“My Music speaks consciousness for the belief and understanding that our mind is greater than we know. It doesn’t hope for everyone to like, but to give a listening ear, gain knowledge and mental freedom. I can confidently say through experience that music is the safest drug for a high and the most organic for a cure.”
Range is a dexterous female talent whose mission is to encourage the infinite life of reggae music by writing and performing timeless reggae music.
Range is musically inclined, and this is demonstrated in her writing. She is the future for a generation of conscious reggae. Her unique ability to deliver her message while gaining instant attention and engagement with her audience is nothing short of musical gold. With each performance, Range effortlessly grabs her listeners attention as they digest every particle of her lyrics. She quenches her audience’s thirst with versatility, baptizing their minds in pure flowing lyrical magic.
Born Shana Blair, Range grew up rural Saint Ann’s Bay, Jamaica in a mixed cultural family dynamic where one of her three brothers were Rastafarian as well as four of her uncles. Her father had a great love and appreciation for music and would play his own Do-it-Yourself home music system, which he referred to as the “Fredlocks Sound System”, that consisted mostly of real authentic roots reggae. She discovered her own passion for music by learning to play a basic recorder in music class. Her persistent practice resulted in a squeaky sweet annoyance to her neighbors. Being exposed to old school, roots rock, lover’s rock, ruba-dub and other authentic reggae and listening to songs from genres that would be overlooked by her peers made her taste for music very diverse and unique. Her passion for singing would lead her to sing at church functions, community events, and school concerts.
Range moved from St. Ann to Portmore St. Catherine, Jamaica where she frequented local karaoke and talent shows to watch the musical performances of other young talents in hopes that one day, she would gain the courage to be a professional artiste...a musical genius. Her purpose would be to encourage positive changes in the musical world.
However, the reality of life opposed Range’s idealistic mindset as she was constantly reminded by her grandmother about the importance of being fully educated. Following this advice, she enrolled at Waterford High School for extension classes and began her job search. She landed her first job as a customer service representative at JACS Cable and it was there that she had the opportunity to interact with some of the

After moving to New York City, Range re-connected with and married her high school sweetheart who insisted that they both attend college together. They both completed degrees in Business Management and her husband, who was equally passionate about music, knew how exceptional her talent was and encouraged her to continue pursuing her music career and involving herself in music related activities to keep her passion and goals alive. He constructively critiqued and edited her work, while clearly stating his intention of showing the world how talented she was. He encouraged her to begin recording music at a music recording studio. She obliged and her talent left a positive impression on the likes of music veterans such as Luciano, Edd Robinson, Michael Palmer, Demus and Pappa Biggie. It was then that Range stepped out of her comfort zone and found her place as an artiste. She started experimenting with different genres of music and her creativity and distinction brought the realization of how special she is as a reggae artiste. Her soulful voice and her lyrical expression of conscious and mentally refreshing music is unmatched. As she continued to experiment with different beats and creating her own uniqueness, brainstorming for an artiste stage name was effortless. The name “Range” was the perfect fit. In 2016 Range wrote and released the track “Inward Rasta” produced by Full Rev Entertainment and Kheilstone Music. She performed the song for the first time at “Sound Di Alarm,” a Reggae festival hosted by the “Diamond Socks” singer, Iba Mahr. Shortly after this debut performance, she shot the video for “Inward Rasta” in February of 2017 at Rasta village in Miami, FL. This video was debuted by Reggaeville and received amazing reviews and positive feedback sparking hundreds of thousands of views. Range also debuted “Sufferation” as a collaboration with Vershon and produced by Y.G.F. Records, “Alone,” produced by Shellaz Records, and her most recent “Six Feet Under,” produced by Jugglers on the Zanzibar Riddim. Range is currently working on other projects with her team that were released Summer 2018. These songs represent real life, the acknowledgement of a superior being, strength, positivity and awareness. Range believes that if we try hard enough, we can all change the world through music and make it a better place.
customers who were also local artistes. It was not long after that Range was discovered by Pulse International Model Agency, as well as Zahni International and she began a career in modeling. She represented the runway for LA Models in California, Tysum Talent, Runways in Florida and walked for Karen Lee, the eye of Ford models in New York City.
Range is a strong believer in humanitarianism and is an active member in her local community. She is in the process of creating a charity that is geared towards community development. She believes that providing food and other basic necessities to the elderly, it will help to eliminate hunger and poverty. This is an effort she hopes local promoters and fans will partake in as a means of bonding, strengthening the community and showing appreciation to those who set the mark for this generation and generations to come.
“The art of reggae music is an easel it holds every genre like a steady canvas then brushes and paints the images of every aspect of life” -Range
