Born in 1987, multi-instrumentalist Olafur Arnalds began his musical career drumming in heavy metal bands, and by the time he was 17 was composing and scoring music for German and English bands. At 20 he released his first solo album, entitled Eulogy For Evolution. With music that is both ethereal and intense, while gentle and thoughtful, Olafur's arrangements are closer to baroque or romantic than pop, but employ simpler melodies and a rhythmical repetition akin to more modern styles of music. The sound is comprised of fluid string arrangements and delicate instrumental melodies: It is minimalist but mesmerising; a fusion of classical theory with electronic percussion and samples. Having toured with post-rock powerhouse Sigur Ros and, in March of 2009, collaborated with electronic music producer Janus Rasmussen (both acts are also from Iceland) on a project called Kiasmos, the young prodigy has already notched up an authoritative list of accomplishments. Found Songs In April 2009, Olafur composed one track per day for seven days, releasing the works online on the days they were produced. The pieces were applauded for their spontaneity in comparison with his previous work and his succinct ability to take a melancholic melody and elevate it with perfectly-timed chord changes or introduction of another layer of sound. On track two, Raein, Olafur uses the sound of an audience clapping to mimic the pitterpatter of rain drops falling. This fun-loving screamo/post-hardcore act from Beijing have performed over one hundred times since their formation in 2007, a wild three year stretch that has seen them play across China, including a recent show in Inner Mongolia. They are playing Qingdao on their latest national tour, which will also take them to Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Guilin, Chengdu and Chongqing. The raucous quartet, who sing in English and Chinese, have won awards in China's WOA Metal Contest for "Recommended New Voice" (2008) and "Best Song" (2009). The Beijing-based act have recently finished an masterfully produced, self-titled EP from Beijing's Sound Studio (Shengyin Zhizuo Luyinshi 声音制作录音室).

If you were French in the ‘80s, you know Jil Caplan. If you weren’t, you should come to ssLPG on 17 April for an education in soulful music. Caplan’s deep, resonant voice first rang out on the Les Innocents 1987 album À Peine 21. She won a ‘Victoire de la Musique’ Award in 1992 for Female Performance. Her strong visual sensibility has led her to produce several film pieces over the years (in addition to her own album covers and videos), and she loves connecting with a broad public on multiple levels. Caplan has been touring the world on a regular basis since 2004, enjoying a resurgence in familiarity as a solo artist but regularly collaborating with friends from Les Innocents. Her appearance in Qingdao is made possible by Alliance Française, whose Croisements activities are aimed at building cultural bridges between France and China. Qingdao AF regularly brings world-class Francophone talent to our city, including Al K Traxx and Labiur in March, and watch for the incredible Beat Torrent on 19 May.

The sun has been pouring energy on our planet since it formed. For billions of years it has driven growth of plants, which in turn fed animals, and the decay of all this abundance has become the fossil fuels which have come to run the world. But oil and natural gas are scarce, and demand for cars and electricity continues to grow worldwide. Many people think of solar energy as an important way to bring reliable power to people without relying on a dwindling supply of fuel. The sun blankets the globe with more energy in one hour than humanity currently uses in one year, and it will keep doing so for a few more billion years. There is no drilling, mining or toxic emission. An added benefit is that solar production is typically localised, and does not require the expensive infrastructure of power lines for energy to be transmitted to rural areas. But harnessing this abundance carries a cost. While

Qingdao is making a strong bid to make solar and other forms of 'new energy' a prominent part of the local economic landscape, by attracting firms that develop and manufacture evermore powerful components. Qingdao companies now produce everything from photovoltaic cells, water heating systems and charge controllers to solar-powered iPhone batteries. Bringing these firms together in the same area makes it easier for them to communicate with one another while also giving city planners a keen sense of what is available for widespread use. Chengyang, Jimo and many remote scenic spots have solar-powered roadlamps, thanks to the presence of companies like Jiaonan's JiaoYang Lamping. Companies from all over the world have opened Qingdao offices since 1995, and several have seen sales double year-on-year for much of that period as demand grows worldwide. On 29-30 April, Qingdao will host the first SinoGerman Business Cooperation New Energy Summit to provide a platform for potential investors to learn about city policies and network with other producers, while also raising awareness of new energy models. One major hope of the summit is to lay the groundwork for a green industrial park, which will run entirely on solar and other renewable forms of energy.
A Sharper Phocos German company Phocos AG plays a big part increasing the efficiency of solar power systems, making them viable for electrical needs even in places that cannot be reached by a traditional power grid. The charge controllers that they manufacture regulate the amount of power flowing into a battery for storage, and then regulate output to lights and other appliances. Without these controllers the batteries that store power in off-grid systems become overcharged or over-discharged and quicklyfail, leaving homes and offices in the dark until an expensive replacement battery can be purchased. Phocos's products are primarily for off-grid use, meaning that the homes or facilities are not connected to other power supplies. They run lights and small appliances for rural families, as well as remote telecommunication centres, industrial facilities, and streetlights. Many of their clients are governments hoping to provide energy for development in rural areas without the costs and emissions of connecting to a centralised grid. and can be programmed to turn loads on or off based on time & date, battery state of charge, and load priority. Phocos controllers have the added ability to store usage data, helping owners to budget for likely future energy needs. Phocos China General Manager Nathan Ashelman has seen solar's reach extend hugely in recent years, from growing demand for Phocos' products to large on-grid projects like the building-integrated photovoltaic roof on Beijing South Railway Station and muti-megawatt solar power plants in western China. While less than 0.02% of the world's electrical energy is currently solar, the geographical spread of their demand suggests that the market will only get deeper as consumers catch on. Looking at a shipment of charge controllers marked for Brazil and Panama, he emphasises that Phocos is part of a worldwide shift in energy consumption. "Phocos China," he says, "ships to over fifty countries on six continents every year. With strong consumer demand for green energy and falling PV system costs, solar will continue to grow rapidly."

Two years after the Beijing Olympics, Shanghai hopes to keep the world’s spotlight on China by hosting this year’s World Exposition. A “Better City, Better Life” is promised by the organisers, but what exactly can one expect from Shanghai when the Expo throws open its doors on May 1st?
The first World Exposition was Prince Albert’s ‘Great Exhibition’ in The Crystal Palace, London, in 1851. Since then Expos have provided the opportunity for countries from around the world to present and promote advances in technology, with national branding becoming increasingly important through the course of the 20th century. While industrialisation was the driving force in 1851, this year Shanghai will carry the theme of eco-friendly urban development with an inevitable spotlight on China’s rise in world affairs. At the time of writing, 192 countries and 50 international organisations have confirmed their participation, with many countries designing their very own pavilions, the main attractions of an Expo. Pavilions provide countries with the perfect stage to enhance their national brand and show off innovations, while the futuristic architecture makes the buildings a spectacle in themselves. Whenever you plan on visiting, you’ll certainly be in for a visual and cultural treat, although it’s important to consider when the best time to visit will be for you. Weather-wise, May, early June, September and October will be the most comfortable according to locals, allowing an escape from the sometimes oppressive Shanghai summer heat. The most tourists, both
international and domestic, will be arriving during the summer holidays, making July and August likely to be a rather busy period. The Shanghai World Exposition organizers will definitely be looking to put on an Opening Ceremony to match the Beijing Olympics, however arriving too early in May might mean that you’ll miss out on certain attractions; 20% of National Pavilions are apparently behind schedule. Check that your favourite countries are on track before committing to an early trip!

Ok, so these eight incredible restaurants don't fit neatly into the Huaiyang cai, Xue cai, Chuan cai and other characteristic categories of Chinese cuisine (although Shandong's own Lu cai is strongly represented). These classy joints cover all of the most important bases for Chinese dining in the city, from the world's best Beijing duck to the lowliest... sea cucumber. The flavours will amaze.
Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant Beijing! The cook surgically filleting the skin to get the optimal sliver of crispy golden crunch with just a bit of fat and meat; the ritual of wrapping and sharing bits of poultry and sauce; the rich soup; there are so many things to enjoy about eating Beijing duck before you ever even get slipped the tongue or have to face the bill. As ubiquitous as this dining experience is in Northern China, Quanjude has been the worldfamous centre of Beijing Duck-ology since 1864. While China's fortunes have varied widely in the past hundred years, the process and offerings at this eatery have remained largely unchanged. The ingredients come in every day from Beijing, and the ducks share the menu with an array of flavours typical of Beijing Cuisine. Must-try cai Roast Duck Duck roasted on an open-fire oven is a culinary skill
that spread from the imperial palaces and has been handed down through the generations. The ducks are moved around the oven in regular rotation, with the chef almost dancing to keep the birds cooking evenly. Aside from the local cuisine wherever you happen to be, this is the all-round quintessential example of Chinese haute cuisine. Braised duck liver in salty spicy sauce If you're at all a fan of liver paté, this appetiser is a great way to kick off your meal in silky, savoury style. Highly recommended.

Delicious dishes from literally everywhere south of the Yangtze River are brought together in a menu that absolutely explodes with colours and flavours. The decor is, well, controversial, but overwhelmingly white, seemingly so as to let the emphasis remain squarely on the food (it's just a bit distracting when you're sitting on Marilyn Monroe's face). Seriously though, you'll be amazed by the variety of dishes and how excellent the flavours truly are. Must-try cai Fried Scallops with Blueberry Sauce Australian scallops with hand-mashed prawns for an unbelievably rich flavour, then drizzled in a sweet and sour blueberry sauce. Sauteed Beef with Spicy Sauce on Stone Plate They heat oil to 200 ℃ and pour it out over a stone slab hewn from Sichuan's Jialing River. Then they pile on shredded beef, coriander, onions and chillies and let it all saute until the aroma of the beef, the sizzle of the onions and spice of the chillies make the dish absolutely irresistible to diners. The house recommends sopping up some of the oil on a bun before digging in.

Must-try cai Kungfu Sea Cucumber The slimy little delicacy is cooked in a bath of bamboo shoots and mushrooms, and seems to almost have a taste of its own, which makes up for the texture. To make sea cucumber dish so nearly patable is kung fu worthy of the masters. Choke it down, chase it with a cup of fragrant green tea, and no one will be the wiser. PS - like all sea cucumber dishes, this one's 'good for the man'.

2010 关注岛城新锐设计力量 Apparel artists talk about Spring 2010 Sophy Liu & Lydia Bi
Spring is here, with new styles, fresh designers and seasonal hemlines! REDSTAR’s fashion correspondent spent a few days in Taidong, where many of Qingdao’s upand-coming designers bring their wares to market, to uncover some new growth in the local apparel patch.

Lofty. Could you give us an example? Take this black metal stud mini dress. This dress is designed as an “H” style with extended neckline and sleeves, which has a visual effect of tridimensionality and slimness. As accents I choose metal studs, one of the hottest fashion features of this year, bold and bright. As for the fabric, I go for Korean silk, close to pure silk in quality but much more breathable. This matches with a wide range of accessories - leggings and a bright purse, ready to party; or with a windbreaker and a leather brief case, strolling to the office.
As a graduate of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and a multi-time winner of the Hong Kong Fashion Design Competition, Xu Cheng has held positions including chief designer at VOL.3 and the manager of Research and Development in Hong Kong’s Zhan’er Clothing Co. Ltd. In 2006, he started the brand A+LESSIO right here in Qingdao. What does A+LESSIO mean? ALESSIO is my Italian name. I chose it for my brand name for a number of reasons; most importantly, because I want my company to share my values in combining tradition and modernity, and I couldn’t think of a better way than by identifying it with myself.

你创立的设计师品牌叫A+LESSIO，有什 么含义在里面吗？ ALESSIO是我的意大利语名字，之所以 把品牌名字也定为ALESSIO，我是希望自己 的设计能排除一切陈腔滥调，寻求既古典又 颠覆的流行独立精神。 作为设计师，你所坚持的设计理念是什 么？ 我认为做设计始终要保持开放的心胸， 将爱与关怀放在你所有的作品里，而且必须考 量你所作的东西与所用的材料会对人类、大自 然及这个世界有什么影响。与此同时，还要放 心思在新点子上，不断地学习与尝试，想办法 把真正的自己透过作品表达出来。
Your brand is four years old. How has it progressed? Now I run an ALESSIO store in Qingdao. I’m looking for more colleagues in this city with real character, and a true understanding of design. A designer needs an open mind, sparkling with inspiration, and we need to be inspired by others around us.
What priorities do you set for your designs? A+LESSIO clothes are too comfortable to be detected that they are on your body. They are soft, warm, with little pert details. I don’t expect my work just to please the eyes, I want it to reach for the soul. Clothes are a manifestation of vigour and freedom as well as the expression of one’s inner voice.
能具体以你某一个设计作品为例，来介 绍一下你的选材、风格、线条等在处理上是 如何考虑的吗？以及这种作品适合穿戴在哪 些场合中？ 我拿那款铆钉小黑裙来说一下吧，这款 设计线条上是H型，然后领子和袖口都做了加 宽的处理，视觉上更立体了，很有修身的效 果。在装饰上，我大胆地添加了铆钉今年这个 很时尚的流行元素。在材质上，这款设计是采 用的韩国丝，有点仿真丝，不过纱质透气性很 好，是采用的高科技纳米材料。我觉得这些设 计算是时尚百搭的那一类，可以搭配打底裤， 然后配个鲜艳的手袋，去派对就是不错的选 择，如果外面搭长款风衣和大皮包，则干练硬 朗，也很适合办公室女性穿着。

Wang Zhao 王昭 Moving house seventeen times, switching eight schools and wandering on the streets of many cities, it’s a good thing that this Aquarius was born with an adventurous soul. Wang Zhao graduated from China Central Academy for Fine Arts, majoring in Jewelry Design. Her work was selected for the 2009 Green Exhibition for the Works of Contemporary Artists, and also showed in the Iberia Center for Contemporary Art at Beijing’s 798 Art Zone in 2009 and 2010.
What do your designs represent? I like the experience of being on the way, where I can find everything that I need. The process of searching itself is a wonderful journey, where I can collect interesting items and use them as the materials for a future design. It happens sometimes that the rudimentary design of a work has already been formed when one journey comes to its end.
Where does your inspiration come from? I dream very often and have a very good memory of the dreams. These dreams sometimes mix with reality. I feel that man is always trapped in the maze built by memories, dreams and emotions. It’s easy to get confused about who we are, what we were before, and where we will go. My jewelry is my life-long fantasy.
How would you put something like that into your work? Take this ring for example. It is made of worn 925 sterling silver. On top is a Bible. You can open it and read it, or put it on your figure and remind yourself of the sacred teachings. Religious faith is embedded in this piece of work. A lot of my work is actually more along the lines of sculpture, and fits in more expansive, imaginative occasions like gallery exhibitions, theme parties and bars, where its unique artistic features can be explored and appreciated.

就拿那款戒指为例子吧，这款戒指是 925银，是经过做旧效果的处理，上面的部 分是本圣经，可以打开，也可以翻阅，戴在 手上，可以随时提醒自己。在这款作品里， 我寄托了一种信仰在里面。我觉得，我的设 计风格比较硬朗张扬，比较适合非正式的场 合，比如说参加画廊展览，主题派对、酒吧 之类，会很彰显独特的文艺气质。

‘From Beijing to London via Vancouver’ Paul Rey-Burns
在温哥华举行的2010年 冬季奥运会闭幕式上宣布下 一届冬运会的东道主将会是伦 敦，人们在热情的期盼和兴奋 之余，不免会有一些现实的考 虑，因为作为东道主的城市伦 敦在举办盛况方面永远无法和 北京媲美。
The closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver brought the realisation that it will be London’s turn next, and the huge anticipation and excitement is tinged with the reality that, as a host city, London can never hope to compete with the pomp of Beijing. The recession will mark the London games - if the city can’t afford to spend as much, they just won’t try. It will be a ‘different’ type of event; indeed one of the major reasons London was awarded the honour over France was by selling the International Olympic Committee a vision of a more modest, sustainable Games. London and the IOC, they argued, could no longer afford white elephants and lavish spending on such a huge scale. According to London organising committee chief executive Paul Deighton, the Bird's Nest is likely to be the last genuinely iconic Olympic stadium in history. It is a sobering thought to look ahead to London's plans for a US$900m flat-pack stadium, which will be taken apart after the event closes. "I am not sure how many countries would have either the resources or indeed the controlled resources to put on an event like this," added Deighton, "I doubt we will have 20,000 people doing things in unison in our opening ceremony. That's just fine. That's the beauty of the contrast." China spent around $44 billion on the games, an amazing sum. In comparison, Athens, four years previous, spent $12.8 billion. "These games were an absolutely unique experience. This was the world's biggest country presenting itself on the world stage," says Ian Henry, head of the Centre for Olympic Studies and Research at Loughborough University.
London, whilst admitting it would be insane to attempt to compete on the same level as China, are not doing it on the cheap, The government's Olympics budget has already grown to $17.4 billion, nearly $13 billion more than estimated in its wildly optimistic initial bid. It's spending $981.8 million on the main stadium in Stratford, East London—a cost that's jumped $54 million just since November. A recent Merrill Lynch study found that 10 of the last 11 games caused lingering financial problems for host cities. Montreal needed 30 years to pay off its debts for the 1976 Games. One hopes the London games, the largest European works project in recent history, leave behind a lasting sports legacy once the flame passes on to Brazil in 2016.

While most Europeans lived in villas and mansions along the southern coastline, Chinese constructed homes mostly west and then northeast of the train station. The massive housing need resulted in a hybrid architecture type unique to Qingdao, known as a liyuan 里院. Both Chinese and German details are clearly visible in the architecture of these multifunctional compounds. Many people had shops on the street and then lived in the apartment above. The buildings were the main source of housing for most Qingdaonese for the entire first half of the 20th century (there were supposedly more than 500 in the 1930's), and while many are still in use today, it is estimated that less than 50 remain, and the numbers continue to decrease as old buildings are razed for new hotels. Although the local government is putting forth the effort to protect and restore some of them (Pichaiyuan, for example) a magnificent architecture type and special lifestyle is quickly being lost. This Saturday, 10 April, break out your cameras, walking shoes and sketch pads and head into the ethereal, vanishing back alleys of Qingdao's 'Old Town' for a tour of Qingdao's unique architecture type, the liyuan/里院. The walking tour will last four hours and end with an meal (optional). The group will be limited to 10 people as not to disturb local residents. Lunch Break 竹若日本料理 Takewaka @ Crowne Plaza 宋绮云 Noontime in the CBD... you certainly have your choice of Japanese set meals, but when you want an array of sushi and other quality items, the 58元 lunch at Takewaka, 4F Crowne Plaza, is spot on. Manager and Chef Mizumotosan came to Qingdao after many years as a restaurateur in Japan. His place is clean and comfortable (well suited to his location in the Crowne), and diners can while away the hour watching television piped in from Osaka (the recent Winter Olympics offered great coverage of events, especially those with a strong Japanese showing). But back to the food. There are of course a few lunch sets to choose from, but highest honours go to the house special which features excellent sashimi, grilled fish, egg pudding (the savoury kind), miso soup, fruit, and the obligatory pickled veggies and rice. At 58元, it's hard to beat anywhere, let alone in a 5-star hotel. Dinner guests can expect to pay roughly double that for a similar spread, but it's still great value given the quality of the food. Chunks of salmon and tuna sashimi, hand-sized onigiri (zongzi-looking things) and a pint of Asahi... When Rob Gifford toured the Labrang Monastery on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau, he saw a line of monks in brown robes - with ear phones crowning their bald heads - sit before computers in an internet room. This is among the fascinating scenes that the former American National Public Radio’s correspondent in China recounts in his travel book. Gifford reversed Marco Polo’s journey, starting in the east and heading west on Route 312.
The premise is heady, but the jokes run nearly the full spectrum, with slapstick, scatology, slow-burn gags and seeming non sequiturs -- like a bushman who dashes across the room and disappears into the opposite wall. There's even a moment of weird pathos, not that anyone will mistake this for Chaplin. But Matsumoto doesn't depend entirely on his high concept: as a break from the room (and his hysteria-drenched performance), he adds a second, Spanish-language narrative, shot in Mexico, about fading masked wrestler 'Escargot Man'. These scenes offer some solid lucha action and flashes of deader-thandeadpan humor, but are mostly a very long setup for one of history's most majestically stupid punchlines. What comes after will seem pretentious to some, although it works just fine on a purely comic level. Matsumoto clarifies nothing and invites endless interpretations, and viewers will probably walk out amused, bewildered, and maybe even elated. With most comedies settling for one out of three, that's practically Keatonesque ambition.

A striking picture depicts Gifford preaching a Christian sermon to a Chinese congregation in a simple church where a plain cross hangs over a small, flowered altar. He then meets an ex-government official who sells Amway products. The two experiences indicate the many different currents within the harmonious Chinese river. As for amazing vistas, few can surpass the Lake of Heaven below snow capped mountains in Urumqi. Finally, Gifford reaches the Jiayuguan fortification in the desert. Built in the 14th century, this brick edifice with its sloping front is the Western most reach of the Great Wall. Are you eager to try a new sport? Gifford shows the locals sliding down dunes on a luge. He is pictured with his hands on his hips, casual in triumph. Many will laugh when Gifford recalls how the people there “asked me how many mistresses I have…and are disappointed to learn that [he] is not the combination of Mick Jagger and Bill Clinton they are expecting.” Gifford’s colourful recounting of his brave adventure is a leader in the 'on the road' style wherein the traveler illuminates the diverse aspects of a complex country. The writing is vivid, e.g. “The worn black road shoots across the desert like an arrow before it thuds into a low escarpment of rocks, which rises from the lunar landscape of the Gobi’s yellow scrubland.” Gifford optimistically notes how more Chinese people can write their own tales. A body of players from all over the world meets every Sunday at one of Qingdao's gorgeous beaches to spend a few hours alternatively flinging the discs, fighting for field position and heroically diving to catch passes thrown by others. The team has made a proud showing at events in Beijing, Shanghai and Ningbo (frequently coming away with the 'Hardest Partiers' title). They want you to get involved. Ultimate, as the game is typically called, is a non-contact sport that features two teams each attempting to score by crossing the field to complete a pass in their respective end zones. Players cannot run with the frisbee, but instead have to pass it to teammates who are in better position. If the frisbee is not caught, or is intercepted by the other team, possession changes. What makes Ultimate unique is that it is selfofficiated; on-field disputes are dealt with by the players on the field coming to an agreement. “The
'spirit' of the game is really important,” said Michael, who is involved in organizing Qingdao Frisbee this year, “it means that you play in an attitude of mutual respect and allows guys and girls to compete on an equal footing, ultimately making the game both more interesting and enjoyable!” “We’re planning on entering the weekend tournament in Beijing in May and anyone who is up for it will be warmly welcomed into the FUNQ family,” noted Michael, whilst adding “high levels of skill or fitness are certainly not required in order to play and enjoy Frisbee (although they can help on occasion), keenness is far more important. 外资企业如何在华撤销常驻代表机构 Closing Down Representative Offices Adam Livermore
With the global economic crisis still affecting some businesses in China, it is a timely occasion to remind executives of their responsibilities when having to liquidate a business on the mainland. China-based subsidiaries of overseas companies may also be impacted by external circumstances beyond their control and have to close their China subsidiary as a result of a situation with their parent company.
1. An audit report up to the current month 2. The ROs tax returns 3. Ledgers and vouchers 4. Tax registration certificates (original and copy with RO chops) 5. If the RO is not subject to taxation then a tax exempt notice from the tax bureau confirming this status has to be presented
In these circumstances, the interests of a number of ‘stakeholders’ need to be properly protected and balanced – shareholders, employees, customers, creditors and debtors, and the local authorities as regulators and tax bureau. The closure of a company may often provoke strong emotions and feelings of uncertainty for many of those involved, too.
After the RO legal code certificate is cancelled and the check book, the chops and other related docs are cancelled then it is possible to close the same account and withdraw or send back to the holding company the remaining funds.
There are of course regulations under Chinese law for how these processes should properly be carried out, to ensure that the company’s final bills are settled, tax is paid, staff are properly handled, and all the company’s remaining liabilities and statutory responsibilities are correctly discharged. In this special report we explain the procedures you would need to go through to close a foreign invested enterprise in China, and highlight the many related issues that you will need to address. We hope that you never have to go through the process, at least for negative reasons. As long as an RO has no overdue taxes or other issues to be reported to the authorities, then the deregistration procedure can begin. The first step is to obtain the approval certificate from customs together with a declaration on the reasons behind the decision to wind up operations in China (the same written explanations shall be given to all other bureaus involved in the closing procedures). This is required in order to clear up all records at customs involving any office equipment, car or samples imports. Subsequently, applications shall be made at the tax bureaus (both local and national) with related papers and RO closure resolution of the parent company, with the director's signature and parent company’s chop. In most of the cases the following documents need to be provided:
The final step is the cancellation of the business license. In order to do so, all the previous approvals notices from customs and state and local tax bureaus shall be shown to the Administration of Industry and Commerce together with a board resolution from the holding company. The Penfolds tradition, and place in history, rests with a doctor who tended his vineyards as judiciously as his patients. When Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold arrived from Britain in the young South Australian colony in 1844 with his wife Mary, he brought vine cuttings which he planted around his stone cottage, which they called "The Grange".

Through the Second World War, the Penfold family continued acquiring land in Barossa Valley and other nearby wine regions. The company mainly produced fortified wines and brandy, with only a small amount of table wine. In 1950, the company decided to focus more on table wine, a task which was given to the Chief Winemaker, Max Schubert. What followed was the creation of great Penfolds red wines, headed by the now world famous 'Grange'.
Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago said, “The 2009 Penfolds Bin release is a fine example of the diversity that vintage, variety and terroir can deliver. While there are remarkable differences among these Bin wines, each one retains a shared strand of

Schubert believed that Penfolds needed wines crafted in the image of his legendary Grange. Penfolds had long maintained a system of numbered ‘bins’ in the cellar where the finest wines were stored, often for the exclusive enjoyment of the company’s directors. Max happily used this system to give clear and well defined identities to the new wines he was planning, starting with the famous Bin 2 of 1962. The 2009 Penfolds Bin release was celebrated last April with events hosted by ASC Fine Wines, the exclusive distributor of Penfolds in mainland China. The new releases are now commercially available from ASC Fine Wines. The strength of the 2009 Penfolds Bin release can be divided into two distinct categories: the outstanding 2006 South Australian red vintage provides the backbone for the Penfolds Bin 389, 28 and 407 wines.
