A LETTER FROM LEADERSHIP Dear Y Camp Families, Summer 2017 is quickly approaching! The Rancho Family YMCA is thrilled to kick off the 2017 Summer Camp Season. We strive to create the best possible summer experience for all campers and families. We understand the ultimate summertime goal is for a safe and structured environment, where your children can stay active while having a blast. Our Summer 2017 program has been designed to encourage friendships, foster learning and create the opportunity to belong to something bigger. Each week, campers will try something new, engage in team building and group activities, participate in global education, and make new friends, creating the ultimate summer camp experience. By choosing the Y, your family is joining a day camp program that has been accredited by the American Camp Association, which is only granted by meeting the highest standards in the nation’s day camp industry, passing more than 200 requirements to ensure the best camp environment possible. Each summer we aim to provide a varied selection of camps to allow your children the opportunity to try new experiences that interest them. This summer we have some exciting new camps including Chess, Pokémon, and Build-A-Camp. Let your children explore natural curiosities and challenge themselves cognitively, physically and socially in our many camp options offered by the Y. Thank you for trusting us to be a part of your family’s summer. We are excited for the Best Summer Ever! Sincerely, The Rancho YMCA Summer Camp Team ranchocamp@ymca.org

WELCOME! BEST SUMMER EVER!

CAMP CONTACTS

Summer Camps at Rancho Family YMCA are separated into five villages by grade* level. Camps in each village provide campers the opportunity to discover, explore, create and learn with their peers.

General Camp Questions ranchocamp@ymca.org

Third and Fifth grade participants and their families have the option to select which village the camper would like to participate in. We ask, for consistency, that campers remain in the same village all summer.

Y CAMP IS F.A.B. We believe that children thrive in environments where they can create FRIENDSHIPS gain a sense of ACHIEVEMENT & feel a sense of BELONGING. It is our priority to ensure that whether your child is with us for one week or ten that they leave Y Camp with new friends, new experiences and a place to call their own.

WHY THE Y? Going Global

As citizens of the world, we believe in the importance of teaching campers about acceptance, diversity and inclusion. Each week campers will spend 1-2 hours on global education in order to gain a greater understanding of self and the communities where we live in relation to the world.

Camp Spirit

In addition, every week will feature a fun camp theme with fun crafts and activities planned. On Friday, we encourage our campers (and staff!) to dress up in an awesome (camp-appropriate themed dress-up costume). Each week our campers will celebrate a new theme at camp!

Youth Development

YMCA Camp Staff receive more than 24 hours of training covering behavior management, facilitating friendships, inclusion and more.

Safety First

Safety is our number one priority. All staff go through an extensive interview process including reference checks and a background check and are CPR and First-Aid certified.

Self Confidence

YMCA Summer Camp is a place for your child to call their own. We want your camper to create lifelong memories while exploring their own interests and have carefully designed our program to allow them to do just that.
