LEBRON JAMES

Breaks NBA scoring record with his 38,388th point, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Lakers vs Thunders at Crypto.com Arena, Lebron James sank a 21-foot turnaround with 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter giving him 16 points in the period, the necessary 36 points he needed to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s career NBA scoring record.

A new King is crowned with his 38,388th point in his 20-year career and he’s not done yet. Congratulations to LeBron for breaking such an incredible record, this counts as a colossal sports achievement. It took almost 4 decades, but the NBA finally has a new all-time scoring champion.

LeBron James was just a kid himself when he made his NBA debut in 2003 at 18 years old. James was raised by his mother Gloria in Akron, Ohio for his elementary and high school years before turning to the NBA. James Married his high school sweetheart Savannah in 2013, 10 years after being drafted into the NBA.

James and his wife have three children together. Their oldest son, LeBron James Jr., better known to the world as Bronny, was born in October of 2004 and is currently being recruited to top colleges across the country for his own basketball talents. James and his wife had their second son, Bryce in June of 2007. Bryce is now 15 years old and is a very talented basketball player himself, already drawing comparisons to his father. Finally, the James family welcomed their only daughter Zhuri in October 2014.

RED INK MAGAZINE 8

LeBron James is one of the most accomplished players in NBA history. He has been named to 18 AllStar games and 18 All-NBA Teams. He won MVP awards in 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2013. James won 4 championships in his NBA career. He won 2 with the Miami Heat in 2021 and 2013, he won one with the Cavaliers in 2016, and he won 1 again with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. James was named Finals MVP in all 4 championship wins and is the only player in NBA history to win a title with 3 different teams.

Along with these amazing accomplishments, James has also led the league in scoring once and in assists once. He is a 6-time All-Defensive Team selection and led the league in minutes played 3 times. He has won 2 Olympic Gold Medals and 1 Bronze while also being a member of the 2012 gold medal-winning FIBA AmeriCup team.

LeBron James is also a giving member of the community. He founded the LeBron James Family Foundation which raises money for several different programs that provide for youth throughout the country. These programs include the Boys And Girls Club Of America, After School All-Stars, The Children’s

Defense Fund, Gabriel’s Angle Foundation, and ONEXONE.

Through this foundation, James has also started the I Promise Program. Through this program, James opened an elementary school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio in 2018. The school has a goal to teach students from grade one through grade eight and affords at-risk youth opportunities that otherwise they may not have. Every graduating student has a paid scholarship waiting for them at the University Of Akron courtesy of the pre-existing Akron I Promise Network. u

“CELEBRATE LUNAR” The Year Of The Rabbit 2023

It was a bright sunny day for everyone to enjoy the wonderful Lunar Celebration on Feb 4th 2023 at the XL Soccer World in the Lake Nona area of Orlando, Florida. The event celebrated the “Year of The Rabbit.” People came out in great numbers to be a part of this spectacular event with their family and friends. Seeing all of the different cultures coming together in one grand celebration of Asian culture was truly amazing.

All the performances on stage were mesmerizing; acts included Taiko Drumming, Martial Arts demonstrations, K-Pop Dance Groups, a Tai Chi demonstration, a showcase of modern and traditional Asian gowns, Live Music, an introduction of the winner and runners up for Miss Vietnam Florida 2023, and let’s not forget the Traditional Lion Dancing. Every act was entertaining to watch. During the martial

arts demonstration, random children were invited to come up on stage to participate; it was very inspiring for the kids and a happy moment for all of the spectators.

The event goers got to enjoy a lot of things behind the main stage as well. There were many local community market vendors, a book signing with the illustrator of Lucky Cat and all of the tasty Asian food from local restauranteurs. All of the kids had lots to do with carnival style games, Soccer Darts, a kids craft station and the Photo-Ops with Shang-chi, Mulan & Raya. It was a well-planned day for everyone who attended, young and old. Thank you to Maxine Sudarma

www.madewithmax.com for putting together this amazing event. Also thank you to Mick Haupt Photography for all the beautiful photos.

RAQUEL WELCH

1960’s Sex Symbol, died at age 82

Raquel Welch would have” broken the internet” if it had existed in 1966 when her poster for the movie One Million Years B.C. first landed on movie theater walls all across America, showing her and her perfectly flawless body wearing nothing but a deer skin bikini. It was this movie along with a second one that same year titled Fantastic Voyage that launched Ms. Welch’s storied career and journey as America’s top sex symbol, which she continued for nearly 50 years. Her fame was obviously biggest in the 1960’s and 70s, when she was the hottest ticket in town and every director wanted her as a “seat filler” in their films, but her unrivaled beauty carried on long into the modern era, when in 1995 she was named as one of “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History" by Empire Magazine; and then later was ranked No. 3 by Playboy in their “100

Sexiest Stars of the Twentieth Century" list. And more recently in 2007 at the age of 66 she was made the face of MAC Cosmetics new line. That shows just how everlasting her beauty truly was.

Raquel Welch was born Jo Raqeul Tajeda on September 5th, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. And her career did not take off until the above mentioned movies at the age of 26. In One Million Years B.C. she had almost no lines and was more known for her body than anything else, however, being raised “right” by her parents, she had her own personal set of rules that she lived by and never once, not even in her 1979 Playboy photo shoot did she ever appear nude on camera or film.

Raquel Welch had a storied career spanning several decades and starred in many big movies including Fathom, a Spanish Spy Film, Lady in Cement where she co-starred alongside Frank Sinatra, 100 Rifles, a western where she

18 RED INK MAGAZINE

co-starred alongside Burt Reynolds, the controversial film Myra Bechinridge, of course The Three Musketeers, which earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy, in 1975.

Raquel Welch, died at the age of 82 on February 15th and will be dearly missed. She was not only an award winning and iconic actress for nearly 50 years, but she was also a lesson and inspiration to young girls everywhere getting into acting showing them that staying true to yourself and your ideals is possible in the film industry and you can keep your clothes on and still make it big. Raquel Welch was truly an everlasting beauty inside and out. She will be missed dearly by her family and fans and she will be remembered forever as the icon of beauty around the world. Rest in Peace.

LISA LORING

The Original “Wednesday Addams,” Died at 64

With the recent success of the new series “Wednesday” on Netflix, the character of Wednesday Addams, of the Addams Family is more iconic than ever. The person who first starred in the role, in 1964, was Lisa Loring, She was a child star who forever made her mark on the world as the first famous gothic little girl who was equal parts loveable and obsessed with death and morbidity.

She was born, Lisa Ann DeCinces, on February 16th, 1958. Born on the small island known as Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, Lisa and her family would relocate to Los Angeles when she was a toddler. Her family owned a small Mexican restaurant in LA that was frequented by the “Hollywood” crowd and early on between the ages of 3 and 5 her mother started her out as a child model. It was from this exposure that she got her big break being offered the role of Wednesday Addams in the cult classic and iconic Addams Family series that ran only for 3 years, from 1964 to 1966, but has since been remade several times as movies, series and cartoons.

20 RED INK MAGAZINE

The name Wednesday that was given to the character by its creator Charles Addams came from the children’s nursery rhyme, “Monday’s Child,” more specifically from the line” Wednesday’s child is full of woe,” which if you think about it is the perfect namesake for a five year old girl obsessed with death and spiders and revenge.

Lisa went on to be co-star in a few movies Way Down in Chinatown and Savage Harbor, and Blood Frenzy, and she had the role of Cricket Montgomery in the soap opera As the World Turns which she reprised for 3 years, however she will always be known for her most iconic role of Wednesday Addams, a role that she seemed born to play and truly embodied at such a young age.

Sadly Lisa Loring, died on January 28th after being hospitalized for some time after suffering a severe stroke. She was only 64 and sadly will not get to bask in the newfound glow of the character that is Wednesday, now that the Addams Family name is back in the spotlight. Lisa Loring, you will be missed and will live on forever in the memories of your family and many fans. Rest in Peace.

West Coast Rapper Snoop Dogg has released a strawberry-infused GIN called INDOGGO

March will bring a lot of emotional experiences to Aries. During this period, you will be very sensitive, and the hormones will go crazy. If you have a permanent partner, you will have both very pleasant moments full of love, as well as disagreements, especially in planning your future together.

In March, Taurus can look forward to an endless amount of courage. That's why this month is the right time to muster the courage to overcome the obstacles that have been holding you back for a long time. You will also be very sociable and thanks to your pleasant demeanour you will gain many fans.

March will bring Gemini a lot of energy and strength, which Gemini will use mainly for the benefit of their physical condition. However, do not overdo it right at the beginning, your body may not be prepared for such a load, and you could get injured.

March will be a peaceful time for Cancer. This month you will be more prone to colds, so rest and do not overdo it unnecessarily; you will not miss anything. On the contrary, you have a great chance that you will come up with a good idea, which you will be able to implement later, thanks to physical and mental well-being.

March in Leo will support his temperament. With great enthusiasm, you will embark on everything that comes your way, and you will excel in everything. This can upset your surroundings, which will be envious of your success. In the company of others, you will stand out with great communication skills and a sense of humour.

In March, Virgo will learn a lot of new things. Your memory will be very good during this period, so open up to new information and try activities demanding analytical thinking. At the same time, you can look forward to a big dose of creativity, so don't be afraid to experiment.

March will be a busy month for Libra. Get ready for big changes in your personal life. If you feel like you haven't moved anywhere for a long time, it's time to do something about it. If you've been thinking about moving, don't worry and go for it.

In March, Scorpios will start to desire a feeling of safety. You will feel the best when being hugged by a close person, whether your partner or a member of your family. Your need to share your feelings will be very strong, so if there is nobody you could open your heart to, you will tend to be melancholic or even depressed.

With the arrival of March, Sagittarians will start to feel very self-confident and relaxed. You will radiate positive energy, which will attract your friends and close ones, so they will feel a need to spend time with you. Your diary will fill up with meetings with your friends, you will become very popular, mainly because of your unique sense of humour, so you will not have much time for yourself.

In March, Capricorns will experience some dissapointment connected to their relationships. You will have to deal with feelings such as that you are always attracted to the wrong person and will stay alone forever. Do let those feelings fill you up; it is not true. Those feelings are just taking over in moments of despair.

March will be a quiet time filled with gaining new knowledge for Aquarians. Do not expect any big sports achievements this month because you will feel tired and might experience some muscle pain. However, your mind will not rest, so you will be able to use this calm period to sort your thoughts out.

In March, Pisces' feelings about a future with their partner might be quite messy. Even though you will be mostly in a good mood, those feelings will be affecting you. You should not hide your doubts, and you should try to talk about them with your partner now. In this time period, your acts will be affected by the energy you radiate.
