a forward-thinking workforce that understands the critical importance of continuous learning and skill development.
QH: What courses are most interesting to the Qatar market that will equip the local population enough to move away from skilled labour overseas?
Zribi: Learners in Qatar are increasingly focusing on a diverse array of courses that provide both technical and personal development skills, which are essential for a modern, knowledgebased economy. Popular courses such as "English for Career Development" by the University of Pennsylvania and "Learning How to Learn" by Deep Teaching Solutions help build crucial personal skills like effective communication and efficient learning strategies. These skills are foundational for any career path and can significantly boost overall job performance and adaptability.
In addition to personal development, there is a strong interest in technical courses that equip learners with skills in data science, project management, and IT support, relevant in today's digital economy. The focus on a broad mix of business, technology, and personal skills ensures that the local population is well-prepared to take on high-demand roles within Qatar, reducing the reliance on skilled labour from overseas.
A SUMMER SOJOURN THROUGH FINLAND AND BEYOND!
Sara Naveed experienced an extraordinary opportunity: a writer’s residency at the Saari Residence in Mynämäki, Southwest Finland. Naveed was among the first writers from Pakistan to be honoured with this prestigious opportunity. And she decided to make the most of it by travelling both the neighbouring and some far-flung cities and countries to give us a distilled flavour of her stay.
The residency programme is awarded by Saari Residence, a haven for artists from around the world, is supported by the Kone Foundation and provides a serene environment for creative minds to flourish. Nestled in the tranquil Finnish countryside, the Saari Residence offers a peaceful retreat where artists and researchers can immerse themselves in their work. The residence’s philosophy is deeply rooted in ecological, social, and psychological sustainability, embracing principles of slowness, insight, and transformation. My nearly two-week stay at this idyllic location allowed me to focus on my writing project, which centered on crafting short stories set in Pakistan. One narrative explored the challenging theme of domestic abuse within a typical Pakistani household.
During my residency, I had the pleasure of exploring the surrounding areas. Mynämäki, a charming village, offered a range of shops, restaurants, and cafes, while Saaren Kartano, where the residence was located, had fewer attractions, save for a delightful Thai restaurant.
Exploring Turku: A taste of Finnish urban life
On alternate days, I ventured to Turku, one of Finland’s largest cities, for a richer urban experience. A short bus ride took me from Mynämäki to Turku, where I delighted in discovering landmarks such as Turku Castle and the vibrant city centre. Turku also offered a variety of halal restaurants, which made my dining experiences more enjoyable. I took the opportunity to indulge in some shopping, further enriching my visit.
The Finnish summer weather was a pleasant surprise, with each day presenting a mix of rain, sunshine, clouds, and even a chill, all within a single day.
Helsinki: The capital's charms
As my residency ended, I travelled by bus to Helsinki, the capital city. The journey of two hours led me to a city enveloped in natural beauty and tranquility. Helsinki’s green spaces and low population density contribute to its peaceful ambience.
In Helsinki, I explored a diverse array of attractions starting from the Vuosaari Beach that provided a relaxing escape, a ferry ride to Suomenlinna Island offering a glimpse into Finland’s maritime history, the Oodi Library, Finland’s largest public library, and the Sky Room in Clarion Hotel, known for its panoramic city views. I wandered through the old city, vibrant city centre, and visited significant landmarks such as the Cathedral Church
and Uspenski Cathedral. During my three-day stay, I tried a range of cuisines, including Turkish, Nepalese, and Indian.
Tallinn: A glimpse into Estonia’s past
While in Helsinki, I seized the chance to take a ferry to Tallinn, Estonia. The twohour journey each way was well worth it. Tallinn, though compact, is rich in history and culture. Its walled, cobblestoned Old Town is home to quaint cafes and shops. I explored notable sites such as the Tallinn Town Hall, Viru Gates, Viru Square, and the Viru Keskus shopping mall. Rahva Raamat, located within Viru Keskus, is Estonia’s largest bookstore and was honoured as the best bookstore in the world by the London Book Fair in 2022.
Copenhagen: A family reunion and Danish delights
The final leg of my Scandinavian adventure took me to Copenhagen, where I visited family. The one-hour and fifteen-minute flight from Helsinki took me to this vibrant city.
In Copenhagen, I explored Tivoli Gardens, one of the world’s oldest amusement parks. The colourful buildings of Nyhavn, or "New Harbour," provided a picturesque backdrop, reflecting the city’s maritime heritage. I also visited the Opera House, Amalienborg Palace (the residence of the Danish Royal Family), and the iconic Little Mermaid statue, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale.
Strøget, Copenhagen’s largest shopping area, offered ample retail therapy, while the Frederiksberg neighbourhood, Amager Strandpark beach, and a city cruise tour showcased the city’s diverse offerings. Another major highlight was the bicycle tour across the city. I rounded off my exploration with visits to the Black Diamond (the royal library) and Field’s, Denmark’s largest shopping centre.
My travels through Finland, Estonia, and Denmark were a blend of cultural discovery, creative inspiration, and personal connection, making this summer an unforgettable kaledioscope for me.

Doha, a city of wonders, brimming with incredible sights, must-visit museums, luxurious hotels, and exceptional restaurants, offering a vast array of dining options, of which Ruby Wu’s at Radisson Blu Hotel ranks as the top destination for Chinese cuisine. Walking into Ruby Wu’s, one is immediately captivated by the authentic Chinese ambience – right from the decor (that masterfully blends red, and white elements) to the sights and sounds of the place. The look’s subtle yet immersive feel evokes an unmistakable the essence of China. From the intricate decor to the elegant chandeliers, every detail at Ruby Wu’s is thoughtfully crafted to transport diners to the heart of the Middle Kingdom.
The mouthwatering starters
What begins with the look and feel of the place carries through effortlessly to the gastronomic experience at Ruby Wu’s that is nothing short of spectacular. For starters, we indulged in the deep-fried prawns with mayonnaise and black sesame seeds, a dish that perfectly balanced crunch and flavour. The shredded beef with Szechuan chili sauce added a spicy kick that was both invigorating and satisfying.
Moving on to the dim sum, the steamed chicken and shrimp dumplings (Siew Mei) were delicate and flavourful, setting the stage for the main courses. The hot and sour seafood soup was a comforting bowl of goodness, teeming with fresh seafood and a harmonious blend of spices.
Exquisite main courses
Among the standout dishes, the Szechuan stir-fried prawns with cashew nuts were a revelation, offering a delightful mix of textures and flavours. The stir-fried beef tenderloin with vegetables in black pepper sauce was another highlight. The tender beef effortlessly melted in the mouth, leaving a lingering taste of exquisite seasoning.
For a vegetable fix, the stir-fried mixed vegetables were a perfect choice, providing a fresh and vibrant contrast to the richer dishes. Each bite was a celebration of flavours and gastronomic expertise.
Decadent desserts
No meal is complete without dessert, and Ruby Wu’s does not disappoint. The spiced crepes with caramelised pineapple and honey ice cream were a sublime ending to a fantastic meal. The combination of warm spices, sweet pineapple, and creamy ice cream was heavenly.

OLYMPICS PARIS 2024: QATARI ATHLETES COMPETE VALIANTLY
In the 33rd Summer Olympics, Paris 2024, an international multi-sport event organised by the International Olympic Committee in partnership with the Paris 2024 organising committee, Qatar was represented by 14 athletes competing in five sports: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, and beach volleyball.

Saif Mohammed and Shahad Mohammed also qualified, while Saeed Abu Sharab and Rashid Saleh Al Adhuba competed in the shooting events. Qatar’s weightlifter Fares Ibrahim returns to the Olympics after competing in the 2016 and 2020 Games.
In 2016, he placed eighth in the men’s 85 kg, later updated to seventh after the original bronze medalist failed a drug test. In 2020, Ibrahim made history by winning Qatar’s first Olympic gold medal in weightlifting, setting an Olympic record in the clean and jerk with 225kg.
