After a two-year break, Miss Newcastle is set to return for a sparkling charity celebration in September 2022. As event hosts, we’re taking this time to mark the upcoming fundraising finals, but also to look back at a sensational 2019…

Each year, Gainford Group joins forces with the North East’s largest model agency, Tyne Tees Models, to host Miss Newcastle. The event, which has been going strong for over a decade, has raised over £200,000 for local charities and is now considered one of the biggest, most celebrated charity events in the North East’s social calendar.

Miss Newcastle is much more than a beauty pageant. It encourages young ladies from across the region to step out of their comfort zones, be selfless with their time, get creative and raise thousands of pounds for local charities close to their hearts.

The event directly pumps money back into the regional organisations that need it most. The

Sunshine Fund is Miss Newcastle’s chosen charity, directly benefiting people right here in the North East, providing the specialist equipment needed to help hundreds of disabled children. Everyone involved in Miss Newcastle - from its organisers and contestants, to those supporting and donating throughout the campaign - are helping each child reach their full potential and live life to the full. It’s an incredibly rewarding initiative to be involved in - and it can be a lot of fun, too!

The wonderful charity work from all involved culminates with a glitzy black-tie final to celebrate achievements, raise more money and crown the winner.

The 2019 event was certainly something worth celebrating - raising a record-breaking £30,087 for The Sunshine Fund, and becoming the most successful event in the history of the competition.

Armed with their yellow buckets, Miss Newcastle contestants exceeded all expectations - drawing on their own individual talents, interests and networks to set up fundraising events leading up to the big charity celebration, including dog walks, pamper days, school visits and much, much more.

The 2019 event had over 300 applicants with 12 finalists chosen to represent The Sunshine Fund as Miss Newcastle ambassadors. The girls represented a number of communities across the region, from Chester-le-Street and Cramlington, to Jesmond, Gosforth and Whitley Bay. Monet Grant-Chowdhury of Chester-le-Street was crowned Miss Newcastle following a night of glitz and glamour at The County Hotel on Friday 14 June 2019. She continues to work with Tyne Tees Models and has vowed to continue with her charity work in the region. After being put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, Miss Newcastle is set to return for September 2022. Gainford Group are once again proud to be hosting the event and look forward to helping a new group of inspiring females raise vital funds for those in need.
