ount Sinai Girls Lacrosse and excellence have been synonymous since 2013. Winners of three New York State Championships over the past four years, our Lady Mustangs have compiled an impressive 87-7 win-loss record against the best competition in NY State over that time. We have created a culture of excellence that has transcended throughout our community and youth groups, where it is quite common to see young girls regularly with sticks in their hands, practicing on our fields. The 2017 Senior class arrived on campus four years ago and have carved a legacy of success in our time together. A part of two NY State Championships, this years’ team will head into the 2017 post-season seeking to make history as they attempt to win three Championships in a row. Steady, dependable, hard-working, they have all bought into our program and our process. They possess a team first, all in mentality which personifies our programs commitment to excellence. We have traveled many miles over many roads together my ladies. This years’ journey will not be easy but it will be worth it. May all our hard work be rewarded! I have been very proud to be your coach. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose. #Mustang Strong #WeAre - Coach Bert

I

am Camryn Harloff, a junior on the Mount Sinai High school varsity lacrosse team. I will continue my lacrosse career at Stony Brook University. Since third grade, being on the varsity team was my dream. I accomplished this goal in 8th grade and am now a three-year starter. Since I have been a member of this team we have won two New York State Championships and hope to continue this journey in Cortland for the third time this Season. Winning a state championship is such an honor and a feeling that is unexplainable. An opportunity that many athletes never get to achieve. Mount Sinai Lacrosse’s team quote is "Clear eyes full hearts can't lose"‌We repeat religiously as a team, and we strongly believe in it. This team is my second family. We play for the girls standing next to us. From the coaching staff, to the players on the field, to the sidelines, we are all in, all the time. Being on this team surrounded by this great culture is what has made me into the player I am. I owe it all to my coaches and my past and present teammates. - Camryn Harloff

y name is Chelsea Cullin and I am a senior here at Mount Sinai High School. After graduation I will be continuing my studies at Binghamton University. I have been playing lacrosse since 5th grade. I was the captain of my JV lacrosse team in 9th and 10th grade. Playing lacrosse here at Mount Sinai has taught me many life lessons. Being a captain taught me how to be a leader and work with others. I was a role model for my younger teammates. Together, we grew close and I still consider my team as my second family. Lacrosse has taught me sportsmanship. Everyone needs a confidence booster from time to time and that's what teams are for. Together, we all share a few common interests: hard work, steely-eyed focus, and most importantly - lacrosse. In the past, we have won two state championships back to back. This year I believe we can get back up to Cortland and win another title if we all work together and give it 110 percent all the time. As coach Bert always said, "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose".

y name is Emily Lamparter and I am an eighth grader on the Mount Sinai Varsity Lacrosse team. In 4 years I will continue playing lacrosse in college at the University of Maryland. Playing on the Varsity Lacrosse team has been a goal that I have strived for since I was in fourth grade. I remember being one of the ball girls at almost every single one of the varsity home games. Whenever I got the chance to talk to any of the players, I felt as though I had just met a celebrity. I hope that I can have that impression on all of the little lacrosse players here in Mount Sinai.

As the youngest player on the team, It was really nice to be welcomed by all of the girls. They made me feel like part of the team right from the beginning. We are not only a team, we are a family. We look out for each other and help to make each other better on and off the field. I am so proud to be part of this program that has produced amazing lacrosse players over the years. I am so excited to begin my Varsity Lacrosse career at Mount Sinai, and hopefully help to bring home a couple more state championships.

y name is Emma Tyrrell, I am a sophomore at Mount Sinai High School varsity lacrosse team. In two years, I will be attending Syracuse University with my sister who will be there a year before I graduate and we will both continue to play lacrosse in college. I was brought up to varsity in 2016 during my freshman year. This was the year after one of our best senior classes left, everyone said we couldn't win again after that. We all kept a mindset that we would keep trying and play our hardest to make our way back up to the NY State Championship. Game after game, even through the loses we fixed our mistakes and got better. We proved people wrong, and we played hard right up to the last second, the Mustang way. I was one of the youngest players that played on the field at the time. I was nervous to make a mistake so I played it safe and played with one foot on the break. But after the first few practices, the upperclassmen made me feel a part of the team. That's when I realized the culture of the program. Everyone encourages you either on the sideline or on the field. We all want everyone to be the best they can be one way or another so they push you to exceed that, and that's something I notice our team does best. We might have went through a few rough patches, most teams do, but our team always sticks together, we are a family and nothing comes in between us on or off the field. From pasta parties to team bonding we have all become very close. A team is more than just a bunch of people playing a sport, it's friendship and family. Our goal for this season is to get back on that bus to Cortland and win states again. The feeling of knowing that all the 27 players on this team have my back and that I have theirs is a feeling you can't replace. Playing lacrosse for Mount Sinai throughout my years of playing have been the best times of my life. The experience of friendship, hard work, and competition will be something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

y name is Emily Seiter and I am a junior at Mount Sinai High School. In two years, I will be attending Jacksonville University to play lacrosse. Lacrosse has always had a large impact on my life; I have been playing since second grade. I always enjoyed watching my sister play lacrosse and watch her team play in big games at Cortland for the state championship. What I envied the most was the aura of the team and how well they worked together on the field. Now being on varsity for 2 years, I completely understand the feeling my sister had while being on the team. This team is another family: a teammate would do anything necessary for one another on and off the field. I remember the rush I felt after winning the state championship last year and running towards my goalie and feeling blessed to be a part of this team. I cannot wait for what the future brings to this team and for the younger girls to experience the feeling of being part of a new family filled with camaraderie. This is what it is like to be on the Mount Sinai Girls Lacrosse Team. - Emily Seiter

y name is Emily Vengilio, I am a senior on the Mt. Sinai Varsity Lacrosse team. I wasn’t always a lacrosse player, because since I was four years old I was a baton twirler, and I will never forget Coach Pete trying to persuade me to get rid of my baton and get serious about lacrosse. It was a choice I finally made in 8th grade and I never looked back because I knew I made the right one. Along the way I was lucky to have people make a difference in my life. Coach Bert, Coach Carron, and Jackie Lyons, I will be forever grateful for each of you. Knowing that you have always believed in me helped me be the best I could be. The lessons I have learned on and off the field from each of you will carry me throughout my life. Next year I am attending Penn State University where I will continue playing lacrosse at the collegiate level, and although I will be cheering “We Are Penn State!” in my heart I will forever be Mustang Strong! Since I was a freshman I have played varsity lacrosse and had the pleasure of being on a great team with upperclassmen who really taught me the culture of the Mt. Sinai Girls Lacrosse program. From my very first year I was taught the all-in mentality that goes into a successful team, how in order to be successful everyone on the team must be playing for each other, and to not take anything for granted. Now, that I am a senior captain on the team I try to pass down to the underclassmen the lessons I was taught back when I was a freshmen. These same team values that I learned my freshman year have helped bring our team to two NYS Championships in 2015 and 2016. I will forever be grateful that I was given such an amazing opportunity to do something so special with a team that felt more like a family. This season we hope to get up to the NYS Championships for the third consecutive year, and bring back another title. This being my senior year, it is all bittersweet in the way that everything is “the last.” But there is no other team that I would want to have my “last” season with here at Mount Sinai. After I graduate in June of 2019, I will attend Brown University to continue my education and play lacrosse at the collegiate level. Right now, Mt. Sinai Girls Lacrosse is the area of my focus and the main event on the turf field of our school. It has been an honor to take part in this great program which has earned a reputation of being one of the most prominent teams in the nation. This status has been achieved from the hard work and determination of many individuals and by practicing year round. Each day at practice we work hard as a team and look to improve with every opportunity. Our goal each year is to be the best in the State of New York and in order to reach that level you have ro learn from past failures and improve in the present. With an abundant amount of talent and the hard work of everyone on the team, this program will continue to achieve great success and I am proud to be a part of it.

y name is Haley and I am a senior defender on the Mt. Sinai Girl's Varsity Lacrosse team. In the fall, I will attend Stony Brook University, where I will play lacrosse for Coach Spallina along with many of my teammates. I have played lacrosse since first grade with most of my teammates now. We have all played together for so long that we have built a special connection unlike any other team. Even when we aren't playing we are still hanging out with each other. We can look left and right and

know that we have each other's backs. We always count on each other to be there for one another. I am so honored to be able to play for a team like this. As a senior, I have learned to not take anything for granted. I have learned to appreciate the opportunities given to my team and myself. We take one game at a time and go from there. I have learned many things from this team like; culture, leadership, and to have trust in one another. I am upset that this is my last year wearing a Mt. Sinai jersey, but I have made many memories with my team and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. These past four years have been the best. When we won the State Championship in 2015, I thought it couldn't get much better than that. Until, last year in 2016, when we won again for two consecutive years. Everyone was so excited and happy because we proved all the people who doubted us wrong. The team and I have been in many big games together and we have learned to keep our poise and trust one another. We wish to continue our journey of winning another state title and proving people wrong for three straight years in a row. Lacrosse is not just a sport here in Mt. Sinai, it is a culture and a society. We have an incredible town which would go above and beyond for us athletes because we were all raised into this culture of our amazing town.

y name is Hannah Van Middelem. I am a senior at Mount Sinai High School and I have been on the Varsity team for the past 5 years. I will be attending Syracuse University this fall and will be part of the women's lacrosse team. I started playing lacrosse in second grade with the Mount Sinai Youth Program. Lacrosse has been such an important part of my life from such a young age. It taught me what it was like to be part of a team, to believe in each other and to understand that it takes, trust, effort, and mental toughness to achieve success. I was in eighth grade when I started playing on the varsity team. It was hard being the youngest player, but our team is a family and I felt that right from the beginning. My first year was also the first year that Mount Sinai Lacrosse had not only an undefeated season, but also won the first State Championship in the program's history. The best part of that win was that I had my sister, a senior, on the team and by my side. We went on to win two more state championships in 2015 and 2016. This year, I have three more of my teammates who will be attending Syracuse with me. I am so excited to know that we will be together again in our college careers. As a senior on the team, I understand what it means to be a member of this team, a team I have grown up with and am proud to call my family. We work hard and play tough, but as long as we are all working towards the same thing, we can be successful. As a captain this year, my goal and my job is to take this team back upstate to win a fourth New York State Championship. It has been an amazing experience to be a team, a family and a player for such a great program. I will forever look back on my time at Mount Sinai and remember the life-long friendships and the great team I am proud to say I am part of. - Hannah Van Middelem 69

i my name is Jacqui Cumings, I’m a sophomore and have been playing lacrosse since 3rd grade. I’ve learned that throughout my life sports have kept me happy, busy and in shape. The past three winters in a row I’ve gotten knee surgeries and was unable to play lacrosse which made me realize how much it means to me. Some other hobbies I have are playing the piano, drawing and painting. I’ve also loved to sail ever since my mom taught me when I was little. Over the past couple years I’ve played tennis, soccer, track, basketball, and lacrosse. For me sports have always been my way to escape everything and just have fun but I’m also very competitive and love to win. One of the main reasons I love the sport is because of how many people I meet through it and new things I learn every time I play. Between my club travel team, Yellow Jackets and my school team I’ve made so many new friends and memories. And I thank my Dad for spending the past summers with me to play lacrosse all the way down in Maryland and helping me to become the successful person I am. When I play there are things constantly happening, I play midfield which I personally love because I enjoy playing both offense and defense. Both sides of the field are always very exciting for me between scoring goals and causing turn overs. My goal with lacrosse is to get into a great college that fits me perfectly and will help me grow, not only as a player but as a person. When I think of the sport, I think of all the thrill it gives me, and even though there sometimes are low points, they only make me better. When I do something wrong I want to know what I did and how i can fix it for the next time. I always look at what an amazing experience it was for the U15 nationals in Indiana and how much I learned just from one tournament. It never fails to amaze me at how much a sport can teach you. - Jacqui Cumings

But, lacrosse has always been my favorite thing to do ever since I started playing in the third grade. This year I am continuing my second season on the Mount Sinai Varsity Lacrosse Team and my fifth season on my travel team, the Long Island Yellow Jackets. Lacrosse has given me many qualities that help me and will help me achieve my goals in the future. Such as, it teaches you how to work with a team, take orders, that on time is late, and hard work is the only way to get the things you want. Lacrosse even has helped me to get into a great college as well . I will be attending Syracuse when I graduate from Mount Sinai high school in the year 2020. There I will be able to make many new friends, play with old ones, and be able to experience things I would never had the chance to if I hadn't played lacrosse. It has opened up so any doors in my life and I'm grateful for everything lacrosse has brought to me.

Being on Mount Sinai's team has certainly taught me how to work hard. This team has changed me not only as a player but as a person, it has taught me to never give up and to put everything I have into what I want. Being on the team with these girls really means a lot to me, and not people can say that their high school team was one of best in the country. My goal for this year is to help the team get back upstate to Cortland and win states for the third year in a row. It is a great feeling to be on a team with such talented girls and great coaching staff, not many girls get the honor of having this on a high school team. This team is one of a kind and it's really an honor to be on it. This team has taught me to not just to play for myself but for my team, to play the best of your ability for your teammate. y name is Kaitlin Jensen, and I am a sophomore on the Mount Sinai High School Varsity lacrosse team. In two years, I hope to be continuing my lacrosse career at a college that's best for me. I was brought up on varsity this year (2017) and being part of this type of team has taught me so much already. After winning two state championships in a row in the last two years, our team has the opportunity to win a NYS championship making it three times in a row. To achieve our goal, we have to keep a strict mindset and focus by working hard. I think that our team works well together because everybody plays such an important part - whether it's being part of the sideline cheering our teammates on, to being part of the starting line up. Watching our team this year we have proved people wrong by having so many great wins and bouncing back stronger then ever from losses. I believe the most important aspect to a strong team is the chemistry between the players and we have built a strong and great family. On the field and off the field we have so much respect for each other no matter the age differences and I think that's what it all comes down to. Our team's personal mindset is going into games with clear eyes and a full heart - we can't lose which is the most influential part of our Mustang pride. From playing in the Mount Sinai Lacrosse program for all these years, I learned that the parents, the coaches, and my teammates have been the driving forces for our program to thrive and playing on the Mount Sinai Lacrosse teams have been some of the best times of my life. When we put on our Mount Sinai jerseys and we step on the field, we all know that we have to and want to represent what we work so hard for every day. - Kaitlin Jensen

Ever since my first year of picking up a lacrosse stick I fell in love with the sport. Lacrosse has taught me many things over the years such as hard work, determination, leadership, and teamwork. All of these things have made me the person I am today. Lacrosse allows me to push myself and work as hard as I possibly can, and if you know me you know I love competition! I am proud to say I am a part of such a great and hardworking team, I know each and every one of my teammates will work their hardest and push each other. Although this may be my first year on varsity, my teammates have made me felt a part of this team since day one. I am truly grateful to have a team that I can call my family. This year could possibly be our third consecutive year to win the NY State Championship and make history. We have a quote that guides our team - "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!" With this team and these girls it is truly remarkable how we put our heart into the game and we kill it on the field. - Kelly Johnston

y name is Kirsten Scutaro I am a junior at Mount Sinai High School. I have been playing defense for this program since the third grade, and I am moving on to Notre Dame in 2018 to continue playing defense. This program has meant a lot to me; not just because it has taught me perseverance, confidence, and toughness, but because of the friends that I can now and can forever call family. Every parent and coach has made sure that when we play together we make time to be sisters. That is what I value most from this program; that in twenty years I can still look to my 27 sisters the way that I look at them on the field, to have my back, pick me up when I am down, and to be the ultimate family away from home! Im looking forward to going for a fourth consecutive state championship with my home girls!

y Name is Leah Nonnenmann. I’m a senior attack/midfielder on the Mount Sinai High School varsity lacrosse team. This coming fall I will continue my lacrosse career at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Since my freshman year on the team, we have won two state championships and as my last season comes to an end, my goal is to win one more. I was also acknowledged with the Suffolk County All-Tournament Award last year. Not only have I had the opportunity to play with a great team, but a great coach as well. Coach Bert has been my coach since I first started lacrosse in the fourth grade. He has been with me throughout all my athletic accomplishments and that’s something special not every athlete is fortunate enough to have. To me, a team isn't just a group of girls playing a sport together: it’s a group of girls who spend hours on end together on and off the field. From practices, to pasta parties, all the way to hanging out on the weekend, we never get tired of each other. This team is more than just a team, we’re a family. We’re together through thick and thin, and when life throws us a curveball we tackle it together because we’re stronger together. We have chemistry off the field as well as on, that’s what makes us play so well together. Although the whole team represents the name of the school on their chest, if you ask any athlete, their number has important meaning to them too. Growing up, my biggest role models have been my older sisters and I’ve always wanted to be like them. Nothing made me prouder than sharing the number 2 jersey with my sisters for the last eleven years. I had the honor of playing with a group of great girls who I have made the best of friendships with that will last a life time. Representing the Mount Sinai Mustangs these last several years has been nothing but a gift with tons of memories that I will cherish forever! - Leah Nonnenmann

y name is Marissa Costa, and I am a junior at Mount Sinai High School. I have been playing lacrosse since kindergarten and it has been a dream to be on varsity. Ever since I was a young girl, lacrosse has been a major part of my life. I’ve never been on a club team but I've always dreamed of it. Every lacrosse season I push harder and harder to become a better lacrosse player than yesterday. Long practices, training and workouts have pushed me to limits I thought never existed. Being a junior, it is my first year on Mount Sinai Varsity girls' lacrosse. I never forced my way up because I didn’t want to rush my career in the sport. Although this season has been only going on for a little over a month I have made new friendships with girls I never pictured myself talking to. All the girls on my team have showed me my strengths and my weaknesses. They made me feel comfortable with who I am and not to worry about the hard things in life. There's never a dull moment with any of them. I wouldn't consider anyone on my team “friends” they're more like sisters to me. They’re like my second family and the field is like my second home. There have been many bumps throughout this short journey with this group of girls, but we all manage to get through any difficult task thrown at us, we push to limits people might of thought we wouldn't be able to reach. No matter what happens throughout the season, I know I can look left and right and know I have all of them by my side and I’m always learning from everyone. I may not be the best player but everyone encourages me to push harder and accomplish things I only dream of. I’m beyond thankful to be part of such an amazing team and have grown up with an amazing program. When I leave in June of 2018, I will always remember the positive energy and vibes all my sisters have left on me. - Marissa Costa

y name is McKenzie Mitchell and I am a sophomore on the Mount Sinai high school girls' varsity lacrosse. After high school, I will be attending Stony Brook University to continue my lacrosse career. I have been playing lacrosse ever since I was a little kid. My biggest inspiration would have to be my dad. He's the one that always pushed and made me a better person. He's a boys lacrosse coach, so I guess I really didn't have an option to play or not, and my older sister plays lacrosse at Stony Brook as well, so lacrosse has been in my life since forever. I can't picture my life without lacrosse, it would just be boring. I can't even explain how grateful I am to be a part of the 2017 Mount Sinai Girl's Varsity Lacrosse team. We all have such a strong bond with each other and if we ever need help - whether it's in school, about lacrosse, or a family thing, we know we will all be there for one another. I don't really play a lot this year, but everyone has their roles to make the team successful. There are the starters, coaches, and even the sideline. Everyone has to be all in to be successful. That's why I think our team has been successful because we're all in and don't care who scores all the goals, we just want to win and do it for the people standing to the left and right of us. We all have the same goal, which is to be back-up at Cortland and hopefully win another state championship. I cherish all these moments with my team because soon it will all be over.

'm Meaghan Scutaro, a junior defender. This is my fourth year playing for Mount Sinai varsity lacrosse and ninth year playing lacrosse altogether. Being a part of this team as well as travel lacrosse with the Long Island Yellow Jackets has made me the player I am today. Along with most of this team, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of huge games like county, Long Island, and state Championships in both 2015 and 2016. I hope we can do it again this 2017 season. This team is truly unlike any other. I have been playing with the girls besides me for eight or nine years now. We have such a close bond that translates onto the field. Although this family is one of a kind, I am excited to continue my education and lacrosse career at the University of Notre Dame.

y name is Meaghan Tyrrell, I'm a junior on the Mount Sinai High School girls varsity lacrosse team. After my senior year, I will be attending Syracuse University, where I will continue to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. I was brought up to the varsity my freshman year in 2015 and in that year we had one of the best senior classes to ever go through the lacrosse program. That year was one that showed me the culture of the lacrosse program. As one of the youngest members on the team at that time, I learned that in order for a team to be truly successful, everyone from the sidelines to those in the stands have to be all in. It's not about the name on the back of your jersey - it's about the name on the front of your jersey. If everyone is reaching for the same goal, then you will be successful. As I became an upperclassmen on the team, I took the same lessons I learned from the seniors when I was a freshman and tried to pass them on to the underclassmen so they can be great leaders and make sure our program stays thriving. This same mentality carried our team to two straight NYS championships. It's very rare for a team to go back-to-back upstate to play in state finals and it's an eye-opening experience that makes me grateful for all that this program has done for the team and I. I've also learned that a team goes farther than playing on a field together. You become a family after spending day after day together, with all of the team bonding and pasta parties, you really begin to come together. Our goal for this season is to return upstate for a third time and bring home another state championship to Mount Sinai. There isn't another town or group of young women I'd rather go through these experiences with, and I can say these memories and experiences are some I will carry with me for the rest of my life. "Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang! Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!"

y name is Morgan Mitchell. I am a sophomore on the Mount Sinai varsity girls' lacrosse team. After high school, I will be attending Stony Brook with my twin sister, Mckenzie. I was brought up to the varsity in 2016. At first I was a little intimidated by all of the older girls, but as the season went on these girls were like my sisters. In 2015 , the varsity had a really good senior class and when they left everyone said Mount Sinai could never win a state championship again. When I went up to varsity the next year, our coach said we have a goal to prove people wrong, but we're gonna take it game by game and that's exactly what we did. Even if you didn't play on the field, you still had a big role on the team. That was to cheer your teammates on and work at practice to make yourself and your teammates better. Last year, we went to CBA and lost by one, but our team became closer after that trip. We also went to Cortland to play in the NY State championship and no one thought we could do it besides the people on the team and the next thing you know - we were proving people wrong. - Morgan Mitchell

y name is Rayna Sabella and I am a senior on the Mount Sinai High School's varsity lacrosse team. Next year I will be attending Stony Brook University and will continue to play lacrosse throughout college. Being a part of Mount Sinai’s girl’s lacrosse program has been nothing but a pleasure filled with memories and fun times. Here we consider our team a family, and over time relationships and friendships developed that have the potential to last a lifetime. Everyone has each other’s backs on this team and knowing that there is a whole group of girls that will always be there for you is a great feeling. This sport has taught me many life lessons and that there are always going to be ups and downs, but my teammates have always picked each other up in any way, shape or form. I've been on the varsity girls' lacrosse team since my freshman year and I am in the middle of my final season as a Mount Sinai lacrosse player. Our goal for this year and for every year is to go back upstate to Cortland, NY and compete for the New York State Championship. It would be an indescribable feeling to walk off Cortland’s turf with medals around our necks and chocolate milks in our hands. Our focus is to play for each other and play with our hearts, pour everything out on the field. To do what other people think we cannot is a huge driving force to get us where we want to go. With this being my final season playing lacrosse for Mount Sinai High School, my priority is to do whatever it takes to get us back to Cortland, NY and play my heart out. These final times putting on my jersey are going to be emotional, although I know my team will be with me no matter what happens. I would not want to take on this challenge with any other group of girls, and I will cherish every moment we all have together! - Rayna Sabella

y name is Sienna Masullo and I am a junior at Mount Sinai High school. I have been playing lacrosse since fifth grade and it has always been my dream to be on the varsity field. My future will be at Pace University where lacrosse will continue to play an important role in my life. In fifth grade, a goalie named Julia Michaels trained me and told me how much she loved to play the game, the thrill of it all, and how close she felt to her teammates. At that time, I was envious because I did not feel like my team had anything to come together and compete for at the time. In eighth grade, I was pulled up onto the JV team and that’s when my journey began. All of a sudden, I was connecting with my teammates. We all had a common goal, to have a great season and have fun. We had many pasta parties and sleepovers and I’ll never forget those moments. Being that it is my first year on varsity, I was shocked to find out just how similar it was compared to JV. Yes, the training is much more intense on the body but fun regardless. We are all still very close and have pasta parties, see movies, and just hang out. I have never felt this kind of closeness in any other sport. I would do anything for my team and I know they’d do the same. I share my waters, I bring snacks, I let them borrow clothes, I give them Advil, I’ll give them a ride anywhere anytime, because I know if I ever needed anything they would be there for me. It's crazy that girls that I would never see wanting to be my friend have become some of my best friends, and all thanks to lacrosse. As the intensity and focus carry on with a burning passion, the season only becomes more in our favor and the strive for another championship continues. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose. - Sienna Masullo

y name is Sydney Cullin, I am a sophomore at Mount Sinai playing on the girls varsity lacrosse team. From the start of being pulled up to the varsity, the upperclassmen made me feel very comfortable around them as if we have all been on the same team for years now. Every time one of us makes an error we have each other to remind us to keep our heads up and stay positive, then make the adjustment to become a better lacrosse players. From practice, to pasta parties, to games and team trips, we all become closer everyday and the feeling of having 27 people that are always there to cheer you up is an irreplaceable feeling. Every day we become better and better lacrosse players from the encouragement of each other and our coaches. I'm willing to give my everything to benefit the team and contribute to the hard work it takes to get our team back up to Cortland and win states. No matter what your role is on our team every single person has an effect on our success. My main goal is to mentally strengthen myself to overcome my performance fear and I feel my coach has helped our team to overcome this fear of performance anxiety by always sending us positive quotes to remind us of how we can succeed to get to the top. By always keeping the quotes of “clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose” and “prove people wrong” in our heads, we all push ourselves to put in 100% at all times and work hard for our main goal to succeed and win another state championship. - Sydney Cullin 133

y name is Veronica Venezia. I am a senior at Mount Sinai High School and I play varsity volleyball, basketball and lacrosse. I will be attending Lebanon Valley College next year and will be playing basketball and lacrosse there. I will be majoring in physical therapy which is about a 6 to 7 year program. I have been playing lacrosse for longer than I can remember. I have been playing alongside my teammates since we were little girls. We have known our varsity coach since we started Yellow Jackets back in the day because he helps out with the coaching. Therefore, we are all very close. We have all been playing on Yellow Jackets since the program first began. I have been on the varsity team since ninth grade and I have watched our team grow together each year, especially the girls in my grade. We have grown so close since we have been playing together for so long. It helps us play better as a team, because of the chemistry we have built over the years. Ever since my junior year I have become more of a post player in the crease. My job is to finish when I get the ball inside. Our team has one two state championships back-to-back. We have been working so hard this year to make it three years in a row. I believe we can do it! Many people have doubted us because they did not think we were good enough. However, we have proved them wrong in the past and we will prove them wrong this year too. Being part of this team has taught me many things over the years. It has taught me to trust my teammates, to play as a team, and what culture means. I am sad that I am graduating soon but I am very excited for college because I am going to be playing my two favorite sports in college. I will take what I learned from this team with me and I will remember it forever! - Veronica Venezia

am Camryn Harloff, a junior on the Mount Sinai High school varsity lacrosse team. Mount Sinai Lacrosse’s team quote is "Clear eyes full hearts can't lose"…We repeat religiously as a team, and we strongly believe in it. This team is my second family. We play for the girls standing next to us. From the coaching staff, to the players on the field, to the sidelines, we are all in, all the time. Being on this team surrounded by this great culture is what has made me into the player I am. I owe it all to my coaches and my past and present teammates.

y name is Emma Tyrrell, I am a sophomore at Mount Sinai High School varsity lacrosse team.

The Five W’s of Life:

PARENT’S CORNER

WHO you are is what makes you special. Do not change for anyone. WHAT lies ahead will always be a mystery. Do not be afraid to explore. WHEN life pushes you over, push back harder. WHERE there are choices to make, make the one you won’t regret. WHY things happen will never be certain. Take it in stride and move forward. - Unknown

Dear Leah, We are not quite sure how 18 years have passed so quickly. We have joyfully watched you transform from an infant to a child, from a young lady, to a teenager; and, now a young adult. You have truly made us the proudest parents, our love for you is boundless. The time has arrived for us to let you go; for you to embark on your next adventure. We cherish watching you soar and grow on each new journey. There are so many things we still want to say. First and foremost, remember there’s no place like home, we are ALWAYS here for you. Surround yourself with honest, hardworking, loving people to emulate, and avoid the ones that embark on paths of self destruction. Show gratitude to all of the people who have gotten you to where you are today. Don’t look down on anyone unless you are helping them up. Life doesn’t always follow the plans you have made. Be prepared for highs and lows; celebrate the highs and ask for help during the lows. Success is not measured by your job, your education, how much money you have or what kind of car you drive. Success is determined by who you are, how you treat others and how you lead your life. Good kids still exist, thank you for being one of those kids; our beautiful daughter. Congratulations, Love, Mom & Dad
