New launches and the latest innovations at the Cleaning Show 2021
After a year that has seen heightened awareness of the importance of cleanliness and sanitation, it is more important than ever for businesses across all industry sectors to embed effective and safe hygiene practices into their daily routines. Helping businesses and cleaning professionals discover the next big product innovation and to learn from leading industry experts, the Cleaning Show 2021 returns to ExCeL, London from 2-4 November, and will welcome some of the industry’s leading suppliers as they showcase innovative cleaning products to an expected 7000 attendees. Autonomous cleaning will be high on the agenda. ICE, the UK’s largest independent provider of cleaning equipment, will be on hand to showcase its wide range of future friendly cleaning solutions. Among its newly launched products, ICE will demonstrate its new UV Bot - the latest in its cobotics range, designed to advance autonomous cleaning through innovation. It enables the operator to add disinfectant and set tasks before the self-driving UV Bot begins its work. It is complete with 3D obstacle avoidance and 360° UV-C and ultrasonic dry mist disinfection. Darren Marston, executive chairman of ICE, will be speaking in the Cleaning Show Conference at 10.30am on Wednesday 3 November. His presentation is entitled: ‘The rise of the Co-Bots: how autonomous cleaning can support and enhance current cleaning practices’. Also with a focus on autonomous cleaning, Killis will demonstrate its Leobot. Designed to maximise productivity and optimise cleaning efficiency, it uses up to 70% less water than some robots, delivering an eco-friendly and safe alternative to enable
operatives to increase the cleaning frequency of those all-important touch points. Other hot topics at the event – the first dedicated cleaning and hygiene show since the COVID-19 outbreak – will be newly developed sanitising and disinfecting solutions. Amongst these, Vycel will show its electrostatic sprayer designed to deliver a positively charged water-based antimicrobial spray, quickly sanitising and disinfecting 100% of surfaces within just 30 seconds. P-Wave will also show its GermErase 24hr disinfectant product in partnership with GermErase, whilst IK Sprayers will be introducing its new IK e 15 BS to visitors which comes with four specifically designed nozzles to improve effectiveness, safety, and speed of treatments. This is going to be a great event, bringing our industry back together to celebrate all that has been achieved during the pandemic, and looking at solutions to meet future challenges. Further details of the Cleaning Show can be found on Pages 2438 of this issue of this issue – and at www.cleaningshow.co.uk, where free registration is also available. I wish you a clean, tidy and healthy month ahead.

HEALTHCARE & HOSPITAL HYGIENE
An effective cleaning routine is critical for hospital hygiene Daniel Took, head of product at Kärcher Professional Products, discusses how to ensure year-round cleanliness within the healthcare sector. MAINTAINING hygiene in hospitals and healthcare facilities is a critical step in the safe operation and management of these establishments. Wards, surgery rooms and treatment rooms must be disinfected between each patient, necessitating immediate, consistent and repetitive cleaning. Intermediate cleaning ensures that the facilities are constantly maintained to a high standard, making less frequent, intense cleans even more efficient when required. To achieve this the PDIR (Preventative, Daily, Interim and Restorative cleaning and maintenance) cleaning process is an ideal practice for facilities managers.

HEALTHCARE & HOSPITAL HYGIENE
The vital healthcare ingredient During the global pandemic it has become more important than ever to keep hospitals clean and germ-free. Liam Mynes from Tork manufacturer Essity considers the importance of training in ensuring these outcomes. CLEANING and hand hygiene are vital in any healthcare setting. Cleaning operatives have a duty of care to keep the floors and surfaces sanitised, while medical staff need to ensure that their hands remain clean and virus-free to avoid the risk of cross-contamination. But while hand hygiene and surface cleaning are both relatively straightforward tasks, many healthcare workers are still getting them wrong. Staff members can all too easily miss an important step in the process - particularly if they have received inadequate training or are in a hurry to move on to the next job. Not every medical worker will be washing their

A ‘total-solutions’ approach to healthcare disinfection INFECTION prevention and housekeeping teams have more choice than ever before. Conventional products are still widely used but new formulations and technologies can complement, enhance or replace existing processes. Diversey’s ‘360’ or total-solutions approach offers traditional products alongside innovations. This provides healthcare professionals with total flexibility to choose the most suitable hand and surface disinfection solutions for their specific requirements. Cleaner-disinfectants, disinfectants and wipes in Diversey’s Oxivir range contain patented AHP (accelerated hydrogen peroxide) as the active ingredient. These products offer broad-spectrum protection - they are effective against a wide range of viruses, spores, yeasts, and fungi, including C. diff, MRSA, Norovirus, E. coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Products in the range kill viruses in 30 seconds in dirty conditions. Their efficacy has been tested to the latest EN standards, including EN14476. Need to achieve a next level clean? Vileda Professional is proud to support the cleaning industry in the fight against the ongoing pandemic. In every product and system we develop, we always strive to provide the highest level of cleaning performance and hygiene benefits. We take this occasion to recognise and thank them for helping to prevent the spread of Sars-Cov-19. The result is the outstanding mechanical cleaning performance of our textiles, validated scientifically by independent test institutes. The soap lathers effectively during hand washing and is rinsed away quickly, reducing the amount of water used by up to 35%. And the product formula is biodegradable and has a reduced impact on aquatic life. The soap contains plant-based ingredients and is effective against viruses and bacteria including COVID-19, SARS and HIV. It is gentle on the hands and helps to remove food fat residues.
