JOSHUA AND THE PENGUIN Joshua Ortiz
The great scientist Joshua Ricric lives in Antarctica with many of his fellow scientists. He lives in a dark, cold cave covered in fur rugs. One day, while exploring the Arctic Tundra, looking for an Arctic Fox, he was stop to see an egg but artic wolves were surrounding him and then a duc bear that followed him was here ‘ I am in trouble he thought, but joshua said the egg so he jump and stumbled over something in the snow. Once he got up, he realized it was a rare penguin egg. “This egg shouldn’t be all alone in the cold,” Joshua thought to
himself. So he took it back to the cave where he was staying. When he got home, his fellow scientists were not there. Joshua thought, “They must still be out exploring and will be home later. I can show them later.” Joshua wanted to know more about the egg. He started to look through all the important science books they had (they had millions because they are scientists). Thousands of pages later, he discovered it was an emperor penguin egg. Joshua was extremely excited! He couldn’t wait for his friends to get home any longer, so he set off to find them to share with them the good news. BOOM!!!!!!!!! “What was that?” Joshua nervously thought. Roar!!!!!! “Uhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhhhh, run!” screamed Joshua. “Oh no! The egg!” exclaimed Joshua, “They must be after it! Is that Big Foot? No its a Yeti! Wait a second, it is a walrus! Or maybe... it’s a Carabiou!” Suddenly, Joshua felt the ground rumble. “No it is a big group of these animals I have never seen before! I need to run to the boat, the S.S.J. Now we are taking a voyage to the north cave!”
Joshua frantically screamed. He grabbed the egg and ran! Once he got to the ship, Joshua found all of his fellow scientists. “Its time to set sail!” Joshua proclaimed. “Wait, where are we sailing?” questioned Bill, the super annoying deckhand. “Are we going to the cave in the north?” “Yes, duh!” Joshua replied. “Oh you think so? We are stuck in the middle of a glacier! How are we going to get out of here? You are such a loser, that is a dumb idea.” Bill sarcastically replied. “Do you even know how to navigate? “Of course I do.” Suddenly, there was a loud BANG from the back of the ship. The crew ran toward the sound to see what happened. “Fight! Fight! Fight!” chanted the crew. “What are you guys doing?” Joshua yelled once he caught up to the crew. He looked down and saw Duc and Aden fighting, rolling around the back of the ship. “He stole my compass!” Aden yelled. “You are fighting over a compass?” Joshua replied, amazed. “Oh my God! You are both captains! Get it together!”
Bill screamed, “You guys are fighting like heavy weight champions!” Josh heard members of the crew starting to make bets as to who will win. Josh thinks to himself, “If one wins, the other will leave, I need to stop the fight so I don’t lose one of my best captains!” Josh shouted, “This is the biggest ship in the world! If you two keep fighting you will ruin something and it will be the smallest. I am confused as to why you are both captains and only one of you has a compass. So now what? How are you going to solve this? You can’t keep fighting.” “Brog kick! Smash him! Keep fighting!” shouted Bill, trying to keep the fight going. Aden and Duc came to their senses and realized that this was a ridiculous fight. Josh called them to the upper deck. “Really guys, all of this nonsense over a compass?” Josh scolded. “Yes, we’re sorry.” Duc and Aden replied at the same time. “But you guys did have a great fight. You must watch too much WWE. Come here I want to show you something that I found!” Josh says. He lead them towards the doctor’s office. “How’s the egg doc?” Joshua questioned. “Well, it is still a little cold, we are warming it up now. It is still in good
shape though, it will be alright in a few hours.” The doctor says reassuringly. Josh says, “Thats great to hear Doc. Alright Aden and Duc, you look hungry from your fight, let’s go get something to eat!” The crew merrily went to eat some lunch and they took a long nap after. THUMP! Joshua was startled out of his sleep. “What was that?” He wondered. “Weird things have been going on today.” All of a sudden the doctor ran up to him, “Someone has stolen the egg! It’s gone!” the doctor screamed. “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” wailed Joshua. “We have to find who did this! They must still be on board because we are in the middle of the ocean!” “Yes, yes, yes!” Aden screamed at Duc. “We can totally get away with this!” “No, no, no!” Duc replied. “We won’t. Joshua loves that egg. He will find us!” “Since when are you such a baby?” Aden snarkily replied, laughing at Duc. Joshua heard commotion on the upper deck. He thought he heard Aden and Duc, his loyal captains. He must go tell them that someone has stolen the egg and he needs their help to find it.
“What!” Joshua screams as he walks up the stairs. “You two are trying to steal my precious egg? Why?” “This egg is so rare!” Aden replied. “It is worth millions on the black market! Way more than you will ever pay us to be on your crew!” “I told you we would get caught!” Duc screamed! “We are not caught yet!” Aden shouted back as he jumps over the railing onto a lifeboat and started lowering it to the ocean. Duc stared back at Joshua. “Hasta la vista! Baby!” Duc said as he followed Aden over the railing. “I have kids to feed and you pay me peanuts!” Joshua ran to the railing to stop them, but it was too late, they had already hit the water and were speeding away. Joshua jumped into the other lifeboat. Suddenly, the lifeboat rocks. “I’m here to help!” said Bill and he puts on his life vest. “Ugh, it’s annoying Bill!” Joshua thought to himself. “But I guess some help is better than no help at all!” Josh and annoying Bill got in the lifeboat. They started to paddle quickly and ferociously. They paddled faster than any human being has ever paddled before! Within minutes, they were a tail behind the other lifeboat
that Duc and Aden were in with the egg, dun dun duuuuuuuuuun.... Joshua was close enough to jump onto the other lifeboat. He closed his eyes, screamed loudly, and took the leap. He snuck up (tip toe tip toe) behind Aden and hit him from behind with his life vest, right on the head! Aden fell onto Duc. Duc yelped “Ooooh!” and fell off the lifeboat and into the water. Then, Aden stood up and lifted Duc out of the water. Just when Duc was back in the boat, Josh hit both Aden and Duc with a life vest, knocking them onto the seat where they were paddling from. Josh grabbed the egg, which was in a brownish, black bag and yelled, “Yippee!” He jumped back onto the other boat happily and he paddled as fast as he could. Finally, Joshua and Bill reached their ship again, the S.S.J. The crew was relieved that they got back, but quickly they started to wonder, “Where are Duc and Aden?” Joshua replied angrily, “They are stuck... in the middle of the ocean! That’s what happens when you betray me!” With an wicked, “HA HA HA,” he drove the boat away. Now it’s almost night time, almost dark. What happens at dark? It is cold as the skies turn black the sun turns off and the moon replaces it. That is also when some animals hunt and it is dangerous. The winds are colder
than any wind you could possibly be in. They paddle through it, until they can proclaim, “We’re finally here! To the Central Cave!” The blizzards get so severe that some organisms die. Once I was hiking and I found a pond and it was frozen and all living things in it were frozen. It scared me! Right, anyway here we have the best heating system in the world. It keeps us warm in the cold weather. Welcome to central Cave, biggest cave I owned in Antarctica. It is right in the middle the artic very dangerous. because it is filled with the most dangerous animals. “Hey Josh! Get over here! I have a surprise, but it will be a challenge! The egg finally hatched!” Joshua jumped up in the air and yelled, “YES YES YES!!!!!!!!! Let me see him!” “Here you go!” “Awwwwwww! So cute.” Well, I guess that is...
