AARON CARTER

Former Child Singing Sensation, died at 34

Aaron Carter, born Aaron Charles Carter was born December 7th, 1987. He was found dead in his bathtub on November 5th, 2022 at the age of 34. Details of his death are still unclear at this point, however it is suspected that he relapsed again based on his long history of battling drug addiction. He is survived by his siblings which include BackStreet Boys superstar Nick Carter and his twin sister Angel. He is also survived by his 1 year old son Prince and his estranged fiancé Melanie Martin. His family has been avoiding the press and has requested privacy as they mourn.

Aaron Carter caught stride in his career at the ripe young age of 9, when his self-titled album was released to incredible success, going platinum selling over a million copies. To say this was the start of a blazing career is an understatement. His very next album Aaron's Party (Come Get It) really caught fire going triple platinum and selling 3 mil lion copies in 2000. Soon after this he started appearing as a regular on Nickelodeon, and touring with his brother Nick and the BackStreet Boys. In 2000, he released another platinum album titled Oh Aaron. And in 2002 another one titled Another Earthquake!.

4 RED INK MAGAZINE 4

For the next 15 years he would only release a hand ful of singles and EP’s and one final studio album titled Blacklisted that was released posthumously, after his death. In that time Aaron was plagued by a very serious drug addiction and tried constantly to get his life back on track. He checked into rehab multiple times and participated in Reality shows including The Doctors to try and get help from his peers, however all efforts failed and his demons were never truly reigned in. His childhood stardom carried him far, and he con tinued to enter the spotlight with appearances on Reality shows and various television shows, he even began touring again in his late teens and early 20s.

His fan base was strong with nostalgia seeing as most of his fans were growing up alongside him so his tours had a degree of success. With an acting career and a storybook singing career behind him, it is a sad reality check to see how his demons eventually got the better of him. His potential was limitless and his career caught fire at such a young age. Aaron Carter will be sadly missed and the only hope this writer has is that the industry will take note of this tragedy and maybe try to help other child stars with proper guidance before it is too late. Aaron Charles Carter, you were taken far too soon, but you will never be forgotten because of the millions of lives that you touched in your prime. by Michael Devine u

Released last May, "Vida Tan Bonita" has been warmly received by both critics and audiences alike, appearing on the list of "The Best Albums of 2022 So Far" by the renowned magazine, Rolling Stone, and has now been cho sen as one of 22 Latin albums of the year by Billboard Latin.

Furthering a string of successes and recognition, her lat est single, "Dar y Dar" peaked at #1 on the mainstream Chilean radio airplay chart. "Vida Tan Bonita" is Francisca's fifth studio album, fol lowing the award-winning "La Fortaleza". Eleven songs written and composed by the artist give life to this produc tion, the second under her new label, Sony Music. "Vida Tan Bonita" was produced by multi-Grammy award-win ning Argentine producer, Sebastián Krys, and the also award-winning Colombian producer, Ali Stone.

SIZZLA

“Da Real Thing”

Born Miguel Collins in 1976, Sizzla’s recording career began in 1994, 2022 is the 20th anniversary of ‘Bobby Digital’ Dixon’s Da Real Thing, released October 16, 2002, and the respective 25th anniversaries of Bobby Digital’s Black Woman & Child and Fatis “Xterminator” Burrell’s Praise Ye Jah.

To commemorate these anniversaries, VP Records has relaunched The Bobby Digital Story on its YouTube channel. Sizzla’s Rise To The Occasion concert from Reggae Month 2022, can also be viewed on VP Records’ YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/jiHh2TzvMfU

For most fans of the artist, these three albums rep resent major peaks in his prolific career, resulting in core catalog tracks including “Just One Of Those Days (Dry Cry),” “Solid As A Rock,” “Thank U Mama,” “Guide Over Us,” “Give Them The Ride,” ”Praise Ye Jah,” and “Dem A Wonder.” As Firehouse Crew bassist Donald Dennis (Danny Bassie) summed it up in the documentary, The Bobby Digital Story, “When Praise Ye Jah came out, that was the begin ning of Sizzla. When Black Woman & Child came out, that put him in a different air, a notch up. What really dun me, the whole thing now, Da Real Thing cover it off [and] show the whole world he is the greatest.”

In the same documentary, Bobby Digital (who passed away in May 2020) recalled, “Me and Sizzla have a chemistry … In anything you’re doing you have to have guidance. When the music go out, when people criticize, it’s going to fall back on me. We have to make sure anything we’re doing, it have to be right … I can remember when Sizzla came and did the last two songs for Da Real Thing, I say ‘a it this … a IT THIS!’ And when I put out that album, it was a turning point.”

Sizzla explained the mentorship of Bobby Digital in his early career: “Bobby Digital is a next gold in the music. We love and respect Bobby Digital. Wi father that. The way you respect your school … stu dios are like universities, so you respect the teachers and those who lay the foundation for you.”

12 RED INK MAGAZINE

Now with a catalog of more than 60 albums and approaching 1,000 recorded songs, Sizzla’s career began through a series of 7-inch vinyl singles on Xterminator, leading to RAS Records’ 1995 CD Burning Up. Over the next two years, momentum built around a body of work, primarily recorded for Xterminator, but also including notable singles, such as “Holding Firm” for Star Trail, and the piv otal recording for Bobby Digital, “Black Woman & Child,” released in 1996. Between 1995 and 1997, Sizzla toured the world extensively with Luciano, Mikey General, and the Firehouse Crew band led by Dean Fraser, as part of Fatis Burrell’s

initiative to push his emerging label with the momentum gained from Luciano’s deal with Island Jamaica.

In all, 16 Sizzla albums were released between 1997 and 2002, including Black Woman & Child, Royal Son Of Ethiopia, Bobo Ashanti, Rastafari Teach I Everything, and Ghetto Revolution on Greensleeves Records; and Good Ways, Freedom Cry, Words Of Truth, Taking Over, and Da Real Thing through VP Records. Xterminator released Praise Ye Jah and Kalonji independently. It was the artist’s heyday as a major force in reggae.

CANDY KAY

Breaking the mould with her latest track “Feel That Love”

Candy Kay (real name Candice Corbie) is an eclectic singer-songwriter and instrumental ist who embraces multiple genres of music as evidenced in her latest single ‘Feel That Love’ which is best described as a Caribbean Pop fusion which blends elements of Pop, Soca, Reggaeton and Afrobeat influences.

The diligent wife and mother of two shared on her inspiration for creating this song stating, “The song is about feeling and sharing love with a deep appreciation for your significant other.

Relationships rarely last long in this day and age and it’s just a reminder to persons (who are fortu nate to be in a great relationship) to hold on to them, don’t take them for granted and cherish them.

The world, as it is right now, needs more love and it’s just encouragement to show that these long-last ing relationships can and do still exist, if you’re willing to put in the work.”

She added, “I see the struggles others are having in their relationships and based on my personal experience and marriage of 14 years, I wanted to give hope that long lasting relationships still do exist.”

Feel That Love was written and recorded by Candy Kay at her home studio and produced by east Trinidad-based sound engineer, DJ and multigenre producer CLAUDD (Christopher Dias)

The song’s accompanying music video was direct ed, edited and produced by an upcoming duo of tal ented T&T visual creatives, Abigail Corbie and Alasdair Bell. It features an attractive tropical ambiance and truly captures the song’s warmth and message as it features Candy’s own husband and daughters and the undying love within their family unit.

14 RED INK MAGAZINE

Multifaceted and musically-gifted are two words which describe Candy Kay, an artiste with decades of music industry experiences which included her work as a solo performer, being a fixture on the annual Parang circuit as a member of Voces Jovenes and performances at major festi vals such as the St. Lucia Jazz festival, Tobago Jazz festival and T&T’s 50th independence cele brations in London.

The driven and all-embracing Candy Kay aspires for ‘Feel That Love’ to gain international airplay and streaming and even to be incorporated into film or television. However, her overall goal remains the same, that is, for listeners to be able to relate to the song’s positive vibe and for it to remind them of the

beauty of a mutually satisfying relationship.

As she eagerly gears up for further collabora tions and to release a new Soca track for the upcoming 2023 T&T Carnival season, she remains thankful to her fans and supporters and promises to continue to be true to herself while honouring her vision of impacting lives through music.

JOHN ANISTON

Star & Emmy Winner of ‘Days of Our Lives,’ died at 89

John Anthony Aniston was born as Yannis Anastassakis on July 24th, 1933 on the island of Crete in Greece. His family moved him to America and anglicized their family names when he was two years old. His daughter, famous acting star and model, Jennifer Aniston, announced his death on Instagram stating that he died on November 11th, 2022. No cause of death was given, however it is believed that he died of natural causes.

John went to school at Penn State and earned a degree in theater arts, and later went on to serve his country in the United States Navy leaving with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Thank you for your service sir. He caught the acting bug in 1962 with his first role as Officer #1 in a show called 87th Precinct.

He then found his love of work ing on Soap Operas when he got his first role on the long running show Days of Our Lives in 1970 as the character named Eric Richards. In 1975 he left Days and went to the soap opera Love of Life as Eddie Aleata, he played this role for 3 years.

He played a role alongside Mary Stuart in the show Search for Tomorrow from 1980 until 1984 as the character Martin Tourneur. But in 1985 he truly hit his act ing stride taking on the role that he would ultimately play for over 30 years continuously until his death. In 1985 he returned to Days of Our Lives and took on the role of Victor Kiriakis a role that he truly embodied in mind and spirit. This leading role in one of the biggest soap operas of the last century earned him a nomination for a daytime Emmy and also a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award that he earned this year in June.

Although John Aniston is best known for his penultimate role of Victor Kiriakis, he also appeared in various other films and acclaimed television shows over the years. He was in Airwolf, Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, Mission Impossible (the series in 1969), Star Trek Voyager, My Big Fat Greek Life and Mad Men and dozens of others. He was also in several TV movies including Now You See It, Now You Don't, Night Sins, Sands of Oblivion, The Gold and the Beautiful and Return to Zero. But everyone knows that all of the other roles he played, paled in comparison to the role that he completely embodied for 3,782 episodes. He was truly born to play the stoic Victor Kiriakis. The world and especially soap opera fans will miss him dearly, but when you play a character for over 30 years and accumulate fans across multiple generations, you can rest assured that you will never be forgotten. Vaishali apprecia tion of skilled artisans and their detailed work started when she was very young. As an army family, they traveled all throughout India. In particular, Kashmir, a niche region in the Himalayas, have always felt like home for her. With each annual visit, she was amazed by its beauty and style. There, var ious fabrics like the Kashmiri cashmere or pashmina, as well as wool are a well known source of warmth and comfort, and it was during this period that Vaishali began to notice the exquisite detailing and embroi dery work that goes into each highly prized product.

Before starting Livalya, Vaishali designed throws for a home furnishing company. It was through this experience that she found the fine wool scarves which became the first product line Livalya sold. In 2016, she went back to Kashmir to learn more and experience for herself the processes involved. Through Livalya, Vaishali is able to highlight talented artisans from all over the world while creat ing contemporary and timeless designs.

RED INK Magazine had the pleasure of interview ing Vaishali. This is what she told us.

REDINK: Who or what influenced you to get into the fashion industry?

VV: During my childhood I traveled a lot with my fami ly and was introduced to various fabrics from different parts of India. I was introduced to the fashion industry as my mom had a ready-made garment production house. Being introduced to it at a young age helped me gain a knack and appreciation for it. It was never my intention to go into the fashion industry though.

When I moved to New York City I took up a job as a merchandiser at an embroidery house. Through this job I worked with various couture designers and fashion labels. This lasted for about a decade. My interest in traditional fabrics and weaves, and the desire to incorporate them in the contemporary fashion world lead me to start my own company, Livalya. I wish to ensure that these traditional arts related to fabrics aren’t lost over time.

REDINK: Tell us some pros and cons you have encoun tered in the industry.

VV: One of the pros of this industry is that it touches everyone in some way or the other. It does not limit to people who consider themselves fashionable. This indus try caters to each and every human being. A con I have found in this industry is that as mass pro duction of clothing has become a culture, there has been a drop in quality of production and a lot of synthetic fab rics have been used to maintain low prices.

REDINK: What can you tell us about fashion from when you started to where you are now?

VV: When I started fashion was just about quality, origi nality and expression. Fast forward to today besides the above, fashion has moved into a space that is environ mentally conscious where designers are now reusing and repurposing materials and garments. This indeed is the way to go.

REDINK: If you could dress a celebrity, who would it be and why?

VV: If I could dress any celebrity, I would love to dress Zendaya. I love her style and the way she carries herself. I feel like Livalya’s Collection would suit her very well. Additionally seeing Zendaya wear traditional fabrics in western styles will help show younger generations how traditional fabrics can be worn in new ways. Besides, it will help various artisans across the world

REDINK: Do you have a favorite collection you’re most proud of?

VV: Yes, actually I'm very proud of my 2022 Spring Collection. Specifically because of the way in which I combined the traditional embroideries and western sil houettes. Not only that but I had to overcome various obstacles in the production of that line so knowing that it is complete is another reason I am so proud of it.

REDINK: What are you working on now?

VV: Right now I am focusing on highlighting the state of Rajasthan in India. It is where the design of my fabrics were inspired. As my company grows I am working on inspiring people to want to learn more about India's vast culture and incorporating more key elements into today's couture fashion through my designer collection.

REDINK: Tell us something about you we may not know.

VV: So... before getting into fashion I actually wanted to be a doctor and studied pre-med.

REDINK: What can we expect next from you?

VV: Coming up next for me is my Spring 2023 collection which also includes a menswear line. In addition to that, my team and I are working on increasing Livalya’s visi bility and becoming a widely known brand that supports culture and quality.

This concludes our interview with Vaishali. Support this talanted & exceptional Designer. Check out her social media websites. https://www.livalya.com/home IG: @livalya https://www.facebook.com/Livalya

In December, Taurus will be carried away by the Christmas mood, and they will put all worries behind them. You will meet your old friends you have not seen for ages, and you will enjoy many wild parties together, where you will relax your brain, but your body will get exhausted easily, so be careful and consider whether it is worth it.

December will be a month of love and passion for Gemini. Since you have mastered the preparations for Christmas, you can take a moment with your partner just for yourself. You will be engulfed by the desire for a warm hug that will fill you with love, and nothing else will matter at that moment.

December awakens a lot of emotions in Cancer. During this period, you will be very sensitive, some times maybe even oversensitive. However, this is not a bad thing; try to get the most out of it. Cancers will be emotionally unstable in the last month of the year. You will need to spend time with family and friends much more, and you will be more caring.

In December, Leo will fully enjoy the Christmas spirit. You can put all your work behind you, as you have no rest left and you can focus on Christmas shopping and preparing for the holidays. After a long time, you will see your family, so pay attention to them and listen to them, they will be grateful for that.

December will be a month of well-being for Virgo. At the beginning of December, Scorpios will not rest for even a moment as their indomitable energy will fuel them all the time. In this month, you should let go of everything that bothers you and just spend a nice time with your family.

In December, Sagittarians will be super active and restless. You will not be in a mood for family meetups, and you will feel a need to go to the mountains and give a vent to your energy. You should avoid stress this month because you will be prone to headaches and a stiff upper back.

Capricorns will be absorbed by a Christmas mood at the beginning of this month. You will want to meet up with your whole family and your friends. You will feel happy and fulfilled when surrounded by people and want to give a lot to others.

Aquarians will enjoy peace and joy in December. Bigger family meetups will be more or less a duty to you, but you will really enjoy a time with your closest ones, and you will think back to some shared moments from the past.

In December, Pisces will be in good health, which will be a result of your good mood. Use it and keep your head clear and sort out your priorities. In this time period, you will prefer to spend your time alone because you will tend to take on negative energies and problems of oth ers. Try to keep your distance and focus on yourself.
