Though his appearance is laid back, his delivery is powerful. Jay articulates his lyrics, making every word clear. While others may make music that is young and playful, Jay’s music is dope and relatable, of which there is a void in the industry right now. Jay McGhee is filling that void. Jay McGhee has been true to himself since the beginning. The grandson of legends in the music industry, Jeremy “Jay McGhee” McGhee has been in tune with music his whole life. Since the age of five, Jay has been entertaining artists and making a name for himself, from playing musical instruments and singing to dancing and performing like Prince. However, he really never thought he had the right voice for singing, nor did he too much enjoy playing musical instruments. At one time, Jay even considered becoming a producer like his father, Eddie McGhee.

It wasn’t until the age of nine, however, that he really decided that he wanted to be a serious entertainer and hip-hop artist. He was nearly deterred when he let his grandfather, James Alexander, founding member of the legendary group the BarKays, hear his music. His grandfather was brutally honest, telling him “Hey man, it’s not that good!” That tough love didn’t discourage him though… it only made him work harder because Jay felt he had something to prove. Knowing that he had time to learn and grow, he hoped one day his grandfather would like his music and support it. Jay was only nine, and even at that age, he knew that music was his passion and that he’d be the entertainer he was determined to become.

“Stay true to yourself and as long as you feel your music, everyone else will. Make people believe you are the greatest at your music."

For the next five years, Jay continued to make music, rapping with fellow rapper Raw B, forming a group called “Reckless Boys” and later “The Supreme Team” with his brother and cousin all through high school. By that time, Jay had developed his own style, ‘a clean grown ass man style with a street savvy’ and powerful lyrics that makes a person stop and listen.

Incarcerated for five years, Jay had to put his life and his music aspirations on hold. He didn’t give up, but rather continued to write music and concepts during that time. By the time he was released, he had written over a thousand songs and had more than a thousand different concepts for new songs. Now, Jay is going harder than ever with his music. With support from his fiancée and his immediate family, Jay has pushed past the struggle and is making his talent work for him. His latest project is a single called “Irritating” featuring Bigg Dee, which comes from the upcoming album “Truly Gifted” set to be released early 2018. He plans to also release a mixtape, a prelude to the album, entitled “Breaking the Curse” scheduled to be released later in 2017. Growing up in the poorest neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, life was not always on the sunny side. Jay experienced pain, hard times and the struggle.

“My biggest disappointment was being incarcerated for five years, which put a lot of things on hold. I don’t know where I would be right now if that wouldn’t have happened.”

having a musical family is that Jay pays more attention to hip-hop facts, stats and details now.

“My music IQ is very high. I’m a student of the game and very musically inclined, so my style is a mixture of street smart, grown ass man and can still conduct myself in a business meeting with top executives.”

“They don’t know my struggle, but the music says it all. My hard work, determination and talent speaks for itself.” For Booking or Features, Call (901) www.JayMcGheeKOM.comJamesA1950@gmail.com581-3259 Electronic Press Kit (EPK) Designed by RaeShantael at www.RaeGrafix.com (901) 231-9521 • info@raegrafix.com
