NEW RELEASES Street Date: 06.16.17 | Order Date: 05.26.17
After a 21 year recording hiatus, RIDE have returned with Weather Diaries, out June 16th via Wichita Recordings. The album finds its four original members Andy Bell, Mark Gardener, Loz Colbert and Steve Queralt reunited, and right back where they left off. From the huge sonic storm at the end of the title track, to the addictive verses of “Cali”, the material on this album is as unmistakably RIDE as ever, yet written from the vantage point of men who have experienced life’s trials and tribulations. There’s an anger at the state of modern world throughout the album, particularly apparent in the initial single “Charm Assault”, the sprawling album opener “Lannoy Point” and “All I Want”, the latter exploring the ideas of the band’s home country, Britain. See below for the 2017 tour dates. TOUR DATES : July 16 Chicago, IL Pitchfork Festival July 17 Toronto, ON Massey Hall July 19 Boston, MA Royale July 20 New York, NY Terminal 5 July 22 Philadelphia, PA Theatre of Living Arts July 23 Washington DC Sixth & I Historic Synagogue September 20 Denver, CO Summit Music Hall September 21 Salt Lake City, UT Metro Music Hall September 23 Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom September 24 Seattle, WA Neptune Theatre September 26 San Francisco, CA The Fillmore September 29 Los Angeles, CA Masonic Lodge October 2 Cuauhtemoc, Mexico Plaza Condesa “Many bands from Ride’s heyday have reunited in recent years, but few have done so with such a renewed edge of energy, self-awareness, and mettle.” -PITCHFORK “these seminal shoegazers have rode back to us with a mesmerizing new single.”
-NPR

DUSTBOWL REVIVAL
The big, festive shapeshifting L.A. roots collective Dustbowl Revival comes out swinging on track one, “Call My Name”, of this self-titled Americana soul release from Signature Sounds. A high-attitude drum solo, a guy in the back howls, “Ohhh yeah!”, and we’re not in the Dustbowl anymore. We’re gone, baby, gone, in a hot maelstrom of rhythmsection swagger, wheeling brass, sassy vox, and emotionally honest and raw love stories. Can’t not dance. The album delivers eleven hot tracks, dominated by love-triangle funk & soul, tenderized with a nod to the unlikely possibility of true love – i.e. “Honey I Love You”, with Grammy Award-winning blues artist Keb’ Mo’ sitting in. Dustbowl Revival was named for the influential Guthrie collection Dust Bowl Ballads; and the eight-piece built its early sound on strings-driven American rural roots music. Dustbowl’s repertoire evolved into a genrehopping festivity, equal parts back porch, juke joint, swing club, and blues roots. Now, with Producer Grammy Award-winning Ted Hutt (Old Crow Medicine Show, Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys), Dustbowl Revival brings it on, in the good company of neo-Soul contemporaries such as Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and St. Paul & The Broken Bones.

Minute Bodies: The intimate world of F. Percy Smith Directed by Stuart A. Staples Photography and animated sequences by F. Percy Smith Editing by David Reeve and Stuart A. Staples Original editing by Mary Field Produced by Stuart A. Staples and David Reeve for Lucky Dog inc. and Studio Moe Musical score by tindersticks with Thomas Belhom and Christine Ott Minute Bodies: The Intimate World of F. Percy Smith, directed by Stuart Staples of tindersticks, was first screened at the 60th BFI London Film Festival in October 2016. It is a meditative and immersive film tribute to the astonishing work and achievements of the early twentieth century naturalist, inventor and pioneering filmmaker F. Percy Smith. 'Minute bodies' is an interpretative edit that combines Smith's original footage with a new contemporary score by tindersticks, with Thomas Belhom and Christine Ott, to create a hypnotic, alien yet familiar dreamscape that connects us to the sense of wonder Smith must have felt as he peered through his own lenses to see these micro-worlds for the first time. The forming of the edit and its musical score evolved over a three-year period. The music was created from a loose collective of invited musicians. With tindersticks at its heart it also greatly benefits from the involvement of Belhom (percussion) and Ott (Ondes Martenot and piano). There are also cameos from David Coulter (Musical saw and Nose flute) and Julian Siegel (Saxophone). It was recorded and mixed at the bands studio in France. “My main aim for Minute Bodies – The intimate world of F. Percy Smith is that it invites Smiths work to breath and exist in the present. Smith was a major, unique figure. His work transcends the constraints of its time, and now it teaches us about patience, commitment, ingenuity and determination.” Stuart A. Staples, director. “The world now sacrifices everything to speed; quiet seems to be regarded as a detestable condition to be ex¬purgated by any means which applied science can devise; and this state of affairs does not encourage the production of the type of individual who can satisfy himself in an investigation of the hidden beauties of Nature.” F. Percy Smith “With its insistent sexual rhythm, Minute Bodies is about the urgency of life on a cellular scale… a richly steamy experience.” - Sight and Sound “A cinematic wonderland…” - Evening Standard “A beautiful hypnotic melange…” - The Guardian Watch the Trailer here: https://youtu.be/BD3rTYQKKKs Announcements 3/15 - Album announcement with music video + physical pre-order. • Movie Screenings + Q&A in London + Berlin around release in June MINUTE BODIES CINE-CONCERTS: Through the spring and summer in Europe the band will be performing a small number of special Cine-Concerts playing the score live with the film, followed by a second set of tindersticks songs and music.

INFORMATION:
Ekoplekz returns with his fourth album for Planet Mu, in the shape of 10-tracker “Bioprodukt". The unique lo-fi, woozy sound of Bristol's Nick Edwards stays intact while he veers towards the nineties for inspiration: the bleep and bass sound of the north of England is one touchpoint and the acid gurgles of the 303 are another.
TRACKLIST:
A: ELEVATION CONSEQUENCES B: EXPEDITION ACRID ACID SLIPSTREAM C: CALYPZOID TRANSIENCE DESCENT D: LOW X-OVER DENIER DAZE
While the murky lo-fi production levels and evocative melodies remain, they are now bolstered by a more muscular rhythmic chassis. Snappier kicks and snares mingle with dense layers of percussion and deep undulating sub-basslines adding a funkier edge, as typified by opening track "Elevation" where playful beats interlock with breezy keyboard flourishes to create something uncharacteristically upbeat. Similarly, the gentle, fluid motion of "Slipstream" and "Calypzoid" represent some of the most appealingly chilled grooves in the Ekoplekz canon to date. But the darker-edged material remains. "Expedition" has a pensive, percussion-heavy feel whilst "Acrid Acid" is a dirt-encrusted slow-mo braindance meltdown. "Transcience" displays the Ekoplekz trademark dub-fx in full flight over a driving lo-end, before "Descent" leads down to the final section, where the beats fade out, replaced by rippling layers of spectral ferric ambience on the epic "Low-X Over", before finishing with the radiant looped stasis of "Denier Daze".

LARKIN GRIMM CHASING AN ILLUSION Label: Northern Spy Records Release Date: 06/16/2017 | Cat#: NS 088 | Format: LP Packaging: LP Jacket | SLP: $18.99 | Barcode: 754697443588
As on Larkin Grimm’s previous records, Chasing an Illusion pivots around the Harlem singer’s commanding voice, a bloody howl that is fierce enough to gobble people whole and spit out their souls But the music here is freer than in her past work. Often, the playing veers into territory suggesting adventurous corners of jazz. Combined with Grimm’s vocal heft and hippie underpinnings, the subsequent work frequently brings to mind Astral Weeks (an album that Grimm, naturally, has never heard). Meanwhile, her songwriting remains potent and considered. Lyrics are more direct than on past records, particularly those addressing motherhood—the album’s recurring, if not quite dominant, theme. These songs dig deep, exploring an emotional openness that can feel unusually raw, vulnerable, and, at times, ferocious.

TRACK LIST: JUNKIE NURSE SEWERS of MARS RED TIGER SOMETIMES MERCURY ESSO DAME DEAFER THAN BLIND WATERPARK PLATINUM TIPS THE BANANA QUESTION BLUE IS THE FREQUENCY ICE CREAM
Platinum Tips + Ice Cream (scenes from the water park) is new from ROYAL TRUX. The songs were written over a span of time as wide as eagle’s wings — but the recordings are new, live, unrehearsed and were presented in real time to a few thousand people in California and NYC. Performance art? Yes! But only because, unlike so many other aural “content providers,” NEIL HAGERTY and JENNNIFER HERREMA are true artists writing their own futures into the present. This was, and will always be, ROYAL TRUX. This new/“live”/old song/new performance album is yet another chapter in one of the best books out there. Release #647, corresponding to the Cali penal code stating that Prostitution is against the law. Just a reminder so that they didn’t forget. It’s been a minute since ROYAL TRUX went about making a record in 1–2 days, but they got that system on lock, and once again we see them setting parameters and adhering to them for maxx impact. Platinum Tips + Ice Cream was made in two days . . . one in Cali and one in NYC. The hold up came when listening back to the “live” qualities, which had been compromised by the “AI” of modern, presump-
tuous (read: “spellcheck”) sound gear. Going back to undo the “smart changes” was tedious, yet imperative — bringing the actual experience and qualities of the performance, the rawness that could be felt and heard LIVE, to a finished form. These recordings conjure the early feral spirit of the band devouring the sophisticated sound of the later years and coughing up a motherfucking hairball of sound. ROYAL TRUX has always played with the idea of “expectation” like it was a new toy at Christmas, and year in and year out
wiped it out like the face of an old teddy bear. For them, a touchdown was best achieved in reverse, via counter-intelligent means. It is fucking INSANE to hear how much that is still the case. This isn’t a butterfly mounted in amber; this is the sound of life . . . people getting through their set by any means necessary. Thoughts are flying in a million different directions, but staying with the plan is the number one rule. As the rhythm punches, the scabrous tone of JENNIFER’s vox is matched only by NEIL’s harsh, stinging guitar volleys — and the mad filters passing through the Bass Station. A personal playlist of hits rolls out — and not all rockers, but some slower jams and moments of deep heavy. But no “Back to School”?!? Well, that’s why there are more TRUX shows coming up. And like they say, every night is gonna be a great night. Wrapped up in a TRUXian collage scrapping together the crazy quilt of time in their ROYAL-iverse, which in the light of this reunion is now folding back over itself, Platinum Tips + Ice Cream collects twelve ROYAL TRUX non-sequiturs in tribute not only to the past but the unending nature of the future.

Like Basinski’s tape loops morphing over time, appropriation loops are recurrent, fluctuant feedback loops in popular and unpopular culture. Rae Sremmund talks about how they’re the new black rock stars with guitars in 2016’s “Black Beatles”, but The Beatles appropriated black American rhythm and blues music from the American South to begin with. Kraftwerk’s mechanic interpretation of Motown hits of 60s and 70s Detroit was later echoed by Detroit techno producers who subsequently put the funk back in it and made it more minimal. Detroit techno, for one, could never have been without the device of appropriation…but the device is often misused. People want to know where their chicken comes from (free range ,grass fed, no antibiotics ) but they don’t want to know where their music comes from. Where does it come from ? Trace the appropriation loops to find out… Boxlot : 10 LPs Selling points: Unclassifiable Double LP L.I.E.S. Are Euphoria continues to dive deeper into the dreamlike technicolor tapestries their songs have always explored, blossoming forward with each cycle of loops. Completely characteristic of their style, Wong and Minekawa achieve a density of textures, timbres, beats, and harmonies while remaining totally weightless, suspended in the air. Based in Tokyo Japan, Wong and Minekawa are part of a growing DIY community, frequently performing in smaller spaces such as Nanahari, Fuchi-kuchi, and Ochiai Soup. Their artistic focus is to create the unexpected. It is a scene that encourages this adventurousness. Wong and Minekawa use their considerable technical skill to create the psychedelic, surreal, and conceptual, and with dexterity and inventiveness. While Minekawa still contributes to J-Pop releases and Wong is still connected to his Baltimore roots, their joyous collaboration is as delightful and challenging as it is innovative. Are Euphoria is deeply influenced by a branch of “fusion” that is more about creating a world rather than focusing on performance or technical dexterity. Musicians like Yasuaki Shimizu, Motohiko Hamase, Mono Fontana, Joe Zawinul, Steve Shehan, and many others that were able to create musical environments helped to inspire the worlds created on Are Euphoria. Takako Minekawa and Dustin Wong, sought out Co La (Matthew Papich) to co-produce the album, due to his unique ability to place sounds and build compositions, which is leading a new type of expression in music. His surreal and conceptual approach made for a perfect combination with worlds created by the songs on Are Euphoria.

The second album from GospelbeacH continues to deftly honor the grand tradition of West Coast rock and roll. This time around it’s more 70’s FM rock than 60’s AM gold, more cosmo than country with a theme of timeless love. Straightforward, inviting songwriting and singing by Brent Rademaker (a founding member of Beachwood Sparks). Warm classic production and tight harmonies once again by guitarist/vocalist Jason Soda. Recorded in Los Angeles at Palomino Sound, Jason’s new 1970’s vintage artisan recording studio. Third GospelbeacH coremember Jonny Niemanns cascading piano, organ and mellotron fill out the albums rich sound. In the tradition of the Troubadour scene of the 1970’s Another Summer of Love features some of the GospelbeacH friends and Los Angeles’s finest players and singers including, Pearl Charles, Miranda Lee Richards, members of Wilco, Mapache, Eels, and pickers from the Grand Ole Echo. “This album was recorded on a warm and very rainy night at the Chicago Theater in my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. I had been to the Chicago Theater as a kid to see Donny Osmond in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. I remember a joke in that production where a set of pyramids moves past Joseph as he travels to Egypt. Because they were performing it in Chicago they also threw in a miniature Sears Tower. When we, the audience, saw it was the Sears Tower we laughed so hard because that building is in Chicago. Stuff like that is a lot of fun. On the night this album was recorded I arrived at the Chicago Theater having not had dinner because I was too nervous to eat. I think I ended up eating a bunch of crackers. The Chicago Theater is a gorgeous beast with a built-in Mighty Wurlitzer organ. We filmed this whole show for Netflix and Rhys Thomas directed it beautifully. This performance is called The Comeback Kid. The title is a reference to Bill Clinton but it’s also not. “Lake Street Dive” performed. Joe Mande and Vanessa Bayer performed. I performed last and I wore the suit I got married in. My parents and sisters and brother were in the audience. My wife Anna was in the audience. Petunia our dog was at the hotel in a stand-off with the room service cart. She has a problem with room service carts. She . . . I don’t know. . . she hates how the wheels lock or something. She is not too fond of skateboards either. A few last things: Jon Brion is a good man and it’s the pleasure of my life to have his music included in The Comeback Kid. Michael Berkowitz makes things happen. I am grateful to everyone who enjoyed the show but truthfully I do it to make my wife laugh. I want to thank MSG and the Chicago Theater. I want to thank the Daves. I want to thank anyone who helped put this show together or who helped put me together. While I was performing all these jokes on that night, I was genuinely happy.” — John Mulaney John Mulaney has performed standup comedy on stages around the world, written for such shows as Saturday Night Live and Documentary, Now!, and starred in his very own cancelled sitcom. The Comeback Kid is his third comedy album, drawing from the Netflix special of the same name. John’s also had a Comedy Central special, just finished an acclaimed run on Broadway of his show with Nick Kroll, Oh, Hello on Broadway and he and Nick also just co-hosted the 32nd Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards in January 2017! One time he won an Emmy! If all that isn’t enough, his dog is a viral sensation on Instagram.

SOUL JAZZ RECORDS PRESENTS
BOOMBOX 2 EARLY I ND EPEN DE NT HIP HOP , ELE CT RO AND DIS CO RAP 1 97 9-83
16th June 2017
Soul Jazz Records’ new Boombox 2 is a new selection of early rap music from the period 1979-83, with barely a household name in sight. Featured here are some the earliest hiphop records that came out of New York City following the enormous commercial success of the first ever rap record, ‘Rapper’s Delight’ by the Sugarhill Gang, in September 1979. Artists and producers alike tried to jump aboard the new commercial possibilities of hiphop. By the end of the year there were 30 hip-hop singles, all released by independent New York labels. The following year there were over 100 more, and so on. Boombox 2 tells the story of how hip-hop went from its evolutionary roots in the Bronx through DJs Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash and Afrika Bambaataa through to its second phase where veteran music producers – Paul Winley, Peter Brown, Joe Robinson and others – all based in Harlem, began to put rap on vinyl for the first time. Harlem is also where the separate worlds of disco and hip-hop met through the styles and influence of earlier ‘uptown’ DJs - DJ Hollywood and Eddie Cheba. In similar fashion these veteran Harlem-based producers instinctively tapped into a long lineage of AfricanAmerican rhythm and blues, soul and disco. GENRE : FOLK FILE UNDER: “J” Jones, Glenn RELEASE DATE : June 16, 2017 NO EXPORT (JAPAN, S. AMERICA EXPORT OK) TRACK LISTING:
Glenn Jones’ second album Against Which the Sea Continually Beats was originally released in 2007 on CD-only by Strange Attractors Audio House. We are proud to give this timeless classic a first time vinyl issue. Glenn Jones is a master of American Primitive Guitar, a style invented in the late 1950s by John Fahey, whose traditional fingerpicking techniques and wide-ranging influences were used to create modern original compositions. Jones, who led the post-rock ensemble Cul de Sac, brings his own made-up tunings, the use of custom-crafted partial capos, and a highly skilled picking style on both banjo and guitar, to create personal compositions that are lyrical, emotive and elegant. What sets him apart from the myriad guitarists playing today is his ability to tell stories with the guitar and banjo, and to convey a range of emotions. This process starts with the compositions themselves and carries through to his selection of recording environment and engineer. Against Which the Sea Continually Beats was recorded over four days during late September 2006 in beautiful West Tinsbury, Martha’s Vineyard, MA. The peaceful, seafaring setting of the island community inspired the recording sessions, lending an air of tranquility that served to coax from Glenn Jones impeccable performances, most of which were captured in just one take. Bookended by the brief slide blues laments “Island 1” and “Island 2”, the album’s eleven tunes travel from Delta to Appalachia, from classical to a cinematic sort of folk sound in a language that is purely imbued in the artists’ own dialect. Graceful and subtle, resonating with confidence and at times sheer power, Against Which the Sea Continually Beats is a masterpiece of guitar soli by a truly singular talent.

180gm vinyl. During a riotous UK tour early last year, Grand Rapids four-piece Heaters spent a day off in a South London studio to lay down a live album – the result is the bands incredible and totally debauched addition the ‘Fuzz Club Session’ series. The LP serves up a total of 5 tracks and each partnered with the raw, analogue recording - is a no-holds-barred slab of hedonistic, tripped-out psych that charges through with a frantic garage-rock gusto and a surfy, reverb-coated swoon. 1) Levitate Thigh 2) Master Splinter 3) Dune Ripper 4) Cap Gun 5) Hawaiian Holiday

K AY T H E A Q U A N A U T 7 VESSELS FFINC066: KAY THE AQUANAUT - 7 VESSELS : 6/16/17 When Kay the Aquanaut says, “the American dream is a nightmare… and the nightmare is everywhere,” on the track American Expre$$ from his latest collaboration, 7 Vessels, with producer Factor Chandelier, it resonates in a way that is particularly salient in these uneasy times. But despite this nightmare, 7 Vessels provides a life raft in the midst of a sea of disingenuousness. 7 Vessels is Kay and Factor Chandelier’s sixth album together and the culmination of their long-running collaborative relationship. The result is a work that incorporates Factor Chandelier’s signature meticulous hip hop production work seamlessly with Kay’s thought-provoking lyrics. Chandelier, known for sample-free beats and live instrumentation, creates a soundscape that is so sophisticated that it reveals something new on each listen. On his tenth release, Kay has solidified his reputation as a captivating songwriter and fresh voice. The sharp social commentary combined with the intricate and multi-layered production gives 7 Vessels a power and authenticity that is rare. And despite the political slant of the album, 7 Vessels is still a smooth, sailboat deck at sunset journey through waves of moods. With appearances by Ceschi and Paranoid Castle, the album creates a sense of community weaving together different voices.

GENRE : FOLK / OLD-TIME FILE UNDER : “H” House and Land “B” Black Twig Pickers RELEASE DATE : June 16, 2017 NO EXPORT (JAPAN, S. AMERICA EXPORT OK) House and Land is the duo of Sally Anne Morgan (fiddle, shruti box, banjo, vocals) and Sarah Louise Henson (vocals, 12-string guitar, shruti box, bouzouki). Sally and Sarah started playing together after Sarah opened for The Black Twig Pickers for whom Sally plays the fiddle. While the duo initially formed through a mutual appreciation of shared traditions and hand-hewn practices, they both also viewed their pairing through the lens of their shared love of modern, experimental and minimal music. “We honor what two voices and bodies can do in one moment in time. It totally shapes our sound.” On House and Land, the duo showcase a variety of Appalachian music styles, incorporating elements of drone, microtonality and minimalism, each often drawing connections to nature, and linked to music across a spectrum that evokes trance and other spiritual states, which can also be seen in artists like Agnes Martin and composers such as Éliane Radigue and John Luther Adams. The material on their debut is drawn from traditional southern hymns and Appalachian ballads that originated in England and elsewhere hundreds of years ago. Microtonality is as essential to certain Appalachian vocal styles as it is to a Tony Conrad composition and the often spare adornment to their singing puts these complexities on full display. House and Land’s music is less adorned and certainly less processed than much popular music today. The hand-hewn quality transports the listener to another time the way a Shirley and Dolly Collins recording can. The themes are universal and the songs intergenerational. “Home Over Yonder,” for example, came from the singing of Frankie Duff of Lexington, Kentucky, who passed away in January 2017 at the age of 102. While there is a temptation to view this music nostalgically, this would be a mistake. This living music is constantly being rearranged. The obscure songs on this album, like many well-known traditional songs, are in a state of nearly constant evolution, a testament to their continued significance. Naturalistic and entirely modern, the music of House and Land continues this tradition with its own contemporary and beautiful interpretations.

The duo blends their close vocal harmonies with expert accompaniment on banjo, guitar, autoharp, fiddle and mandolin and a deep respect for their traditions. Like their ancestral neighbors of the Carter Family, Sam and Tyler choose songs rooted in their region that are genuine and varied. Produced by two-time Grammy winning artist Cathy Fink, this record presents heartfelt country duets, fiddle and banjo hoedowns, a comedy song, a labor movement anthem and a rousing old time gospel number. His new project, Too Sad for the Public, expands upon his earlier work with Vol. 1 - Oysters Ice Cream Lemonade, featuring vocals by Suzzy Roche, Ana Egge, Rachelle Garniez, and Gabriel Kahane. The new album has 6 originals, 2 covers (Carole King and Van Morrison), and tributes to Jaco Pastorius and go-go superstar Chuck Brown. The ensemble of 17 musicians includes Rayna Gellert, Chaim Tannenbaum, Erik Friedlander, Steve Elson, and Astral Weeks guitarist Jay Berliner. Genre: Rock / Punk / Alternative. Life are the untapped anger of the British working class in 2017. LIFE are based in Hull, a classic underdog city. But beneath the cultural progression and media attention there is still fear in the air. It’s this fear that runs through the heart of the band’s debut album, as explained by Mez: “Popular Music sounds like panic and anxiety, it's the sound of shitting it about whatever happens next week, about what you can weigh through on the self-checkout to get your beans cheaper. It's an LP made up of the psyche of everyone who can see they're getting fucked and there's a lot of people getting fucked right now.” The album was produced and mixed by Grammy award winner Ian Dowling. It’s a blistering, thunderous album that barely leaves room for breath. A quintessentially punk record. Anger, restlessness, tension. LP on limited edition red and black vinyl. Emerging from the London DIY scene, vocalist Laura and drummer Vicki first met playing in series of riot grrrl and noise bands, before forming Ex People in 2015 with guitarist Calum and bassist Ed. The band self-released a digital single “Without/Surekill” in late 2016, which was championed by Terrorizer, Echoes and Dust and The Sludgelord. Now for NHS, the band have delivered a bruisingly assured debut album. 'Bird' was recorded with Wayne Adams (Vodun, USA Nails, Death Pedals) and he's captured the visceral weight of their sound, a startling amalgam of super filthy fuzz thick riffs, grunge, noise rock and stoner, combined with a punk attitude. The ten tracks that make up 'Bird' combine stoner hooks and soaring vocals with a crushing heaviness. Add to that some thumping motorik beats (almost like a heavy 'Neu' at times), shot through with an ever-present melodic sensibility, and you have a band that once again shows that when it comes to heavy music, all gates are open. Lyrically Laura draws on apocalyptic and dystopian themes. 1 Not a Drill 2 Without 3 Over 4 Dread 5 The Host 6 Complainer 7 You Creep 8 Erlenmeyer 9 Surekill 10 Crested

Bruno Pronsato returns with his first new artist album in 6 years. Entitled US Drag, it's the follow-up to 2011's critically acclaimed Lovers Do--lauded by Pitchfork as a “striking and massive statement," and decorated with a 4.5/5 rating by Resident Advisor. The new record, which finds the ex-punk rock drummer exploring dense, interlocking rhythms and unorthodox tuning systems, was recorded in Berlin during the second half of 2016, and features a collaboration with Liars' frontman Angus Andrew. After the vast, complex arrangements of his previous albums, the 9 recordings on US Drag are relatively more upfront and direct, with a particular focus on bells, tuned percussion and the Sequential Circuits Six-Trak synthesizer (used to create many of the album's synth parts). Pronsato’s ongoing collaboration with Yonatan Levi continues, with the Israeli bassist appearing on the album's second track. Worlds collide as the iconic Penguin Cafe and Japanese producer Cornelius' mutual admiration for one another led to them joining forces for this four-track Umbrella EP. The pair crossed paths in 2012 when Penguin Cafe were touring in Japan, and Cornelius’ band Saryu Saryu supported them in Tokyo. Since then they decided to seize the opportunity to work together, and have reworked and reimagined existing tracks of their own, alongside two new Penguin Cafe songs. “Meeting up with Cornelius in Tokyo felt like such good fate we kind of had to do something together. And this two-way remix worked great as we could work from different sides of the planet but still end up with something by us both. His electro vibes inspired us not just with Birdwatching but also Dull Sun and it's a path we carried on down with the new album.... so glad we did that.” — Arthur Jeffes “I was listening to Penguin Cafe since high school so was excited to be able to collaborate with them. When I went to see their show in Tokyo I was surprised that they performed Bird Watching at Inner Forest. It was an honor for me. If there is a chance to collaborate again, I look forward to that day.” — Keigo Oyamada (Cornelius) The complimentary sounds of Penguin Cafe on piano and strings, merged with the electronic soundscape of Cornelius, form this special collaborative piece. Initially being released as a limited 12" vinyl edition on Record Store Day 2017, it will also be available on CD and digital formats on June 16th due to popularity. PREVIOUS PRESS: Cornelius’s lounge/exotica sensibilities make for a congenial fit with Penguin Cafe’s genteel textures and timbres, particularly on his mix of “Solaris”, from their 2014 album, e Red Book. The Cafe players then return the compliment with a version of “Bird Watching at Inner Forest” from his Point album, an infectious, Latin- avoured confection. On “Close Encounter”, string tints tug a cyclical piano loop this way and that, before “The Track of the Dull Sun” concludes the collaboration with another samba-swaying junglescape of high-pitched keening. INFORMATION:
‘Stranger’ is the debut solo album from Canadian artist Joanne Pollock. Released via Venetian Snares’ Timesig imprint, with whom Pollock previously collaborated as Poemss, ‘Stranger’ is a stunning collection of electronic pop songs that range from the unsettlingly calm and beautiful through to ferocious explosions of caustic noise, all held together by Joanne’s multi-octave ranging vocals.
TRACKLIST:
A: Carnival Melt Myself You Know I Would Do Anything Never Been You Expect Me B: Stranger Myself Apart Scratching Jealous Mind You’re Gone
“What happens when we push up against that which contains us?” asks Pollock. “By distorting the mirror, we may become plastic. When the comfort of familiarity is stripped away, it can feel as though we become a stranger in our own bodies. Is it through embracing the Stranger that we discover ourselves? Stranger explores the multiplicities of selfhood what defines us, where the boundaries lie.” On tracks like the album opener ‘Carnival’, ‘Myself Apart’ and ‘Expect Me’ Pollock’s vocals weave in and out of the bruised and bruising bass lines, glacial synths and stop-start beats almost becoming one with the music, before suddenly overpowering the synthetic elements to take centre stage in bursts of joyful exuberance. Combining an intricate, detailed approach to music production with illusive almost dreamlike textures ‘Stranger’ sees Pollock further burnish her reputation as one of electronic music’s most exciting and idiosyncratic new artists. Throughout the album’s ten tracks she continually leads us down dark, surprising paths as she experiments with and twists song structures, resulting in an album that feels both eerily familiar and startlingly new and continues to reveal new secrets with every play.

VAMPILLIA + THE BODY - xoroAHbin LP
RELIC79
BLURB INFO Vampillia and The Body are two creative forces that are no strangers to the worlds of experimental and abrasive music. Although both have touched upon various types of metal styles in their previous works, also has each entity shown an obvious penchant for compositions that lean heavily into the worlds of electronics and experimental music. On this LP, xoroAHbin, we sit between each of those realms, experiencing them in equal parts.

Neither group is new to the collaboration game. Vampillia counting Lustmord, Jarboe, Nadja, and µ-Ziq amongst their past collaborators, while The Body has a discography just as long and varied, with the likes of Thou, Haxan Cloak, Full of Hell, Braveyoung, Krieg, and more. And as perfectly as these artists mesh with others it makes sense that their joining together yields such a powerful result. Each track on xoroAHbin serves a narrative throughout the 30-minute album. Distorted electronic rhythms surge and create atmosphere as heavily-effected vocals and guitar wail from the depths. Then give way to mellow passages of strings and ambient tones, before surging again with abrasive textures for which both Vampillia and The Body are well-known. xoroAHbin is presented by Gilead Media as a single LP in a standard jacket with a poly-lined inner sleeve with a download coded included. We are pleased to present new high-quality pressings of the out-or-print Turk Street EP (2008, Howling Mine) and Gambling on the Richter Scale LP (2009, Perpetual Motion Machine). KRALLICE - PRELAPSARIAN LP
RELIC92 BLURB INFO
Prelapsarian is the new full-length LP from Krallice, released digitally on December 21st, 2016, bookending the year with their Hyperion EP released January 1st, 2016. Krallice continue the saga of their artistic growth by crafting elaborately composed works that are increasingly more impossible to define by typical genre terms. Not quite death metal, although obviously borrowing a great deal from the genre. Further from black metal than they’ve ever been without losing continuity with their prior compositions. Technical without alienating the listener or scattering the musical narrative. Heavy without giving way to basic metal gimmicks. Blistering in speed while never losing their precision or power.

And throughout the masterful balance in composition, Krallice also include lyrical content that appears to sway more on the side of the the personal, reflective, or commentative as opposed to the seemingly more cryptic content of previous material. Prelapsarian stands as further evidence that Krallice are an ever-evolving entity whose works will not be shaped or defined by any force other than the desire of the band themselves. When they share their music with us it is a snapshot of their own pure intent.

PRESENTS
About Originally released in 1970 by little-known Chicago imprint Futuro, 'Vamonos / Let's Go!' is the first and only album recorded by Brooklyn neighbourhood salsa band 'The Orchestra Soledad'. Led by trombonist and singer Hector Ramos, the music of Orchestra Soledad is characterised by brash and energetic salsa arrangements created by Ramos himself, who also composed (or co-composed) all of the music featured on the LP. This ultra-rare record came to our attention courtesy of DJ Amir who discovered it (along with a 'battle of the bands' trophy that the band had won) in a shop located only blocks away from the Bushwick home of Hector Ramos. Immediately captivated by the striking artwork and incredible music, Amir went on to include the track "El Ritmo Soledad" on his 2016 BBE compilation 'Buena MĂşsica Y Cultura', an album celebrating latin music from across the Americas. The Orchestra Soledad was made up of talented local kids (maybe local heroes), all dreaming of Fania All-Stars fame when they stepped in the studio, sadly destined never to 'make it'. Yet this one shining album remains, a lasting testament to their brilliance. Raw, authentic 70s street salsa, all the recordings featured on 'Vamonos/ Let's Go!' have a distinctly live, unpolished feel, evoking all the sweat and drama of a hot summer's night in the barrios of Sunset Park, Bushwick or Williamsburg back in the day.

PRESENTS
About Featuring a host of luminaries from the world of Soul & R&B, chart-topping songwriter and award winning producer Mike City presents new album ‘The Feel Good Agenda Vol.1’. Earning his big break back in the year 2000 as writer and producer of a #1 hit in the form of ‘I Wish’ performed by Carl Thomas, Mike went on to work with Brandy, Rihanna, Angie Stone and Jamie Foxx as well as penning Sunshine Anderson’s smash hit ‘Heard It All Before’. Renowned for his deeply rooted, melodic production style and distinctive vocal arrangements, Mike City consistently finds himself in-demand from A-list hip hop, R&B and pop artists, as well as finding favor in dance music circles during recent years. Placing him inside their ‘Top 100 Soulful House Artists of 2016’, Traxsource declared Mike “one of the soulful scene’s most in-demand producers, singers and songwriters” and “a name synonymous with quality music, no matter the genre”. A highly accomplished vocalist in his own right, ‘The Feel Good Agenda Vol.1’ sees Mike take centre stage, showcasing a selection of previously unreleased songs with a little help from his friends. Best described as R&B-infused dance music, the album boasts cameo vocal appearances from leading lights of the urban music scene including: Faith Evans, Lalah Hathaway, Dwele, Teedra Moses and the man whose voice kick-started Mike’s stellar career, Carl Thomas. About the guest artists: Teedra Moses was the first female artist to be signed to Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group and has written material for Macy Gray & Mary J. Blige among others.

STREET DATE: 06 /16 / 2017 Txiga means something like "come close" and that takes us right into the heart of the matter. Although especially apparent in the tarraxo style they are so connected to, the expression reveals unbounded enthusiasm for music, taken from the roots up, wherever the feeling projects it to. And so we felt this crew had to come across in a special way. Three seven inch records, one for each of the main producers (Wayne is kept as a reserve), represent three branches of the same tree. The 4 tracks produced by K30 explore a more synthetic approach to the syncopated African sound of the streets, a sort of avant-garde technoid expression of the batida identity. Sparse atmospheres, exotic percussion punches and something of a minimalist nature. "Melodias Do K30" bring in more drama but also a casual production method assumed as such - check the false ending. OK, DJ NinOo, with ondulating Oo's and that's exactly what it feels like when you get to the end of the spacey, romantic "Ambientes Leves", an outstanding slow jam guaranteed to keep those rainy days happy. The extra heavy bassline pairs up with circular synth waves for a sweet and sour atmosphere nothing else than unique. Then comes "Saudades Do Russel", a loving dedication in house tempo and sporting a complex, nostalgic keys workout. We chose two old cuts by Puto Anderson that might seem to limit the perspective regarding his production, but these actually push us back to the sort of raw ground zero where the whole batida substance has evolved from. Heavy, minimal, aggressive and happy in a way most os us can only try to grasp. The relentless, gritty groove on both tracks comes from another era to fall flat on the centre of the dancefloor and keep things tight. > Limited first pressing, individually hand-painted sleeves > Debut showcase of this ground-breaking crew > First multi-format release on the label Label info: https://soundcloud.com/principepromos https://principediscos.wordpress.com

SHINA WILLIAMS & HIS AFRICAN PERCUSSIONISTS AGBOJU LOGUN Strut present a brand new 12” reissue of Shina Williams’ monster Nigerian disco anthem ‘Agboju Logun’, pairing the rare original album version (released on Phonodisk Nigeria) with the more sparse 12” remix which surfaced later internationally on Earthworks. Back in 1979 when Shina Williams’ ‘Agboju Logun’ first appeared on his ‘African Dances’ LP, Williams knew well that the track was breaking new ground. “I want to show the whole wide world that Africa is alive with modern musicians to reckon with anywhere,” he stated. Now an accepted Afro disco classic of its time, ‘Agboju Logun’ did indeed bring together the cream of Nigeria’s players as a oneoff supergroup in one inspired session. As a long-standing and well respected highlife musician and vocalist, Williams called in the ‘A’ list: Tunde Martins from Afro Collective played bass guitar, the brilliant Biddy Wright (player on albums by Lijadu
Sisters, Blo and many more) contributed the famous synth lines and handled production, Fred Fisher was on trombone and Saliu Alabi played talking drum.
Enjoying limited success upon its release in Nigeria, ‘African Dances’ nevertheless gained some international attention when Earthworks’ Jumbo Van Renan licensed two tracks from it for an international 12” single release in 1984, remixing ‘Agboju Logun’ in a more stripped back mix for dancefloors. However, it was the period following Fela Kuti’s death in the late ‘90s that truly ignited interest in archive African grooves for a new internet generation. Strut’s first ‘Nigeria 70’ compilation featured the track in 2000 and it has been a staple in DJs’ crates ever since.

UMFANG
“Symbolic Use Of Light” Street Date: 6/16/2017 TCLR024 / TCLRCD024
UMFANG will make her debut on Ninja Tune's Technicolour imprint with “Symbolic Use Of Light” on 16th June 2017. Previously sharing her analogue-based rhythmic excursions via videogamemusic, 1080p, Phinery and Allergy Season, the New Yorker is a co-founder of Brooklyn’s colossal Discwoman crew and resident at Bossa Nova Civic Club’s Technofeminism monthly. She does not like to intellectualise her art, describing her process recording tracks in live takes - as being rooted in catharsis, release and improvisation rather than any identifiable high-art aim: “I want people to know that it’s accessible and that I taught myself and that you can learn too.” Still, one can understand why critics seek to ascribe this animus to her work, as she brings a refreshing sonic signature to the form, remarked upon by Actress who recently invited her to record a mix for his co-host radio show with Benji B on BBC Radio 1 / 1Xtra: “It’s techno, but she’s got these very subtle different ways of starting a track and transitioning from one idea to another – which is exactly what techno is about”. Her equipment - a couple of Boss DR 202s in the main, but also an x0xb0x and Korg Volca FM synth for the occasional “alien noise” - was the medium to record album tracks in live takes, with minimal postproduction “only for quick corrections”. Nor was the record made with an album narrative in mind - tracks are a mix of old and new, produced in batches distinct to her frame of mind at the time of recording. “My process is really about sitting down and seeing what happens - it becomes a time-capsule of whatever works from that time period,” she explains. The music of The Providence Research Ensemble drifts past the listener like clouds in late afternoon. Laden with vintage keyboards, strings, woodwind, and vibraphone, the début release of J. P. A. Falzone and The Providence Research Ensemble draws together a selection of pieces written over a three year period. Though the pieces themselves are informed by such heady approaches as change-ringing, power law distributions, and simultaneous variation, the resulting texture is lighthearted and evocatively cinematic.

"2017 is an important year. It’s been ten years since Discotexas was formed by Moullinex and Xinobi. It may sound surprising now but the reality is that none of us could image that 10 years later Discotexas would still be running, let alone everything that’s been achieved. It all started is a very simple way in 2007. Both Moullinex and Xinobi, felt the need to get their music released and heard, so in good old DIY way, they just started Discotexas. They had to. A decade went by. It’s been a rollercoaster of achievements and disappointments but most importantly we managed to get both our music and that of others released and heard and played and enjoyed. That’s the beauty of doing Discotexas. We can’t find a better way to celebrate a decade of Discotexas than putting out a very special record. “10cotexas” is a compilation that captures our history and our eternal passion for music. It’s a memorable gathering of artists and some of their most important tracks. But it is also the perfect excuse to present some exclusive originals and a few unreleased rarities. We’re proud of it. It contains iconic originals and remixes by Moullinex, Xinobi, Da Chick, Kamp!, Rebeka, Mirror People or Psychemagik alongside a "hidden-forages-treasure" by Double Damage and the first original track by the Discotexas Band, an in-house band compromising Moullinex, Xinobi and Da Chick."
ERUDITE STONER – Erudite Stoner Sundust Records are privileged to physically release the exquisite eponymous debut of ERUDITE STONER - aka Brazilian composer Matheus Novaes - who uses the medium of classical guitar to poignantly craft meditative organic atmospheres permeated with echoes of instrumental-rock, shoegaze and melodic doom. Originally digitally self-released in 2015, ERUDITE STONER is equally inspired by the yearning slow core of RED HOUSE PAINTERS and the widescreen emotional heft of GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA; the pensive dreaminess of SLOWDIVE and the dexterous hypersensitivity of NICK DRAKE. This affecting album can evoke the awe-inspiring vastness of mountains and the warm embrace of an armchair alone in one sweeping chord-change.
ARTIST : ERUDITE STONER TITLE : Erudite Stoner ORIGIN : Brazil CAT# SDR-002 FORMAT : Digipack CD GENRE : Classical Guitar LIST PRICE : $16.99 UPC : 3663663002100 RELEASE DATE : June 16, 2017 TRACKLIST: 01 - Spiritual Deliverance 03:22 02 - Alienist 02:54 03 - Ride to Nowhere 04:19 04 - Far away from city's walls 03:09 05 - There is no home 03:58 06 - Waiting for the storm 02:51 07 - Sand path 04:13 08 - Roads to somewhere 07:16 09 - Left behind 01:41
Written in moments of late night reflection, these pieces are not of the night but more of dusk and sunrise. There is a tangible quality to the recording, a realness which simultaneously conjures the stately cathedrals of POPUL VUH’'s Herzog soundtracks and the fuzzed-out isolation of lo-fi introspection. Novaes has stated that his goal as a musician is to provide a moment for contemplation and self-knowledge, a trip through subconscious memories of all that ever held melancholic resonance. ERUDITE STONER revels in a bittersweet pre-apocalyptic optimism of the supremacy of the soul which is particularly moving in media-heightened times of perpetual unrest. Listen and feel worldly weight dissolve into the aether… until the record stops. Recommended if you like: SLOWDIVE, ALCEST, RED HOUSE PAINTERS, SUN KIL MOON, POPUL VUH, NICK DRAKE.
POINTS OF INTEREST: > ‘The consistency of the album makes it flow seamlessly and effortlessly from track to track… exquisite’ (Echoes and Dust) > ‘An awesome release… full of curiosity and energy’ (Sputnikmusic) > ‘There’s a wonderful sense of tranquility throughout… the entire album is delightful’ The Progressive Aspect
