The all-new Volvo XC90

Months of speculation ended after Volvo Cars unveiled its all-new Volvo XC90, delivering on its promise to introduce a visually striking, premium quality sevenseat SUV with world leading safety features, new powertrain technologies, an unrivalled combination of power and fuel efficiency and a superlative interior finish. The car will be presented for the first time in Switzerland during Geneva Motor Show 2015.

The new XC90 will be the first Volvo car to carry the company’s new more prominent iron mark, which has the iconic arrow elegantly aligned with the diagonal slash across the grille. Together with the T-shaped “Thor’s Hammer” DRL lights, the iron mark introduces an entirely new, distinctive and confident face for Volvo’s forthcoming generation of cars.

La philosophie d’Héli-Alpes ? Jean-Daniel Berthod la résume en une phrase : « On dit oui… et après on trouve une solution ! », « Nous sommes souples, disponibles ! », rebondit Jean-Luc Grech. « On se lève la nuit, s’il le faut ! », complète Francis Sermier. « Nous sommes trois patrons qui pilotent, c’est ce qui fait notre réussite », résume notre trio de Valaisan, à la tête d’Héli-Alpes. Complétons le tableau des meneurs avec Jean-Marc Sermier qui reste plus dans la partie administrative.

Avant de fonder Héli-Alpes, on trouve des mordus qui exercent des professions très diverses. Comme cet ingénieur qui se spécialise dans l’électronique (Jean-Daniel Berthod). Ou encore ce passionné qui passe de la mécanique à la cuisine (Jean-Luc Grech). Voire ce constructeur qui vend des parois en béton antibruit (Francis Sermier). « Nous avions tous des entreprises, chacun de notre côté, et nous nous faisons plaisir », décrit le trio. Tous décrochent des licences de pilotes d’avions, de planeurs ou d’hélicoptères. À la tête d’Héli-Nostalgie, puis d’Héli-Passion, les heures de vols prennent une tournure professionnelle. « Nous devions concilier ces activités avec nos boulots respectifs. C’était un peu une zone grise. Vis-à-vis des autres compagnies, il fallait régulariser cette situation ».

LEADER SUISSE DANS LE DOMAINE Au printemps 2005, Héli-Alpes décolle officiellement. Dans le milieu, on pense que la société n’existera que durant trois ans. Fausse prévision car les affaires progressivement s’étoffent. Héli-Alpes sait négocier les virages économiques et consolider sa situation.

En 2014, une dizaine de personnes remplissent les missions d’Héli-Alpes. La firme dispose d’un vivier de pilotes en free-lance qui lui permet une très vive réactivité.

Héli-Alpes possède, en bonus, cinq instructeurs qui font fonctionner une école de pilotage. Ce qui débouche sur toutes les licences possibles. Cette formation la désigne comme le leader suisse en la matière. Les hangars se sont modernisés sur 2 000 m2 avec salon d’accueil, locaux privés.

Transport, baptêmes de l’air, sortie golf ou gastronomique, l’offre fait plus que séduire, elle cartonne. « Il y a des matinées où, huit de nos machines sont engagées.

Oui, on peut dire qu’en dix ans, nous sommes devenus une société dynamique et florissante », sourient les patrons pilotes d’Héli-Alpes.

Les tièdes, les gens sans rêves, ne volent pas. Francis Sermier a beaucoup rêvé et il s’est retrouvé dans les airs. Jean-Daniel Berthod, aussi. à la racine de ce destin, une fascination partagée pour tout ce qui ressemble à un hélico. « à Sierre, j’habitais à l’avenue du Marché, et j’entendais les vols qui se dirigeaient vers l’hôpital. Je me déplaçais en courant, j’allais sur place, et lorsque je voyais Fernand Martignoni poser sa machine, pour moi, c’était Noël ! » Jamais, à l’époque, Francis Sermier n’aurait pensé en piloter un ! « Je venais d’une famille modeste. Pour moi, c’était tout simplement inaccessible, inatteignable ! » Jean-Daniel Berthod aborde le domaine sous un autre angle, tout aussi passionné. « Dès l’âge de 14 ans, j’ai fait voler des hélicoptères… télécommandés ! Ces engins faisaient plus de bruit et de vent qu’ils ne décollaient réellement. J’ai même fabriqué une nouvelle tête de rotor, parce que celle qui était sur le marché ne me plaisait pas ! » et sa première expérience dans un « vrai » hélicoptère, Jean-Daniel n’est pas prêt de l’oublier. « Le baptême de l’air s’effectuait en décollant depuis la place de la Planta, à Sion. Fernand Martignoni était aux commandes. Au moment de se poser avec son alouette 3, je l’ai vu se moucher ! » Ces fous des pales ne pouvaient que rencontrer des terrains d’intersection.

Au sein du groupe hélico Sion, dès 1987, où chacun va s’engager à passer une licence. « J’ai commencé à piloter dès 1973, sur des planeurs, ou des avions. Mais les hélicos m’attendaient. ils me faisaient de l’oeil. J’étais prêt ! » entrer dans Héli-Passion, cela signifie s’engager à piloter vingt heures en solo ou passer une licence. « J’avais signé pour 20 heures de vol, il en fallait 35 pour passer la license.

A 35 heures et 12 minutes, j’embarquais ma femme pour un baptême de l’air !

Juste après, il y a eu ma première qualification sur hélicoptèe à turbine… », dit Jean-Daniel Berthod.

ConFianCe DanS le CoCKPit A force de s’entendre dire qu’une compagnie est une affaire de professionnels, nos amis le deviennent. « Il suffisait de franchir le pas. tous les deux, nous étions mordus. Pour nous, le bruit d’une turbine dans les oreilles, c’est une symphonie ! », résume Francis Sermier. Aujourd’hui, Héli-Alpes développe des créneaux laissés libres par d’autres compagnies. De sacrées heures de vol qui permettent à Francis comme Jean-Daniel d’observer leurs mutuelles qualités. « Jean-Daniel possède une maîtrise de l’informatique. il est posé, réfléchi et très cartésien », relève Francis Sermier. « Nous nous faisons plus que confiance dans un cockpit où les tensions peuvent très vite monter, complète Jean-Daniel. Dans des situations délicates, Francis peut même se révéler encore plus prudent que moi… ». Une telle entente, dans les airs comme sur le plancher des vaches, explique par l’exemple l’évolution d’Héli-Alpes.

Zermatt Swatch Skiers Cup ���� 21 au 27 février 2015

Zermatt, Switzerland - It is now confirmed, the Swatch Skiers Cup, the international freeskiing’s yearly intercontinental showdown, will take place on February 21-27 2015 in Zermatt, Switzerland. Julien Regnier (FRA) returns as captain of Team Europe and Seth Morrison (USA) leading Team Americas.

The fifth edition of the Swatch Skiers Cup will be marked by the loss of one of skiings most remarkable and truly inspirational human beings, JP Auclair (CAN), former captain of Team Americas who won the competition last winter. JP was a pioneer for putting the “free” back into freestyle and freeskiing. He passed away in an avalanche accident late September together with fellow freeskier Andreas Fransson, in Patagonia. In honor of his person and role in creating a whole new era of skiing at the entrance to this millennium, this edition of the Skiers Cup will be dedicated in memoriam of JP Auclair.

In this unique freeskiing event, seven of the best riders from each region are selected by a team captain. In a face off in match play format during two days of competition, the teams will compete in both Big Mountain (freeride) and Backcountry Slopestyle (freestyle). Once again, Zermatt will be hosting the event, guaranteeing outstanding terrain in a spectacular setting in front of the almighty Matterhorn. The Backcountry Slopestyle competition and special entertainment in the village are all accessible to the public which adds to the very special atmosphere of this event.

Julien Regnier will return to his role as captain for Team Europe. With an international career that started in 1998 when he qualified for the French Olympic Team in mogul skiing at the age of 18, Julien has ever since continued to evolve in the skiing world. He is considered a visionary rebel, a trendsetter and a strong asset in the evolution of freeskiing and ski equipment.

Julien is dedicating this competition to his friend JP by reminding us what he stood for and what skiing is all about: “We will make this edition unforgettable.

I want to see smiles and epic skiing - thatʼs what the Skierʼs Cup is about. It will be my way to ride one last time with JP.” Beginning his ski career about a decade earlier than his European counter part, captain of Team Americas 2015, Seth Morrison is the evergreen of skiing. Starring in so many movies that it could make any Hollywood star jealous, he has been generously sharing his ski passion with the world for 25 years. As to his motivation for being the new team captain, Seth also keeps JP Auclair in mind and heart: I accepted this title in regret, only hoping to make JP proud. It will be exciting what teams the two captains can manage to bring together to settle the current even score of 2-2 after the first four editions.

Serge Albertini,has been based in Verbier since 1984, where he runs an architect's firm. He has also been operating in Geneva for the past ten years. For almost thirty years now, more than 338 projects have been implemented, from light transformation, to extension of chalets, apartments, renovation of chalets, passing through the construction of chalets, rental properties in Verbier and elsewhere, Many Villas and buildings have also been constructed in Geneva and its environs as well as in the Rhone valley.

The firm has also constructed and is currently constructing some villas by the sea.

The firm has been able to remain attentive to its clients, as each project handled corresponds to their wishes and respects the character of different places. In Verbier, the use of typical materials such as stone and wood is and remains a priority, as well as the satisfaction that each project delivered is to the taste of each owner.

Serge Albertini est installé à Verbier depuis 1984, où il exploite un bureau d’architecture. Il a également été associé sur Genève durant une dizaine d’année.

Durant bientôt plus de trente ans, plus de 338 dossiers ont été réalisés, allant de la petite transformation, agrandissement de chalets ou d’appartement, rénovation de chalet, en passant par la construction de chalets, immeubles locatifs à Verbier et ailleurs. Production in our workshop is made-to-measure and according to the specific wishes of our demanding, connoisseur clientele. Our creations include w indows, woodwork , doors, cabinets, bath-room furniture, bookcases, tables, kitchens, benches and other fixtures. Our designer furniture is also of interest to architects and individual clients, for whom we manufacture beautiful, unique pieces.

We work with carefully chosen partners in metal and glass, stone and paint. Our 700 m2 exhibition area warmly welcomes visitors and enables us to present some examples of what we produce.

The architecture studio of S. Morard & P. Coupy SA was established in Verbier in ����, where it develops projects for an eclectic and international private clientele.

Their creations are primarily residential units and hotels.

Their philosophy consists of remaining a confidential office, providing the client throughout the process with a specific central point of contact from the initial approach to the delivery of the finished work to the client�s satisfaction.

The mountain architecture presents specific constraints which they attempt to transcribe into contemporary language while maintaining a respect for high quality natural materials. Great importance is placed on interior spaces in order to create unique living areas where every item of furniture is perfectly adapted to its space.

Their references in the public domain include the hotel No14 in Verbier, and the complete renovation and creation of a wellness centre with swimming pool at Le Verbier Lodge hotel, owned by Sir Richard Branson.

None other than current Formula 1 points leader Nico Rosberg piloted the breathtaking newcomer from the sports car brand of Mercedes-Benz onto the stage.

The emotions ran high for around 400 international guests from the worlds of politics, business and the media, including AMGʼs founders HansWerner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, as the Mercedes-AMG GT made its début in its birthplace.

Previously, Bernd Schneider, five-time DTM champion and with 43 victories the most successful DTM driver of all time, presented a parade of the most famous vehicles from AMGʼs history.

Nendaz Looking towards the future

During the winter season 2014/2015, Switzerland is celebrating its 150 years of winter tourism. As the cradle of winter tourism, St. Moritz is of course playing a major role. But Nendaz, which in fact started its tourism development a century later with its first gondola built in 1958, is also participating in the festivities.

The timing is perfect, as the 4 Vallées ski domain agreement has just been prolonged for the next 18 years! We continue striving to improve our offer and our services.

After building a new gondola between Siviez and the Plan du Fou last winter, it’s the Tortin chairlift’s turn to have a face lift. The rebuilding of the road and pavement, which links the resort to the village, has also been completed. Last but not least, the house of culture is opening its doors on the 12th of December. La Suisse célèbre actuellement ses 150 ans de tourisme d’hiver. En tant que berceau du tourisme hivernal, St. Moritz y jouera un rôle capital. Richard De Tscharner Mountains bring a sort of serenity that each generation takes the time to contemplate, depict, sketch or photograph. Some ten years ago, former banker Richard von Tscharner took over the task.

Today, he pays tribute to Swiss sceneries and to the precious legacy that inspires his work.

His father Hans-Fritz von Tscharner, who regularly visited the summits of Zermatt, did not fail to share his passion for mountain hiking with his son, hence the special interest that Richard de Tscharner has for alpine panoramas.

These landscapes have been at the heart of the photographer’s work, but Richard von Tscharner seeks to capture as much of the marks of his own past than those of mankind’s history. Therefore, he explores places beyond the confines of Switzerland and beyond all familiarity. Notably, he went on a 108-day trip around the globe in 2008, which significantly changed his perspective both as a man and as an artist. This trip was a prelude to von Tscharner’s first exhibition and to the publication of his first book in 2009, Tout un monde.

The photographer also chairs the board of the Fondation Carène, which he established according to the cornerstones that have guided him throughout his life: the transmission of knowledge and the respect for tradition. The Fondation Carène provides its support on a national basis; it collaborated with charitable organizations in Tibet, Cambodia, Guatemala and Haiti, in addition to having entered into a partnership with the Foundation Martin Bodmer in 2013 to support the project Alexandrie la divine.

By means of Hasselblad equipment and through the Fondation Carène, the photographer encourages the preservation of cultural roots, and thus forges a close link between his generation and those to come. Moreover, his photographic archives and all revenues resulting from the sale of his photographs have been allocated to the Fondation Carène.

Richard von Tscharner is currently preparing a new exhibition scheduled for the autumn of 2015 in Versoix (Geneva).

La montagne apporte une forme de sérénité que chaque génération, tour à tour, prend le temps de contempler, dépeindre, croquer ou photographier.

Richard de Tscharner prit la relève une dizaine d’années en arrière. Banquier privé retiré des affaires, le photographe rend aujourd’hui hommage aux paysages suisses et à un héritage précieux qui inspire son travail artistique.

Hans-Fritz de Tscharner – le père –, qui avait régulièrement rendez-vous avec les sommets de Zermatt, ne manqua pas de partager sa passion pour l’alpinisme avec son fils, insufflant ainsi à ce dernier un intérêt particulier pour la montagne. De ce fait, les paysages alpins furent et restent naturellement au coeur de l’œuvre photographique de Richard de Tscharner. Toutefois, là n’est pas la seule intention du photographe, dont les images cherchent à exprimer tant les traces de son propre passé que les traces de l’Histoire. Richard de Tscharner explore donc volontiers des lieux se trouvant au-delà de nos frontières, au-delà de toute familiarité. En 2008, il réalisa notamment un voyage de 108 jours autour du monde, lequel changea considérablement son regard à la fois d’homme et d’artiste. Ce voyage fut le prélude de son premier ouvrage, Tout un Monde, sorti de presse en 2009 et auquel s’ajouta une exposition l’année suivante.

Richard de Tscharner préside également le Conseil de la Fondation Carène, qu’il fonda selon les deux piliers qui l’avaient guidé tout au long de son parcours : la transmission du savoir et le respect de la tradition. La Fondation apporte son soutien au niveau mondial ; elle collabora en faveur d’œuvres au Tibet, au Cambodge, au Guatemala et à Haïti et entra par ailleurs en partenariat avec la Fondation Martin Bodmer en 2013 pour la réalisation du projet Alexandrie la divine.

Au moyen d’appareils Hasselblad, mais aussi par le biais de la Fondation Carène, le photographe encourage la préservation des racines culturelles, tissant un lien entre sa génération et celles à venir.

Ses archives photographiques furent du reste attribuées à la Fondation, qui est donc bénéficiaire de toutes les retombées du travail photographique.

Richard de Tscharner prépare actuellement une exposition qui aura lieu à Versoix en automne 2015.

Henri Valloton, la passion des terroirs

Anauthentic and expressive wine on his dozen hectares of vineyards spread over Fully, Saillon, Saxon, Martigny and Bovernier, Henri Valloton adores his terroir.

Representing the third generation of winegrowers, Henri Valloton perpetuates the dream that his grandfather, Oswald, had when, in 1932, he purchased the first plots of land of the family estate in La Combe d’Enfer, Planche-Billon, and Claives. The estate today produces 24 wines, principally made from the following varieties: syrah, petite arvine, humagne rouge, merlot, païen, chasselas, gamay, durize, and pinot noir.

When he took over the family business in 2000 when his father, André, retired, Henri Valloton wished to place particular emphasis on the wealth of the terroir that he now managed. Thus he placed importance on durize, a variety related to the roussin grape of the Val d�Aoste, and known here as the “old red of Fully”. In this humanscale wine estate, productivity is not excessive, the wine-producing methods are respectful of the environment and the objective is to produce a wine of strong personality without having to wait several months before consuming it. “I can�t stand over extraction, states Henri Valloton.

I prefer wines that exist to please, where fruit dominate”. Here, everything is indeed a question of pleasure. In July 2014, Henri Valloton breathed new life into his business when he moved to new premises that include a production building, cellar and sales point.

Représentant de la troisième génération de vignerons-éleveurs, Henri Valloton ne dément pas l’ambition qu’avait eue son grand-père Oswald en achetant en 1932 les premières parcelles du domaine familial à La Combe d’Enfer, à Planche-Billon ou encore aux Claives.

L’exploitation produit aujourd’hui vingt-quatre vins principalement à partir des cépages suivants : syrah, petite arvine, humagne rouge, merlot, païen, chasselas, gamay, durize et pinot noir. Lorsqu’il a repris l’affaire familiale en 2000, au départ à la retraite de son père André, Henri Valloton a souhaité mettre avant tout l’accent sur la richesse du terroir qui lui était légué. Ainsi a-t-il remis à l’honneur la durize, cépage apparenté au roussin du Val d’Aoste et appelé ici vieux rouge de Fully. Dans ce domaine à taille humaine, pas de productivité à outrance, les méthodes viticoles sont respectueuses de l’environnement et le but affiché est de produire un vin à la personnalité forte sans devoir attendre de longs mois avant de le consommer. « J’ai horreur de la sur-extraction, souligne Henri Valloton. Je préfère les vins de plaisir, où le fruit domine. » Tout ici est en effet bien qu’une question de plaisir. En juillet 2014, Henri Valloton a donné un nouveau souffle à son entreprise en déménageant dans de nouveaux locaux qui rassemblent bâtiment d’exploitation, cave et vente.
