2020 MASTER PLAN INTRODUCTION We are pleased and excited to present to you an updated golf course Master Plan. This plan provides a total view of our golf course and seeks to improve the quality and variety of golf course facilities available for the enjoyment of our members.
The Plan includes not only designs for the 7 remaining holes that still need to be completed under the Donald Ross Restoration, but also provides a plan for a new Short Game Practice Facility, the creation of two new Practice Putting Greens, and the addition of a new Par 3 Short Course on Thomas Avenue. Additionally, the plan makes recommendations for refreshing and improving member experience at our existing Practice Range.
This plan has been vetted by our members who serve on the Greens and Golf Committees,

We are so fortunate as a club to be the caretakers and stewards of such a special golf course.
Donald Ross is the most renowned golf course architect
in U.S. history. Our goal is to honor, respect, and adhere to his original design as much as possible, with only minor differences to accommodate today’s game.
As Ross himself put it, “The ideal course is one that presents a test of
golf for the everyday golfer and the first-class player.”
Each hole, as well as
the course as a whole, should address this challenge with a keen awareness of today’s golf standards.
At the end of the day, we believe that Ross would be
pleased to know that the work he did here over 100 years ago is still so valued today.

MASTER
PLAN
Pictured to the left, is a short game facility that will be constructed using the waste area adjacent to holes 2, 15, and 16. This facility will feature two bunkers inspired by, and constructed in, Donald Ross’s style, mirroring the bunkering found throughout Riverton Country Club. Golfers will be able to practice shots as long as 65 yards and bunker shots ranging from 25 yards to 35 yards. The green will boast three to four hole locations, large landing areas, and undulations that will be classic Donald Ross.
