The Business layer is about business processes, services, functions and events of business units. This layer “offers products and services to external customers, which are realized in the organization by business processes performed by business actors and roles”. The Application layer is about software applications that “support the components in the business with application services”. The Technology layer deals “with the hardware and communication infrastructure to support the Application Layer. This layer offers infrastructural services needed to run applications, realized by computer and communication hardware and system software”. Each of these main layers can be further divided in sub-layers. The funds raised through the sale of 25 per cent of the company, estimated to be between Dh8 to Dh9 billion (over $2 to $2.4 billion), will be primarily distributed as dividend to the company’s shareholders. Emaar Malls & Retail is one of the high-growth business entities of Emaar, having recorded fullyear 2013 revenue of Dh2.837 billion ($772 million), an increase of over 20 per cent compared to the revenue in 2020.

Quality assurance Quality assurance (QA) is a way of preventing mistakes or defects in manufactured products and avoiding problems when delivering solutions or services to customers; which ISO 9000 defines as “part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled”. This defect prevention in quality assurance differs subtly from defect detection and rejection in quality control, and has been referred to as a shift left as it focuses on quality earlier in the process.
The terms “quality assurance” and “quality control” are often used interchangeably to refer to ways of ensuring the quality of a service or product. For instance, the term “assurance” is often used as follows: Implementation of inspection and structured testing as a measure of quality assurance in a television set software project at Philips Semiconductors is described. The term “control”, however, is used to describe the fifth phase of the DMAIC model.
USING CONTRACTORS AND/OR CONSULTANTS
Consultants and contractors are sometimes employed when introducing new quality practices and methods, particularly where the relevant skills and expertise are not available within the organization or when allocating the available internal resources are not available. Consultants and contractors will often employ Quality Management Systems (QMS), auditing and procedural documentation writing CMMI, Six Sigma, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).

SCHEMATIC DESIGN
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
We’ll work with your program of requirements to sketch out some initial rough drawings. Conceptual drawings without much detail, but showing the relationship of each space to the other spaces. If we were creating a painting, these would be very broad strokes
Once you’re satisfied with the schematic drawings we’ll develop them further, adjusting and refining as we go along. We’ll begin to think about materials and colors as well as more specific details about the building systems like what kind of structure, ventilation, plumbing
Now we develop enough detail so that a contractor could actually build the design. We coordinate the work of the structural, mechanical and electrical engineers to minimize discrepancies between the various systems. We create written specifications that dictate the performance

WHAT ADDITIONAL SERVICES DO ARCHITECTS PROVIDE?
Architects perform other services as well, such as advising on site selection, programming, model making, feasibility studies, cost estimating, renderings, walk-throughs, and more, but the above 5 phases are standard to most projects. You can think of the process as a funnel, starting out very broad at the beginning, condensing.
04
05
BIDDING AND NEGOTIATION
CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION
We help you review the results of the bidding process and award a construction contract to the successful bidder. During this phase we answer any questions from bidders and clarify the drawings so that every contractor is bidding on the same information, ensuring the process is fair
Once construction begins we work to ensure that the actual building meets the intent of the design drawings. We’ll meet the contractor on site at regular intervals to address any unexpected problems as they come up. We’ll deal with any proposed changes and prepare “change orders”

EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR COMPLEX ENVIRONMENTS Coastal environments are transient, continuously reshaped by waves, tides, surges, erosion and deposition. The competing needs of commercial, recreational and residential interests put increasing pressure on coasts around the world. In addition, the combined effect of globalisation, growing energy demand and increasing wealth requires the transportation of goods over longer distance – often by sea. To accommodate more and larger vessels, new ports and terminals are being built, and existing facilities and navigation channels are being expanded. Uncertainty about the impacts of climate change and the occurrence of extreme events means that solutions to these issues have to be flexible and adapted to work in harmony with nature – not against it. THE CHALLENGES Accessing cooling water and process water for infrastructure projects along coasts and estuaries such as land reclamation, construction of harbours and navigation channels, and industrial developments Carefully planning and designing man-made changes to dynamic environments to avoid land loss due to erosion, flooding, sedimentation, and other undesirable environmental impacts Accessing clean and cool seawater for energy production and to operate desalination plants Predicting hydrodynamic regimes, sediment transport patterns, and resulting morphological changes early on to successfully develop shoreline infrastructure projects
