Celebrating the Life of Sunset:

Sunrise: November 19, 1971

September 22, 2014

was born November 19, 1971 in Detroit, MI – gifted as the 2nd child to Chlorine Forrest-Wimberly and John W. Smith. Jenè received her education at East Bethlehem Lutheran School and went on to receive her diploma from Bishop Gallagher High School. She furthered her studies at Devry College. Jenè was brought up in church as a child. She was baptized under the late Pastor J. W. Watson of the Conquering King Independent Missionary Baptist Church. From there, she would then join the Beautiful Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Johnnie L. Lewis Jr where she sang in the choir and usher board. She later attended the Straight Street Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor David A. Johnson, Sr. As a child, Jenè took ballet and piano lessons - but she didn’t stick with them. Anyone that knew Jenè knows that she would forge her own path. Jenè was very outgoing – she loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved her Detroit Pistons and Detroit Lions. Jenè was preceded in death by baby Desirè Angel Smith and leaves behind her father John Wiley Smith; mother Chlorine Forrest-Wimberly; brother Anthony Smith (Rose); 2 children DeAndre Smith and Destiny Remson; 1 grandson James Wells; James Wells (Marley); best friend Tasha Taylor; Jadey and Isis Sims (God daughter) and a host of nieces (which includes Tiffany Forrest), nephews, cousins (including Phyllis Forrest), family, friends and loved ones.
