y future goals are to continue to play lacrosse in college, attending Duke University. Ever since I started playing lacrosse in 4th grade I knew it was something I loved and would want to continue to play after high school. To me, the word team means a lot. A team is a group of girls who come together to achieve a common goal. Our goal on this team is to make it to states. Our team this year has had such a close bond which was a major key to our success. I think we found it easy to play well together when you’re playing with all of your friends. My team has influenced me to be a better person in my day to day life. This team has taught me to be motivated and determined to work hard in everything you do. This means working hard not only on the field, but also the classroom. My coach has taught me that you can achieve anything you set your mind to if you put in the work. My family has shown me great support throughout everything I do. They have had a major impact in who I am today. They helped me with this by teaching me good values growing up that I’ll keep with me throughout my entire lacrosse career. I plan on pursuing lacrosse in college at Duke University in 2019. Growing up I always wore my Duke sweatshirt with the hopes of going there one day. It has always been my dream school and I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to play there as a blue devil. I can make the community a better place by spreading the love of lacrosse to the younger girls throughout our community of Northport. Growing up I always looked up to the girls that played on the varsity team. Now it’s my turn to continue this to the next generation and pay forward the techniques I learned growing up in this community. - Olivia Carner

y name is Deirdre Enright #1 and I am a senior at Northport High School. This is my third year playing for Coach Rose on the Northport Girls Varsity Lacrosse team as an attack player. I have grown up playing lacrosse since 2nd grade, on various teams including the PAL town team, Yellow Jackets and both Middle School and High School. Lacrosse has been such a huge part of my life. I am the youngest of 3 children and both my siblings played lacrosse throughout their childhood. My family has been my strongest supporters as well as my biggest fans. They have been there for me every game, tournament and anything else that my lacrosse career has required. I would not have come this far without all their love and support. I have committed to play lacrosse at Mercy College in the fall as I pursue my education to become a Speech Pathologist and look forward to having my family right there by my side cheering me on. To me, team means family. As teammates, we all become like sisters-we may fight and disagree but we all have each other’s backs when it is needed most. Being on a team means relying on your teammates to accomplish a goal. Mistakes will be made and lessons will be learned. The bottom line of being on a team is how we function together to learn from those mistakes and take what we have learned to become a better, stronger team. By working harder to better yourself, you ultimately strengthen the team. It is not about the time at practice, it is about the bus rides to and from games, pasta parties and little hangouts that create the family bond. Being on a team has definitely helped shape me into the person I am today. I have learned to put others before myself and always look out for the underdog. It has taught me to work hard and always strive to do my best. Being a teammate means to care about others and also means that you are never alone. Coach Rose says, as a team “We win as one and we lose as one. I would better my community by instilling the ideas of a team among its people. The goal of putting others before yourself would help to create a better community atmosphere.

y name is Brenna Farrington and I am currently a Senior and a three sport varsity captain at Northport High School . I am the older sister to my brothers, Ryan and Connor, a member of The National Honor Society, active in my Church, and I love to sail and all things that have to do with being on the water. I began playing lacrosse in 3rd grade and I have played every position over the years, first on the PAL town league, then playing for the Yellow Jackets travel club as well as for my middle school. I began playing for the high school in 8th grade. My starting positions for both freshman and sophomore years was on defense. Throughout my junior and senior year I have been the starting center midfielder, backer and take the draws. I have been a member of the varsity soccer team since 9th grade and was the starting goalie for sophomore and junior year. Senior year I was projected to be a forward but then got hurt and led the team from the sidelines. I was chosen for varsity basketball in 8th grade and I have held a starting position since sophomore year. I was fortunate enough to receive the All League for the past three years and All County award sophomore and junior year. To me, the word team means being a part of a family that is committed to each other, who share a love of the game, possess the willingness and dedication to work hard, and who unconditionally support each other, both on and off the field. Every team that I play on brings new opportunities and new friends. My teammates are like family and it is the best part of playing any sport. My future will include attending the United States Coast Guard Academy and playing for their basketball and lacrosse teams. I am beyond excited to become a Bear, but also sad to no longer be a Northport Tiger. However, to me, the Northport Tiger family is forever so in my heart I will always be a Northport Tiger. Both my teammates and my family have pushed me to become the person I am through their unwavering support and willingness to push me to my highest potential. Without my family, teammates and friends, I would not be the athlete or person that I am today and I can not thank them enough for everything. - Brenna Farrington

y name is Caroline Fitzgerald and I am a sophomore defender on the girl’s varsity lacrosse team at Northport High School. I also play on the varsity basketball team and participate in many clubs. I wear #23 on the lacrosse field. In the future, I would like to attend college and hopefully get the opportunity to play there. This is my second season playing on this team and so far, it has held a special place in my heart. To me, a team is much more than what it appears to be during a game. A team has many elements to it, including different players that have different roles. A team has players that push their teammates to perform their very best by practicing for countless hours. A team has elements of trust and loyalty on and off the field, which is crucial in order to succeed. I think all of these qualities apply to our team here at Northport High School because the bonds we share are all very strong. This specific team has influenced me in many ways. It has taught me that being great comes at a price, and sacrifices sometimes need to be made for the sake of the team. My coaches have pushed me and showed me what I can achieve, which I am very thankful for. I’m also grateful for my family because without their constant support, I wouldn’t be the lacrosse player I am today. I am so glad I have been able to be a part of this team for the past two years and I can’t wait to see where it takes us in the years ahead. The things I am learning and will learn on Northport varsity are valuable lessons and experiences that I will cherish and remember for a lifetime. - Caroline Fitzgerald

y future goals are to be the best I can be in all aspects of my life. Success is not just measured with materials but also measured with personal happiness. I want to attend a college where sports are offered and are highly competitive. Winning is a great feeling when accomplished with a team that has the same drive. I would love to play lacrosse in college to build relationships and to satisfy my love for the game of lacrosse. Sports along with fitness and a healthy lifestyle are very important to my personal happiness. The word “team” means more than just wearing the same jersey and being together on a field. A team is built on trust, honesty, commitment, communication and success. Each person is just as important as the other. Everyone plays a role in the success of the team. You need to keep in mind that everyone is counting on you, so always give 110%. My high school lacrosse team has motivated me to try even harder to make a difference on the team. Our winning record gives me the motivation to be the best I can be for the success of the team. My family has given me the confidence and courage to succeed in school, sports and my everyday life. Without the support of my parents, I would not have been able to achieve the success I have experienced scholastically. Having my mom and dad being there for me has given me the confidence to achieve my goals. My parents have been key role models for me. They believe that everyone’s first priority is to be a “good person”. They always tell me to treat people how you would like to be treated. Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes could be a real eye opener and conditions you to be empathic to others. Leading by example will hopefully make the community in which I live in a better place. I am proud of where I live and want others to feel the same way. You want your community to have a positive reputation since it is a reflection on you. This will help you succeed as well. When you look around at the events that are organized by our community, like the Acompora event, makes me proud to be part of the East Northport Community. - Stefanie Francis 51

y future goals are to keep working hard to make these last few years at Northport High School memorable, both academically and as a member of the Northport Varsity Lacrosse team with amazing teammates who I am lucky to call my friends. The word ‘team’ to me means a family of people who are there to make you a better person while playing a sport you love. It’s a group of girls who all understand we have a common goal and support each other unconditionally to try and achieve it. The Northport Varsity Lacrosse team has made me someone who shouldn’t be afraid to take risks. Coach Rose always says it’s okay to make mistakes, you just have to learn from them. It has taught me that you have to work hard to go far and nothing comes easy. The captains this year have done an outstanding job at keeping everyone motivated while being great role models to look up to. They have taught us that there are no excuses. My family has taught me to believe in myself and to fight for what I want. They inspire me to work hard everyday and to never let people’s opinions stop me. They are my number one fans always cheering me on and telling me to go out and do my very best even when I’m tired. My goal is to keep working hard so hopefully I am able to have the opportunity to keep playing the sport I love in my college years. For the last several years I have been involved with a group at Northport High School called Our Town. We do many events to help our community including doing multiple food drives at the local food store and having a toy drive for the Toys for Tots Foundation. I would also love to participate in more community events that would help local Northport families in need. - Taylor Gilchrist 55

y name is Chloe Hoschel. I am a sophomore, and play defense on the Northport Girl’s Varsity Lacrosse team. I aspire to be the best lacrosse player that I can be throughout my remaining high school years and throughout my 4 years of college lacrosse. What does the word ‘team’ mean to me? Well, that’s an easy question to answer. Thanks to the girls on my lacrosse team this season, I can assure you that the word ‘team” means family. When I say family, I mean literally. In a family, “Nobody gets left behind”, right? That is exactly what happens on our team. We are all sisters, and always have each other’s backs on the field and off. My team has influenced me into being a confident, respectful, and responsible individual. My family has helped me develop all of these traits as well. My parents always get me everywhere I need to be on time and ready to go. My family always comes to every game and tournament to support me on the field. Yes, I intend to continue this sport throughout my college career. In fact, I am verbally committed to Stony Brook University for women’s lacrosse. I can make the community a better place by doing fundraisers for various causes with my lacrosse team. They are my best friends. - Chloe Hoschel

i my name is Bella Hubbard also known as Hagriona. I am #36 and I play defense. This is my second year playing on this team. This team and lacrosse in general is a huge part of my life. This team better known as my family is 31 girls who are extremely close. This year we have all made bonds throughout the season which will be hard to forget. The term team to me has more than one meaning. I associate it with an army; they all need to have each others backs and know each others strengths and weaknesses, they work together as one. The team this year has changed me to try and achieve more personal goals for myself. They also have taught me to not be a selfish player and to look for opportunities throughout games. I have learned so much from the upper classmen and I am so grateful to be able to say I have played with some of the most talented girls on Long Island. My future goal is to be able to come back to Northport and say that I have affected this town and lacrosse program in multitudes of ways. After high school, I hope to be able to move on and play in college with many other young and talented girls like my teammates today. Without the help and support of my family I most likely would have never been on this team. They pushed me and inspired me to tryout and work my hardest to be a part of the varsity team. From the coaches to the parents every one in this team has given back to me and the rest of the girls, I hope to be able to encourage or even inspire some younger girls to work as hard as this team does in hope of them changing the name of Northport Girls Lacrosse. - Bella Hubbard

y name is Haylee Kuprianchik, I’m a sophomore on the Northport High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse team and I wear #5 on the field. As a returning member to the team I am still extremely excited and honored to be apart of something as great as this team. I’m a midfielder and this will be my seventh year playing lacrosse. As I go through high school playing sports all year round, my desire to pursue lacrosse in college is always growing. Throughout my seven years of playing not only lacrosse but many other sports, I have been on different teams and have had different coaches along the way. Each team redefining what the word “team” means to me. Throughout the past two years on this team as an underclassmen, I have learned discipline, dedication and especially learning that great things do not come easy and you must work for them. Being on this team has made me a more focused and motivated person on and off the field. This team has made an enormous impact on my life providing me with a support system of 32 girls that I consider family. As a team we all push each other to be our best selves whether it’s screaming encouraging words from the sidelines during an intense game or during that last 30 seconds of a game when you just want to give up and you have a teammate encouraging you to keep pushing. We always have each others back and help each other overcome adversity, helping us to overall achieve greatness as a unit. All teams come face to face with adversity one time or another, but it is how you overcome it that really matters. As far as myself, some of my future goals include: maintaining a high academic standing, claiming a starting midfield spot on the varsity team, and hopefully committing to play lacrosse at the higher level in college, but I can not achieve these goals without the other driving force in my life that helped mold me into the person I am today, my family. My mom and dad from day 1 have always had my back and supported me in any and all of my endeavors, as an athlete especially. Both my parents are constantly riding me to be my absolute best in everything I do. They have taught me to never settle for anything but the best and to always work your hardest because your hard work will always pay off in the end. Without this extra push from my parents I don’t know where I would be today. - Haylee Kuprianchik

y name is Natalie Langella. I am #13 and a senior captain on the Northport Varsity girls lacrosse team. My future goals are to graduate college and become a physicians assistant. Being on the lacrosse team has strengthened my overall individual character both on the field, and off. I have learned that to be a team player means working through adversity when challenges are thrown our way, and also being given the happiest memories when we win big games. The word “team means a lot more than the individual character I have strengthened. It is about all of these individuals coming together to accomplish a common goal, and ultimately that is winning. To achieve this, we have learned the importance of bonding off the field to strengthen the chemistry we form as a team on the field. This has led me to become an athlete that perseveres, and is always determined, whether it be at practice or in games. My family has also contributed to the athlete I have become today. My dad has never missed one of my games, and is always the person I look for in the stands game after game. He shows me what I can do to improve my game, and is always there to boost my morale. My sister, who also played college lacrosse has led me to become the individual I am on the field. I look up to her as my role model because she always gives me tips on how to improve my game and improve my mentality. My mom has always taught me the importance of mental toughness. She knows that being an athlete sometimes brings you challenges, but to overcome these challenges is what makes you a stronger athlete. My future goals are to major in business in college, and to stay healthy and active in sports. I play field hockey as well as lacrosse and plan to continue both sports in college at a higher level. The girls on this team are unimaginably close and are all such hard workers. Because of this team, I am not afraid to be the person I am today. My coaches and teammates influence me in every way possible and they have taught me that a team’s individuals may be strong, but the team as a greater whole is unstoppable. I grew up in a family of lacrosse players and they are all so important to me and have had an impact on my life. My parents and siblings are the most supportive, caring and motivating bunch of people you’ll ever meet. My big brother introduced me to the game and I instantly fell in love with it. y name is Kate McLam. I am a 15 year old freshman at Northport High School. This is my second year playing as an attacker on the Northport Varsity Girls Lacrosse team, but I have been playing lacrosse ever since I was in kindergarten. I also play on the Long Island Yellow Jackets. I will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall of 2020. Lacrosse has been a big part of my life. My dad is in the Hall of Fame at Johns Hopkins University for playing Lacrosse and Football, and my little siblings play lacrosse as well. I also play on the Varsity Field Hockey team, and played on the JV girls basketball team as well my freshman year. I had a lot of fun my freshman year of High School. My most important goals for the future include becoming a Teacher/ Professor and a better lacrosse player. I would like to go into the field of Education in college, and take the steps of becoming an educator after college. With the help of my High School coach, Coach Rose, my Yellow Jackets coach, Coach Curcio, and my coach at Stony Brook, Coach Spallina, I hope to continue learning the game, work hard and escalate my skill level. The word “team” to me means that all the members of a team should work together. Coach Rose says, “play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back.” Team means one, we should all play together as one and cooperate with each other to make us better lacrosse players, better teammates and better people. My team has influenced me to become the person I am today because they challenge me to be the best I can be. Playing with players that are at a high level only makes me better. We support each other on and off the field. I am starting to come out of my shell, and branch out to all of my teammates. Communication is important. My family has influenced me to be the person I have become because they have so much faith in me. They guide me with everything I do, and always help me to become more confident. They are my biggest supporters, on and off the field. They push me to be the best I can be, whether it’s in school, lacrosse, or as a person. They believe in building good character and the importance it plays in life. In college, I will be playing D1 Lacrosse with some other very good players, and a very good coach. I will continue to work hard, contribute, and learn all that I can. I am looking forward to growing as a person and as a player. Recently I traveled to Nicaragua to assist those in need by building homes and irrigation systems, inoculating animals and teaching lessons to underprivileged children in local schools. I will continue doing community service projects in my own community. By spreading kindness, positivity, and helping others, everyone benefits. Paying it forward makes everyone feel good, and feel positive. We all have the power to help many people succeed at whatever they put their minds to. y name is Katherine Meyer and I’m a junior attacker. One of my goals for the future is to win a county championship before I graduate. The word “team” means a lot to me. A group of girls, with an unbreakable bond that all have each other’s backs. A team is selfless that works together to achieve their goals. My teammates have taught me so many important lessons that I will have for the rest of my life. My team has taught me how to always work my hardest and put the team before myself. I have been playing lacrosse for many years and my family has always supported me in my lacrosse career. My family has always pushed me to achieve my goals and be successful and I’m very thankful for their guidance. I am very honored to say that I will be continuing my lacrosse career and I am committed to play division 1 lacrosse at Iona College. - Katherine Meyer

y name is Claire Morris, #39 for Northport Varsity Girls Lacrosse. I am a sophomore goalie in my fourth year on varsity. I think of myself as a fierce competitor and a dependable teammate. I love playing in the goal as it allows me to challenge myself individually. That being said, a goalie is only as good as the defense that plays in front of her. I have an awesome defense that I love playing with! This team has influenced who I am because being on this team has taught me so many lessons. It has taught me things such as determination, hard work, and how to have grit. My family has impacted me tremendously... The reason I started playing lacrosse was because I wanted to be like my brother, and now it is my favorite thing to do. My dad has spent endless hours helping me become the player I am today. Without my parents, I wouldn’t have been a successful player. They sacrifice multiple summer weekends that could be spent with friends, but instead they cheer for my Yellow Jackets team on a scorching lacrosse field. My lacrosse career will not be ending with high school as I will be going on to attend The Ohio State University for lacrosse. To me, team is synonymous with family. We are there for each other through good and bad, hopefully more good than bad… In the end it is about winning-- but the relationships we forge and the lessons we learn together, are a very close second… - Claire Morris 101

y name is Arielle Pastore and I’m a senior captain for the Northport Girls Varsity Lacrosse team. I’m number 21 on the field as a defender and I have been that number since I started lacrosse as a little girl. My future goals involve me studying physical anthropology in the hopes of working in science when I’m older and graduate college. The word “team” takes on a lot of meaning for me, but it most importantly means family to me. A team is a family that sticks together no matter what is thrown at them and this season is a clear representation of that. This season proved that family doesn’t end in blood and that we all have a role to play in the success we earned. This team taught me a lot of things this season. I learned how to be more of a leader and how to overcome adversity with the help of others. My family helped me become the person and player I am today greatly and I’m thankful for that every day. My parents are my number one fans in the stands and I can always count on them being there for me every game. My dad especially immersed himself in my training and was always there for me to pick me up after a bad game or to pump me up after a good one. I look to the stands every game and see him there smiling and waving cheering for the number I wear proudly. My sister Ava also inspired me to be a good role model that she can look up to which has helped me grow into a more responsible person as I move on to the next part of my life. I plan on attending The George Washington University to further my lacrosse career and to study anthropology. I’m so excited to experience the next level of this sport that I’ve been in love with since I was a little girl. To make the community a better place, I definitely can pride myself in spreading kindness and support in hopes that my friends carry on the same traits to other people they may meet in the future. The only way to better the community is to start with the way we treat each other. I will miss this team so much and I’ll hold the memories we shared this season close to my heart. Once a tiger, always a tiger. -Arielle Pastore 113

y name is Ava and I’m a junior at Northport High School. My position is defense and my number is #26. My future goals are to be a physician’s assistant that majors in Neurology, to stay fit, be healthy and be involved with lacrosse. To me, the word “team” means people coming into one big group and working together to achieve a certain goal. A team works together and they work for success for the team, not just for themselves. The team influenced me to be the person I am by many ways. Because of the team, I am not afraid to be myself, give it all I got and have fun on the field. My family is very important to me. They have helped me to be the best I can be. My mom and my dad have always told me to be myself and do what my heart desires. My dad introduced me to lacrosse and I fell in love with the game. My sister Arielle always has my back and she is always my number one fan. I plan on pursuing this sport in college. I am verbally committed to Pace University and I cannot wait to go there to play my favorite sport! I could make this community a better place by doing more community service, helping out the little lacrosse girls and helping out my school with anything they need. - Ava Pastore

I
’m Amber Ryan #33, and this is my second year on varsity lacrosse at Northport high school. My position is goalkeeper and I have been playing this position for almost five years now. My lacrosse journey started in 2012 when I randomly decided to play. My family supported my decision and still supports me now. They mean the world to me and I don’t know where I’d be without them. Playing lacrosse taught me a lot about myself. It made me realize that I was good enough to accomplish any goal I set my mind to. Playing for Coach Rose and all my teammates these past years have honestly been a blessing. You have to practice with the best, if you want to be the best. Being a part of a team made me realize you can’t do everything on your own. No matter how great of a player you are, you can’t do it all. Being part of a team you become a part of the greater whole. With everyone together doing their part, to their best capability, is what makes the team succeed. When your parents told you there is no “I” in team they were 100% correct. My team feels like a family. We grew so much together over this past season it’s unbelievable. This team helped me to understand that even the best fall down sometimes. Being a part of a team means losing sometimes. Losing games gives us an opportunity to figure out what we are doing wrong. Losing is bittersweet because we grow together as players but, being defeated still hurts. What matters most about losing is, how we are going to come back from it. This team has shown me that even if we do lose we can make something great out of it. Winning with this team has truly been an honor, every single player on this team has remarkable talent. Besides their talent they all have great personalities which has made being on this team so amazing. Coach Rose is an exceptional coach, she pushed every single one of us to our limit. She helped me and many others see that we are on the brink of greatness. I can honestly say I’m so grateful to be part of this team and wouldn’t want to be on any other. - Amber Ryan
