The Obituary of

Smith

John Wiley Smith was born November 22, 1942 in Columbia, SC – to the late Henry Van Smith, Sr. and Eva Mae Wiley Smith. Wiley (or “Buster” as he was known to his relatives and friends) received his education from Bethel High School in Blythewood, SC. After high school, Wiley joined the army and was honorably discharged after 3 years. Wiley married Chlorine Forrest (Smith) August 7, 1964. From this union they had 3 children, Anthony, Deanda Jenè and Chloe Smith (preceded him in death). Upon leaving the army, Wiley moved to Detroit and began his career at Chrysler. He would move up to supervisor, eventually retiring in 1997. Wiley had many interests outside his job – he loved to golf, bowl and fish. He also diversified his income by holding and managing several rental properties in Detroit. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren (Deandre, Destiny and Ari). Wiley leaves to cherish his memory his son, Anthony Smith (Rose) of Warren, MI; 3 grandchildren DeAndre Smith, Destiny Remson and Ari Smith; 2 greatgrandchildren James Wells and Jaden; 3 sisters Dorothy Glymph of Washington, DC; Hortense Pee, of Columbus, Georgia and Quintene Sanders, of Columbia, SC; a host of relatives and dear friends , all of whom joined with the family in celebrating Wiley’s life.
