A

fter a 2 year COVID hiatus, SunFest in Downtown West Palm Beach, FL came back and stunned the crowds with some epic talent. The 4 day event had the West Palm Waterfront crowd entertained from start to finish. There were beautiful people everywhere, delicious food, drinks and treats in abundance and Arts, Crafts, and Fashions to catch your eye for sure. SunFest 2022 proved why it is the largest and best annual Music and Art Festival in the great state of Florida year after year.

On Friday night, Adam Lambert crooned his ballads to the standing-room-only crowd and Lil’ Wayne lit up the stage with his incredible presence and both of these artists used their boundless energy to liven up the people who screamed in ecstasy until their voices gave out. It was a super high energy event, and on Saturday, Steve Aoki showed me that I didn’t even know what the word energy 10

meant, when he came out with his DJ station pressed behind and between a towering speaker system and jumbotron sized screen showing off some of his crazy animated videos that went along with every beat. His energy made me feel winded just watching and his high octane performance was at an intensity that was incredible. Alongside these super stars of the music industry were dozens of other artists, some equally as titanesque including Boyz II Men, Melissa Etheridge. SOJA, Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows, Sam Hunt, and Slightly Stoopid. Some other artists present were Polo G, Topless in Tokyo, Indigo Dreamers, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise, just to name a few of the 50+ performers that were on the docket. Continued..on page 12

Also in attendance was Artikal Sound System, the female led Reggae-SkaRock fusion band. The sounds from this group were fantastic and lead singer Logan’s voice is incredible and reminiscent of Reggae Legend Tanya Stephens. Artikal is the perfect name for this group because they are for sure “an article” to behold. We had a chance to speak with her after her set and she is pure fire, the perfect combination of beauty and energy. And Logan is all about her fans. So many of the artists had security and barricades between them and the fans that love them so much, but she walked right into the crowd after her show and posed for pictures, signed autographs and even spent some extra special time with a few of her fans who happened to be disabled and wheel chair bound and truly made the event ultra-special for them, it was heart-warming to watch. She is a rising star and a really good human to boot. The event as a whole was amazing; there were arts of every style, from Graffiti walls and prints, to scenes of nature. There were local clothing designers showing off their latest fashions. SunFest really is a great family time event with something for everyone to enjoy, look at and listen to. The venue deserves its

12

own recognition. Such a beautiful and clean waterfront park and large enough to host not one but three fully equipped sound stages, all spaced perfectly apart so as not to interfere with each other’s sounds and music. Mark your calendars for SunFest 2023, it has already been announced for May 4th through the 7th in 2023 and if it is anything like this year, it will be a must see event. Red Ink will be there, that’s for sure. by Michael Devine u

KENDALL LAKE Sultry Rock Singer from Los Angeles

L

os Angeles

native, sultry rock singer Kendall Lake is no stranger to the entertainment industry. At a very young age, Kendall got her start by being cast in music videos with Rock and Roll legends such as The Smashing Pumpkins and Fleetwood Mac. Since her breakout into the scene, Kendall Lake has toured multiple countries and can be seen performing regularly at some of L.A.'s most legendary hot spots like The House of Blues, The Viper Room, and The Troubadour. She has also appeared on HBO's “TrueBlood” and her music has been featured in various TV shows and films. I wrote “Entitled” when I was in a battling mindset of self-deprecation and feeling invalidated with feeling boastful and proud. This song is about me feeling myself whilst being honest in what I believe my value deserves. I think we all have felt “Entitled” at some point. Whether that entitlement is warranted or not is another story haha - Kendall Lake.

14

The single, “Entitled,” can be heard alongside her previous singles including “S&X” “Voices” “Hero”, “Thought You Should Know,” “Lay You Down,” “Hollow” and “Lost Your Mind” on her public SoundCloud profile and Spotify. With each new release, Kendall receives more and more attention now averaging more than 1 million plays, proving that her fans are excited and ready for the next stage in her music career. Besides singing and acting, Kendall has shared her experience in the music industry by producing music events focused on independent artists. Kendall produced a Summer Concert Series titled Skitzo at the world-famous Los Globos in Silverlake. The concert series has become a platform for various independent and talented artists from the local Los Angeles area to share their craft with others. As producer and founder of the concert series, Kendall has allowed the event to be truly about music where talented artists can showcase their abilities to those willing to enjoy!

Liotta was a legendary tough guy / mobster actor is best known for his roles in Goodfellas, Field of Dreams and The Rat Pack where he played none other than Frank Sanatra. And he won an Emmy for best guest actor in a series for his role in a single episode of ER. He had starring roles in the movies, Cop Land, Unlawful Entry, No Escape and Unforgettable to name a few. And his credit list includes nearly 90 Movies, 33 Television Shows and 3 Video Games. His career was incredible and fulfilling. Considering where he came from makes his story that much more incredible. Ray Liotta was born on December 18, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey and he was abandoned at an orphanage. He was adopted at the age of 6 months. Luckily the family that adopted him was a loving and nurturing family that raised him to be the man that he became. Ray, rest in peace, you will forever be remembered for your work on the screen and especially for your iconic roles that are in the minds of everyone who watched movies in the 80’s and 90’s.

West Coast Rapper Snoop Dogg has released a strawberry-infused GIN called INDOGGO

Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus, simply put, is an icon and legend of Hip Hop. With a career spanning over 25 years, he has released hit after hit, and is an ever-constant presence in pop culture. T RY O U R M E N U Bon Appetite

H

ello again RED INK foodies! In this issue we hope you enjoy our wonderful recipe selection for this month. We are always happy to share with our readers a fun recipe for you to try. Enjoy!

Instructions: Step 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Step 2 In a small bowl, mash together the lemon zest, garlic, thyme, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper until they are thoroughly combined into a compound butter. Step 3 Using clean fingers, lift the skin from the meat of the chicken breasts and thighs, creating space between them. Step 4 Evenly spread the compound butter mixture under the skin of the chicken. Step 5 Truss the chicken, tying the legs of the chicken together and tucking the wings behind the breast. This helps the chicken cook evenly. Step 6 Place the chicken on a rack in a medium roasting pan. Step 7 Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Step 8 Brush the melted butter on the outside of the chicken. Step 9 Sprinkle the outside of the chicken with salt and pepper. Step 10 Pour the water into the bottom of the roasting pan. Step 11 Roast the chicken for 50 minutes.. Step 12 Increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees F. Step 13 Continue roasting the chicken, making sure the water at the bottom of the roasting pan does not completely evaporate, adding more as needed, until the chicken reads 165 degrees F in its thickest part with a thermometer, about 15-20 minutes. Step 14 Remove the chicken from the oven and let rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.

RECIPE:

Lemon Roasted Chicken • 2 teaspoons lemon zest, finely grated • 2 cloves garlic, pressed • 1 teaspoon thyme leaves, chopped • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided, at room temperature • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste • 1/2 teaspoon pepper, plus to taste • 1 (4-5 pound) whole chicken • 1/4 cup water, plus more as needed

Enjoy! *Disclaimer: I am not a physician or medical professional. If you have any medical issues or concerns, please always consult your doctor before committing to a challenge. The challenges are intended for introducing small lifestyle changes in a fun and easy format.

June will bring Gemini the ability and desire to learn new things that will bring you a lot of success at work, so do not be afraid to ask about a salary increase. This period directly encourages you to plan Gemini an exotic holiday, where you will have time to study foreign languages and learn about a new culture. (May 21 - June 21) You will want to have freedom, so building relationships will not be a priority this month. June will be a month of love for Cancer.
