from the editor: Your fall Guide

With Fall enters a season of renewed energy, crisp air and cozy nights, busy back-to-school days, and activity-filled weekends As we welcome this bustling season, I thought it would be fun to put together a brief guide (or bucket list, if you will) of different ways to escape the hustle and celebrate Fall here at Riverton:

Take advantage of our beautiful, picturesque slice of paradise and schedule a Fall family photo shoot

Fall means chiller weather and longer sleeves; avoid the crowded stores and do your onestop Fall gear shopping at our Pro-Shop!

Break out that new gear one crisp morning and try your hand at pickleball or tennis You don't have to be a pro to have some fun!

Speaking of fun, plan a family golf day on our beautifully restored Donald Ross course! There's nothing quite like golf in the Fall, especially here at Riverton, and when spent with the ones you love

Take a moment to pause and savor the distinct magic of cool Fall nights while enjoying one (or two) of our new Fall cocktails on our new patio, by the firepits, or on the great lawn

Football season is (finally!!) here, and we ' ve got one incredible tailgate idea for you: impress all your friends and family by hosting an Eagles Tailgate Party at the bowling alley!

Want to show off your club to your friends in a different way? Host a Fall-themed dinner party, Friendsgiving, or even a Happy Hour!

We have several fun Fall events planned, as you'll read about in this issue, so mark your calendars and attend as many as possible! Trust us-- we know how to do Fall, y 'all!

Wine lover? Reward yourself for navigating the hustle and bustle and become a member of our exclusive Wine Locker Program! Meet fellow members who enjoy socializing, drinking, and learning about the finest wines from around the world, and even get access to the VIP Room for our Fall Wine Show!

I could continue to list one hundred more bullet points, but I'm hoping you'll take some of these ideas and seize the season! So whichever Riverton Fall adventures you embark upon, I wish you endless fun and memories that will last a lifetime We look forward to celebrating with you and as always, thank you for making Riverton a special place to call home Happy Reading, Happy Adventuring, Happy Fall!

FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT

TOM KEARNS

Welcome to our Fall Edition of Ripples!

I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to (hopefully) cooler days and nights as we move into the Autumn season Golf is always great this time of year; good luck to all those participating in the many exciting fall events we have coming up

I’d also like to take a moment to thank everyone who voted on the latest update on our Facilities Master Plan While, of course, this was not the ideal or preferred situation, the continued strong support from you all reinforces that we are doing the right things.

As the following pages will show, we had a busy end of Spring and Summer. In particular, we are very excited about the long-awaited completion of the Ross Restoration on the golf course--thanks to all involved in this endeavor, especially our Superintendent Drew White and his team

Additionally, I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy a meal, or at least a drink or two, on our newly completed patio I believe this is a strong addition to our club and enhances the experience for you and your guests We look forward to enjoying this space, as well as our new lawn space, for many years to come

As stated in the August Town Hall, to avoid any issues with potential regulatory changes, we have officially started work on the pool area Stay up to date with all the happenings on the project by opening and reading our weekly FMP Update email sent each Friday. Due to several logistical challenges that we must address, it is important you all remain informed of where you can and cannot go during the construction process and how to access different areas

In closing, and as previously mentioned, the Board’s collective mission is to serve the entire membership We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the Facilities Master Plan and support our operations team to help you enjoy every aspect of our club

I look forward to seeing you all at the club, and, as always, please feel free to drop me a note with any ideas or comments

GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE

Our team is filled with enthusiasm as we enter into the next phase of the Facility Master Plan We are excited about the outcome of the patio, and the member response has been overwhelmingly positive As the cooler nights of Fall approach, we expect the new patio space to continue selling out and strongly recommend reservations

As you all know, due to the anticipated actions of the governor, construction at the pool began earlier than planned, forcing our team to quickly pivot to ensure the successful execution of your new and improved pool experience I'd like to thank everyone involved for their tireless work in providing members with the service they deserve under challenging conditions We cannot wait for the grand opening of the new complex, increased capacity, and the ability to provide a higher level of service to the membership We are already hard at work planning new menus, kitchen operations, and service plans for the new café and, of course, the upstairs of the new golf center

In case you have not heard, our new Executive Chef, JC Nunez, started with us on August 24th Chef JC has been busy learning about our operation and acquainting himself

with the team and membership and continues to be excited to bring new things to the table Stay tuned for new menus to come soon, as well as other new, reimagined ideas!

On a personal note, I would like to take a moment to congratulate Hannah Librizzi, our Food and Beverage Director, who recently got engaged while on vacation in Napa In typical Hannah fashion, even on vacation, she was working to acquire unique wines for wine locker members We are excited for Hannah and her fiancé Kevin and look forward to watching their journey to marriage

I am also excited about what is to come for Hannah in her career as we plan the next steps for her here at Riverton with some increased responsibility

On another note, Communications and Marketing Director Casey Waldron and Membership Director Donna Surrette recently returned from a Communication Summit in New York Casey and Donna came back with some amazing ideas and best practices, and we cannot wait to implement some new and exciting things in internal and external communications and member programming Continuing education is vital for the entire staff here at the Club, and we are thankful to be able to support the team with this

As always, we look forward to serving you soon!

THE BOYS OF SUMMER

"The season between Spring and Fall"

"June through August"

"The sunny season "

Or as golf course superintendents refer to it, "The Dog Days" and "100 days of H-E-Double Hockey Sticks "

Summer has many names As a kid, summer meant no school, campouts, staying up late, and sleeping in Now, my summers are full of long days, green grass, golf, hard work, and a group of people I would not trade for anything

That group of people is known as the Riverton Country Club Agronomy Team You've heard me mention the Agronomy Team countless times, and perhaps you even know a few A large part of our team is comprised of students--team members that work during the busiest and hottest months of the year, that show up in May and June, then say goodbye in August and September For some, this job is a way to make extra cash for things college students buy, for others, it is a way to help pay tuition Whatever their motivation is, they are a hard-working and dedicated group of young men

Team members Colin (Stockton University), Gio (Rutgers), and Anthony (Appalachian State) are entering their upperclassmen years in college and have been with us since high school graduation This year ’ s new team members, Samir (RCBC), Monte (Rutgers Camden), Chad (William Paterson), and Ahmad (Rowan), are in different stages of their education Gianluca (RCBC) and Nate (Rowan) have been with us since their junior year of high school and are now starting their freshman year of college Last but certainly not least, Marc and Kai, who both aspire to be agronomists, plan to attend the turfgrass management program at Rutgers

The rest of the Agronomy Team is made-up of our full-time team members, who are with us from March through November They are skilled team members and are often called on to train and mentor our college kids Their service to Riverton ranges from one to five years, excluding Shane, who has been with us for ten years

These two groups of hard-working men spent the summer mowing the greens and tees daily (a distance equivalent to 4 miles), raking bunkers, string trimming hard-to-reach grasses, dragging hoses to all the new sod, completing the Ross Restoration, and so much more It never ceases to amaze me that a group of people from such different walks of life and heading on different paths can come together with the common goal of producing an aesthetically pleasing golf course with topnotch playing conditions

THE cure spg47 GOLF FOR A CURE TOURNAMENT

IIn 2015, my wife and I received a call that immediately changed our life ”Mr & Mrs Duffy, we ' re sorry to inform you, but your daughter Molly has been diagnosed with an ultra-rare, neuro-degenerative disease called hereditary spastic paraplegia type 47 (SPG47) She is the first in the U S and one of only seven known cases in the world ” In that moment, our world froze We had no idea of knowing what our beautiful daughter’s future would look like and our minds went straight to the darkest places We immediately jumped deep into physical therapy, doctors’ visits, and research to learn everything we could about this disease and help Molly fight this battle

Almost one year later, we connected with another family from Boston via Facebook who had a similar conversation with their doctors, as their daughter was just diagnosed with SPG47, as well After spending countless hours on the phone with them sharing experiences, we decided that with a patient population of two in the U S , research may never get started if we don’t start to push for it, and together we founded Cure SPG47

As soon as members of Riverton found out about Molly’s diagnosis, they immediately stepped up and started a golf outing to help us raise money for our mission and to fund our two research programs

In 2021, we welcomed a new addition to our family and Owen Patrick was born in February While we knew we had a 25% chance of our children having this disease, all signs throughout the pregnancy were that Owen was a healthy baby boy Shortly after birth, we decided to have him tested for the disease, but at that point, had no doubt in our mind that he was not affected by the disease After a few weeks of waiting for the results, we relived our worst nightmare, our beautiful son Owen was also affected by SPG47 This diagnosis gave our fight for a cure a whole new meaning, we now have two kids that would benefit from our research!

As we enter approach our 6th Annual Golf for a Cure on September 20th, so many of you have become a part of this fight for our children and the community of Riverton Country Club has never rallied harder for my family In just five short years, we have raised more than $1 1 million and are hoping to continue building on our success!

On behalf of my wife and I, thank you so much for having such an amazing impact on our children’s life and giving us hope that one day, our kids will get to live the life they deserve!
