In a market dominated by automatic watches, CYRUS has dared to launch a timepiece with manual double barrel winding and a seven-day power reserve. The movement (290 components, 50 rubies) is a 100% in-house manufacture movement, created under the aegis of renowned, award-winning Swiss watchmaker Jean-François Mojon. This collection is the fruit of the partnership between the two founders, Julien and Laurent LECAMP. The selection of functions, the manual movement, the design features and the unusual bracelet were all created and developed within the family, with the utmost respect for the CYRUS philosophy.

WATCHMAKING At first glance it catches your eye, the power reserve (between 2 and 4 o’clock) will captivate you with its three barrels sliding progressively along a vertical axis as the seven days unfold...Each barrel has a power reserve of two days, apart from the final barrel (three days).

The seconds function is truly original and technically advanced, with its three angled hands, each of which counts 20 seconds before passing the baton to the next hand. Then there is the secret animation (between 9 and 12 o’clock), which is activated by simply pressing the crown at 9 o’clock. The text ‘limited edition’ then appears. Press it again, and the Cyrus coin (the first coin in the history of humanity, produced under the reign of CYRUS THE GREAT) appears to replace the previous inscription. Press one last time and...give flight to your imagination. The CYRUS logo appears, but if you so desire, we can personalize this animation according to your wishes. The design of the bracelet has also been carefully thought out. A perfect continuation of the curve of the timepiece, the bracelet also has at its centre an opening, at the heart of which there are three barrels in a mechanism which recalls the ‘abacus’ design of the power reserve.

One of the most noticeable areas of change is the GranTurismo Sport’s new headlight treatment. While it retains the external shape of the headlights, they now carry all-new internal technology, including the addition of Daytime Running Light LED technology. 76
The Xenon cluster within the headlight also incorporates Adaptive Light Control to track the movement of the steering wheel up to 15 degrees. Journe Tourbillon 30 th Anniversary Limited Edition of 99 pieces This Anniversary wristwatch is the re-interpretation of the first pocket watch completed by François-Paul Journe 30 years ago. It presents the same materials used in the original masterpiece: a case in guilloche silver enhanced by 2 gold bezels in rose gold 4N. The transparent sapphire back reveals the tourbillon movement of classic construction made in grained and gilded brass, identical to the original of 1983. Two parallel barrels distribute energy to a wheels train, arranged in the axis of the watch, which runs the Tourbillon revolving in 1 minute. The lateral pallet escapement, which is more compatible with a wristwatch, replaces the detent escapement of the original, and the winding and time setting with a key have now been replaced by the 3 o’clock crown. Made today in the workshops of the Manufacture, the movement features high quality components, with nowadays elaborate polishing, beveling and finishings that weren’t possible at the time. It encompasses a sobriety and a nobility of first generation tourbillon movements made by the great Masters. The movement is protected by a splendid case back cover in silver guilloche. The dial in grained silver is engraved with filled roman numerals and a steel hour circle, identical to the original tourbillon pocket watch. The hours are indicated by blued steel Abraham-Louis Breguet hands, identical to those of the original pocket watch. The limited edition of this Historical Anniversary Tourbillon will allow 99 privileged clients to be part of a chapter of the F.P. Journe’s extraordinary watch journey and thus possess a part of its history. It was presented as a Premiere on October 18 in Tokyo, also celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the first F.P. The Ancolie Précieuse ring showcases a remarkable D IF type 2A diamond weighing 9.03 carats. Truly a stone for connoisseurs, it is distinguished by its old cut, but also by its extraordinary vivacity and brilliance. In a setting of rare refinement, it seems to rest delicately on red and white petals. These are composed of a halo of pear-shaped diamonds overlooking a row of round diamonds, themselves emphasized by a border of rubies. In its appearance, the ring evokes the finely serrated corolla of a columbine in full bloom. This elegant flower with its slender stem is the latest addition to the Maison’s garden, which expands from collection to collection.
One of the collection’s standout pieces, the Pongal ring is adorned with a 27.81-carat Colombian emerald that is remarkable for its cushion-cut, its weight and its intense color, shaded with highlights of yellow and blue. The central stone and overall style of the piece evoke the Indian inspiration dear to Van Cleef & Arpels. The Maison began producing special orders for Maharajas and Maharanis in the 1920s. The relationship deepened from the 1950s onwards, when Pierre and Claude Arpels started traveling across India in search of wondrous stones and jewels. These treasures exerted a strong influence on the Maison’s creations: finely wrought gold, the association of engraved emeralds and rubies, necklaces with multiple rows of sculpted stones and Persian motifs are among the expressions of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Indian style. Today, the golden interlacings of this new piece recall the ornamental motifs of Mughal art. The woven aspect of the body of the ring evokes some precious cloth, while the emerald and ruby cabochons suggest brightly colored Indian fabrics. Red and green are among the colors worn for Pongal, the monsoon festival that now lends its name to this majestic ring.
With its bright colors reminiscent of heavenly beaches, the Sea Side ring features a dazzling association of blue lagoon turquoise and a sunshine yellow diamond weighing 5.34 carats. The gem – which crowns the piece – is highlighted by the lines of diamonds that spread out from the summit and the intricate sculpture work on the turquoise. Chosen for its intense and even color, the latter has been recut and gadrooned to blend in with the body of the ring and add an effect of volume. The ensemble, with its combination of brilliance and gentle curves, evokes the appeal of the new destinations fashionable during the 1950s and 1960s – from Miami to Acapulco, from Palm Springs to Mustique.

At Courchevel, the piste maintenance staff are true craftsmen. “They are all passionate,” says Thomas Thor-Jensen. “They pride themselves on our pistes being the most beautiful, the best groomed and the safest.” The vehicle fleet is updated on a regular basis to help them on their quest for perfection. 4 grooming machines are systematically replaced every winter. Courchevel has a total of 21 machines. This winter, the first ever hybrid grooming machine in the world will start work: the PistenBully 600 E+ by KASSBOHRER. But the resort hasn’t forgotten the machines that have made it what it is today. For example, the American tracked vehicle brought over by Emile Allais in the 60s, the famous Sno Cat, has been refurbished and is now exhibited at démonstrations and events.

ARCHITECTURE
It is in the heart of the Alps, in the town of Sion, nestled between the mountains and the vineyards, at the foot of the castles of Valère and Tourbillon that François Meyer chose to settle his architect’s studio in 2004.
Native of Canton of Valais / Switzerland, he also studied in France, Denmark and the United States. He has always been fascinated by art and architecture. Therefore, after his return to Switzerland it was a natural step for him to study architecture at the University (College) of Engineering and Architecture in Fribourg. After receiving his diploma, he worked with various studios in Switzerland and then established himself with his own studio. Fascinated by contemporary architecture he has continuously participated in competitions, which represents for him a way of developing his approach and of measuring himself against 122
the evolution of the practice. He avoids the easy solutions. For him, each project is unique whatever its nature. He first seeks to identify the challenges of a project in order then to have a clear and appropriate response. The originality and quality of his work has therefore often been recognized by numerous awards in architectural competitions. The studio undertakes a wide range of projects from private homes to large competitions. From public buildings for local authorities, such as ; schools, gymnasiums and homes for persons with mental difficulties to the renovation and conversion of a hotel, the town hall and courthouse in Sion.
MEYER ARCHITECTURE He has been equally active in private home construction and is currently completing his first project for blocks of flats, having won the first prize in that competition. He worked on the conversion in Vetroz with M. Laurent Savioz and M. Claude Fabrizzi Architects. Francois Meyer loves all aspects of his work but states “he prefers the project concept phase because that’s when everything is at stake”. His guideline leaves a great deal of room for imagination while at the same time being realistic, efficient and responsible, resulting in an architecture of quality at all levels ; aesthetic, functional, economic and ecological. His projects are based on a synthesis of the client’s wi-shesandtheexistingconstraints.Suchasrespectforthe surrounding land and constructions, the views to be prioritised and the relationship to the exterior which are all factors that feed the creative process. It is necessary to conceive the space so as not only to render it functional but also, and especially, to find the detail that gives it a particular character and special atmosphere. This may be achieved through the choice of materials, colours or an opening towards the exterior, making it possible to create an atmosphere and to elicit feelings. All in the respect of minimum means for a maximum effect. Meyer Architecture offers the full range of architectural services, from project design to execution, including invitations for tender, scheduling, work management and worksite supervision. Its works also extends to furniture production and often collaborates alongside designers and landscape architects to complete each proposal.
