A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR Dear Parents, Summer 2016 is fast approaching! The Rancho Family YMCA is excited to kick off the 2016 Summer Camp Season! We strive to create the best possible summer experience for you and your child. We understand that you want a safe, fun and structured environment in which your children can stay active. Our summer 2016 program is designed to foster learning, making and being a friend and becoming a part of something bigger. Each week, campers will have the opportunity to try something new, engage in team building and group activities, participate in global education and make new friends. By choosing the Y you are joining a day camp program that is American Camp Association (ACA) accredited. We meet the highest standards in the nation’s day camping industry by passing over 200 requirements. We aim to keep a fresh menu of camps available to provide campers with variety. With that in mind, the Rancho Family YMCA has added several new and exciting camps this summer including LEGO: Pneumatics, Photography, Theatre, and three new cooking camps! Let your child explore their natural curiosity and challenge themselves cognitively, physically and socially in one of the many camp options offered by the Y. WHO WE ARE

Summer Camps at Rancho Family YMCA are separated into five villages by grade* level. Camps in each village provide campers the opportunity to discover, explore, create and learn with their peers.

Safety is our main priority and we hire the best staff so your camper can have a great experience. All Y camp staff receive more than 24 hours of training covering behavior management, facilitating friendships, and inclusion. In addition, all staff are CPR and First Aid Certified.

Teaches and encourages children to show sportsmanship and teamwork in a group environment while playing a variety of active games and sports. Strong basics are the building blocks to good gymnastics. This camp is for boys and girls from beginner to experienced skill levels. Campers are introduced to all apparatuses and begin work on gymnastics skills, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Campers are grouped by ability and age for instruction from our experienced YMCA coaches. Campers should wear close-toed shoes that are easy to get on/off and loosefitting clothing.

Fore! Send your golfer to join us at Oaks North Golf Course for a week on the greens. Golfers will learn etiquette, rules, putting, chipping, driving and iron play during the week. This camp is designed for the hockey enthusiast as a fun and learning experience, for the beginner to intermediate ice skater wanting to learn some stick skills on the ice. Hockey campers will get a 30 minute instructional lesson and a 30 minute off ice element every day. Instruction will include skating, balance, speed, stick work, control, and teamwork. Jr. Chefs builds a tangible relationship between food & nutrition, cultivates cultural bonds, strengthens community and creates lasting friendships. Campers will walk away from this course with a basic knowledge of the science, math and history of food as well as experience with knife cuts and recipe creation.

This camp is all about new ways to have fun on the paintball field. Tips and drills to improve one’s game are practiced in the morning, followed by different game scenarios each day. Mr. Paintball U.S.A provides supervised games within its 100 plus acres of fields for all levels of play. Campers will be provided with paintable play gear, 500 rounds of paintballs, coveralls (as needed) and a referee to manage the games. Safety briefing/training is an integral part of the program. For safety reasons, campers may not bring their own paintball guns or paintballs. Wear old clothing and sturdy close-toed shoes.

Come scale to new heights! Our indoor rock climbing camp takes place at Solid Rock Gym, San Diego’s premier indoor rock climbing facility, and covers the basic technical skills of rock climbing as well as the fundamentals of the climbing movement. This program is designed for teens looking to develop their leadership skills. Participants will receive one week of training with the opportunity to obtain First Aid/CPR certifications. Teens learn skills, techniques and methods to prepare themselves for employment as camp counselors or other professional youth workers. Training includes teamwork, program planning, characteristics of a great counselor, effective communication, behavior management for children, basic safety and leading large group activities. Program cost includes two additional summer weeks and one school break week for participants to put their skills into practice. Completion of the program guarantees an interview for a 2017 Camp Assistant position (must be 16 years by June 2017).

By registering for camp you are agreeing to follow the YMCA refund policy and 2016 Parent Guide detailing Rancho Family YMCA camp policies and procedures. The Parent Guide is available at our Member Services Desk and online at www.rancho. ymca.org/camp.

Camp Fees: The published rates in this brochure are good up to the Monday before camp begins. Late fee of $25 will be applied to registrations received Tuesday or later for the following week.

You may reserve a space for your child by paying the full camp fee or with a non-refundable deposit for each camp. Balances are due the Monday of the week prior to each camp.

CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS, Y-VOUCHER AND REFUND POLICY

Cancellations: If you request to cancel your enrollment before the start of the camp week, you will receive a 100% Y-voucher or refund minus any deposit or vendor fees. If you request to cancel your enrollment the Monday of the camp week, you will receive a 75% Y-voucher or refund minus any deposit or vendor fees.

PARENT ORIENTATION
