The YMCA of San Diego County is dedicated to helping all community members to access facilities and programs. We offer a scholarship program based on household need. Our swim lessons are taught by certified swim instructors and foster a safe, motivating environment for swimmers of all needs and abilities. Structured lesson plans include group and individual work, at-home activities and instructor to parent/caregiver communication. The Rancho Family YMCA Swim Team is a year-round program that focuses on quality competitive training, good sportsmanship, dedication, development of friendships, and fun! Personal Training
At the Y, we have a team of highly qualified personal trainers available to optimize your time, energy and exercise routine. Our trainers have a variety of specialties and will provide you with a personalized, functional and effective workout. We offer one-on-one, partner training and small-group personal training packages.
Hiking Club
Join us one Saturday each month October through May for a beautiful and lively walk on local trails. Past hikes include Tecolote Canyon and Iron Mountain. Please bring plenty of water and dress in layers. Hiking Club is also available to participants for an affordable fee.
Wellness Orientations
Schedule a free orientation and meet with a Wellness Coach to learn about the programs, classes or equipment that best fit you and your goals. You will learn how to use our equipment and get set up for success in the Wellness Center. Types or orientations include: • Equipment Orientations • Family Orientation (ages 7-12, with a parent) • TeenFit Orientation (ages 13-17) Orientations are mandatory for members ages 7-17.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, sports at the Y are a great way to have fun with friends, improve your skills, and stay active and healthy! Our sports programs are offered at our Scripps Poway Site, Rancho Program Center and Deer Canyon Elementary. Martial Arts and Karate classes are located at the Rancho Family YMCA.
Pee-Wee & Youth Sports
Our youth and peewee sports teach fundamentals and sportsmanship to young athletes while letting them have fun, be active, and learn to love a sport at the Y. Our youth sports specialists also offer personal coaching to give your young athlete one-on-one, sport specific training.
Youth Sports Clinics
Stay active while school is out! Our half-day Sports Clinic is held at Scripps Poway YMCA Fields for children ages 5-13. Participants have fun learning and practicing soccer, basketball, t-ball, and flag football skills in a fun, instructional environment. Check our website for more dates and type of clinic. 5th Grade Bike Club
Our renowned Bike Club program is designed for the beginning cyclist as well as the true bike enthusiast. Curriculum includes weekly activities such as cycling etiquette, specific training techniques, and mechanics as well as cadence rides, hill climbs, and a 5-cities tour through beautiful San Diego County. Bike Club is a pre-requisite for the Ride Across California.
Ride Across California
Local fifth graders take the challenge of riding 267 miles across the state of California. Starting in Yuma, AZ and ending in San Diego, CA this event encourages physical fitness as well as character building by showing kids how proper training and planning can enable them to accomplish any goal they set.
VE & PLAY... Martial Arts & Karate
Martial arts classes allow you to develop your spirit, mind, and body in an encouraging, nonintimidating, and family-friendly environment. Our instructors are among the best in their respective martial art and will ensure that you’ll learn the value of hard work, discipline, honor, integrity and respect. All martial arts classes are held at the Rancho Family YMCA. We offer family karate for youth and adults to build self-esteem, respect for others and discipline.

Does your child’s holiday schedule not match your schedule? We’re here to help! We offer week-long School-Break Camps and single-day Vacation Fun Days when San Diego Unified and Poway Unified School Districts are out of session. E GUIDESLINAdventure Guides
Adventure Guides is designed to strengthen the relationship between a parent and a child. Fathers and their children (sons and/or daughters) enjoy weekend camp outs, day trips and more! Families determine their level of involvement. Adventures Guides is open to all families in the community with children in grades K-5, and you do not need to be a YMCA member to participate. Expeditions are separated by school zones. • Black Mountain Expedition: Rancho Peñasquitos, Del Sur & 4S Ranch • Pomerado Expedition: Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Poway & Carmel Mountain
Trailblazers
Trailblazers is an extension of our Adventure Guides program but designed for children in grades 6-10. Each month Trailblazers will alternate between trips with one of our Adventure Guides Expeditions.

Tumble Into Fun!
The Rancho Family YMCA is proud to offer classes that can help you learn gymnastics in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. All classes are held at Canyonside Recreation Center on a monthly basis and pre-registration is required.
Gymventure Classes
Our Gymventures program offers age-appropriate classes for children, from walking age up to 6 years. Each class is designed to help children gain coordination, balance, listening, social skills and motor skills in a fun gymnastics environment. • Gymventures 1 & 2: Parent-Child participation class for ages 1-2. INLCUDED with Family Memberships. • Transitional 2s: Parent-Child participation class, the bridge between being with a parent and doing a class alone. • Gymventures 3,4,5: Coed classes divided by age, introduce students to all gymnastics equipment.
Gymnastics Classes
Progressive gymnastics classes are based on the skills, levels and progressions developed by USA Gymnastics. Gymnasts will learn the basic skills to progress through each level of the program. Classes are designed to allow for a smooth transition from one class level to the next. Girls work on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Boys will work on floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.

We also offer specialty classes such as high school gymnastics and tumbling.

The Y fields a girls gymnastics team that competes in USA Gymnastics. We offer Junior Olympic Levels 3-9 as well as XCEL Teams. Contact the Gymnastics Director for more information on team.

Dance classes provide an outlet for developing self-expression, grace, strength, agility, creativity and balance — plus a fun way to engage in active, healthy living. Born to Lead!
Rancho Family YMCA cultivates leaders by providing opportunities for young adults to develop the necessary skills to actively contribute to their community. Teen programs at the Y encourage teens to explore new interests, gain confidence, and develop leadership and public speaking skills. Through these programs the Y helps teens set and achieve personal and educational goals.
Model United Nations
The Model United Nations provides a unique opportunity for middle school students to gain leadership, public speaking, and logical reasoning skills, all while learning about and developing an understanding of international issues. Weekly meetings are held at Rancho Family YMCA from January through April. The program includes a training conference in March which prepares students for the Model United Nations Summit in April.
Middle Schol Leadership Conference

This leadership conference is a great opportunity for middle school students to gain quality leadership skills, build self-confidence, learn team building and budgeting, and have fun on the climbing wall, hiking, and socializing with friends. The Middle School Leadership Conference is typically held at Camp Marston in Julian during a weekend in March. Watch our website for information about this great leadership opportunity for middle school students.
RN TO LEAD... Youth & Government
This great program changes thousands of lives each year. With a focus on California State Government, Youth and Government works with students to create bills, improve public speaking, and help students gain self confidence. Youth and Government runs September through February and includes conferences in November and January that prepare future leaders for the culminating February conference in Sacramento. This tremendous program will give teens an opportunity to build relationships, gain self-confidence and acquire leadership skills while learning about social responsibility. Parents, take Saturday night off and be assured your children will have the time of their lives in a safe and fun environment with caring staff. Children ages 3-12 will enjoy four hours filled with games, crafts, sports, and fun! Please feed your child dinner prior to arriving to Kid’s Night Out. Feel free to send your child with a water bottle, snack, blanket, pillow and comfort item. All children must be potty trained.

Rancho Family YMCA Sports Department collaborates with local elementary schools in our service area to provide Playground Partners. Playground Partners works to assist schools in creating a safe, fun, and fair environment for students at lunch recess. Professional YMCA staff lead games, sports, and activities for all students. Contact our Sports Coordinator to find out how to get your school involved.
Help feed families in need by donating your excess citrus and vegetable garden produce to The Backyard Produce Project. Drop off your produce every Monday in our lobby.
Volunteer Opportunities
There is no other volunteer organization quite like the Y. As little as one hour a week can make a difference to good health, strong connections, greater self-confidence, and a sense of security to all who seek it. Volunteer opportunities are available for teens needing service hours too! A volunteer application is required and available on www.ymca.org.

PQ Certified Farmers Market
From veggies and fruits to pastries and food trucks, the PQ Certified Farmers Market offers the opportunity to shop local. Held every Saturday in the Rancho Family YMCA Parking Lot from 9am-1pm, San Diego vendors bring the community healthy options. Sponsored by PQ Town Council and City of San Diego. We also offer seasonal holiday markets. Check our website for updates on vendors, the seasonal harvest calendar and more market updates! What is a certified market? A certified farmers market is a location approved by the County Agricultural Commissioner where certified farmers offer for sale only those agricultural products they grow themselves, or products from another certified farmer.
