Frank the Toad by Tomer One hot summer day, Frank was home, bored.

Frank was a clumsy, hairy, and sometimes odd toad that liked to fish. He lived with his family in a small one bedroom house on the coast of California. Frank was reading a book about whales, which he had read multiple times before. That day, Frank wanted to got to the beach with his friend Harry, a hawk. His mother, however, didn’t let him. “Please, I’ll go fishing and we’ll have fish for dinner!” whined Frank. “N-O no,” yelled his mother. Frank started sobbing. He really

wanted to go to the beach with Harry. “Fine!” snapped his mother. “Thank you,” hollered Frank as he sprinted to Harry’s house. Frank rang the doorbell, Harry opened the door. Frank invited Harry to the beach. Harry answered “Sure, I’d love to go! Do you want to ride on my back?” asked Harry. “Awesome” said Frank. So Frank got on Harry’s back, and they flew to the beach. Suddenly, Frank slipped off of Harry’s back, he was holding on to Harry’s talon for dear life, he squirmed he just couldn’t hold on. “I’ll try to pull you up,” said Harry. Frank fell. He fell into darkness. Frank woke up. He was confused, he didn’t know where he was. Until he saw what he was standing on, a tongue! He saw teeth right in front of him, and saw a deep darkness behind him. From his study of whales, he knew this was a whale! He knew he would need to get out of the whale before it swallows him. BOOM!!! Frank rammed into the whales teeth and fell hard on the whale’s tongue. He was in agony. He thought he sprained his ankle. He hobbled over to the whale’s teeth and sat down to rest.

He heard a squealing sound that sounded like a bird dying. He reluctantly hobbled over to where the sound was coming from. He saw the skeleton of a toad. Frank screamed, “AAAAAHHHH!” “I’ve been expecting you,” said a voice. Frank turned around. He saw a toad. The toad had wrinkles all over his face. He was wearing a nametag that said ‘ Bartholomew, the wealthiest psychologist in the world, 1997’ “Why are you in here?Did you retire” asked Frank. “It gives me peace and quiet and yes I did retire,” “How long have you been here?” asked Frank. “15 years. I can’t remember the last time I was outside of this whale,” answered Bartholomew. “I really need a way out Bartholomew. Please tell me a way,” Frank’s palms got sweaty he was looking left and right. “I know you are smarter than other toads that got stuck in this whale,” said Bartholomew “So, I will tell you a terse riddle,”

“Please tell me how to get out. My mom will kill me if I don’t get home in time!” “Here is the riddle: out of a hole you go the opposite of a waterfall” “So you’re saying to make a hole in the whale? "I don't know, you tell me,” “I’ll never get out out of here,” said Frank as he hobbled over to the whales teeth. Frank started sobbing. “I think I get it now! Water from a waterfall goes down, so I need to go out of a hole with water going up,” I need to go to the spout!,” Frank went to the spout but his leg hurt so much he couldn’t jump up and go out of the spout. Then Frank saw Bartholomew and asked him to give him a lift. Bartholomew gave Frank a lift and said “Good Luck!”

“Thanks,” said Frank “Why don't you come with me?” “My destiny is to stay here, and help you later in life. Now your destiny is to get out, ” said Bartholomew. Water shot out and Frank escalated up into the air and flew to his front door. He landed on his

back. His mom saw him. “Hi Frank! How was your day?” asked Frank’s mom. “It went well,” said Frank. “Anything interesting or disastrous happen?” “Nope, nothing at all,” answered Frank.
