Changing Lives, Developing Children, Engaging Families. The Rancho Family YMCA strives to make a difference in our community by making it stronger. Jeff and I had the privilege to lead these efforts this past year, and it has been an honor and opportunity to serve. It is humbling to be surrounded by a dynamic all-volunteer board, and a talented staff team. It is also incredible to see the financial support from donors, and the community, to ensure we can serve everyone that walks through our doors. Our Y had a number of firsts in 2017 including providing more financial scholarships to families in one year than ever before. We also operated the first YMCA Farmers Market in San Diego, invested over $300,000 in capital improvements in our facilities, replaced all of our strength equipment in the wellness center, and included new programs like LIVESTRONGŽ at the YMCA, Body Combat by Les Mills™, new camps, and launched our new Kickstart wellness program. Plus, we raised more funds in our Annual Campaign than in recent years, providing over $230,000 in direct scholarship and subsidy to our community. We continue to break down barriers of isolation through programs and services such as: inclusion support for children disabilities to participate alongside their peers at no extra cost to families; special Y membership rates for military families; reduced day passes for shower access for the homeless; and our YAA program which offers seniors a place to stay healthy and active while making new friends. What matters the most, are the lives we have changed. Families and children continue to tell us how important their experience here at the Rancho YMCA has been, and the positive impact it has had in their lives. Isolation and disconnection continue to threaten communities across this country and the Y believes that our doors are always open to anyone that is looking to connect with their community. Thank you to all of our members, donors, volunteers, staff and board members. You are creating a place FOR A BETTER US™.

New to the Rancho Family YMCA this spring, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA gives cancer survivors the opportunity to come to the Y to heal. We believe in partnering with people experiencing cancer to create a safe, loving and caring environment. Cancer knows no boundaries, but we believe in the strength of community and that every survivor deserves unconditional support, a chance to belong, and an opportunity to feel “normal” as they regain their strength.
