Queanbeyan suffered a disappointing 3 point lost to ladder leaders Tuggeranong on the weekend in what can be describe as terrible conditions. These conditions were across all of Canberra meaning that running rugby was hard to come by. At Campese it was a battle of the kickers with Tuggeranongs Andrew Dickson kicking 4 penalties goals to Queanbeyan’s HP Momsen 3 penalties to win the match 12-9. Depsite the result, the Whites still remain in 2nd position but this weekend’s fixture will be another tough ask as they are taking on a desperate Royals outfit. Mitch Douch will make his run on debut for Queanbeyan this weekend while Ryan Jones and Cameron Stanley will come into the starting side. Royals were their own worst enemy in last weekend’s 17-6 loss to Uni-Norths. Royals were unable to get any rhythm in attack and crucial unforced errors cost them momentum. The loss has put a dint in there finals campaign, and as a result we can expect them to come out firing this weekend and look to get there season back on track. A number of key changes have occurred as a result of the loss with Sekope Meke and Jamie Bodman coming into the back line, while Dean Paragalli, Hugh Cowan and Sam Taiseni join the forward pack. Vikings still remain undefeated after a close call with Queanbeyan thanks to the reliable boot of flyhalf Andrew Dickson. The victory see’s Tuggeranong extended their lead on the competition to 16 points and now has confirmed them as the 2014 1st grade Minor Premiers. This is the clubs 5th consecutive year gaining the Minor Premiership which is an outstanding achievement. Playing there last regular season home game, Tuggeranong will welcome back Rodney Iona who came off the bench for the Brumbies last weekend to earn his first super rugby cap. The Owls have secured their first back to back victories in a couple of years after a great defensive effort helped them defeat Royals in a scrappy game. The victory has taken Uni-Norths to 4 victories this year after only winning one game last year. Bhiamie Williamson and David Bennett stood out for the Owls with Bhiamie scoring a double and David constantly pressuring the breakdown. This weekend, the Owls will be boosted by the inclusion of Tom McVerry and Allan Alaalatoa as well as the return of Nick Jones and Sam Rolfe. Gungahlin are now two points behind Queanbeyan thanks to the Eagles 24-7 win over Wests. In what was almost some of the worst condition to play rugby in, Gungahlin were able to score three tries while Wests received a penalty try, which turned out to be the only tries scored in all of the 1st grade fixtures that weekend. The Gungahlin tries came courtesy of back rowers Xavier Duffy, Mesu Dolofoto and Rutikha Illohia, with Rutikha also collecting the Skins Man of the Match honors for the second time this year. Gungahlin have made a number of changes in the backline this weekend with Dan Mannix playing the unfamiliar inside centre position due to the inclusion of Lionel Cronje, while Connor O’Bryne will coming into the second row, with Ben McGee shuffling to blindside flanker. Easts are back on the paddock this weekend after a much needed weekend off. Having the bye has given them a great opportunity to freshen up as they look to finish off the remaining three matches on a high. Before the bye Easts took on Queanbeyan and were beaten fair comprehensively 85-17 which was disappointing for the club especially after the first win against Wests the week before. MATCH PREVIEW Gungahlin Colts went down to Wests 15-10 in one of many close encounters over the weekend. The loss has the Eagles in 6th spot but still in contention for the finals as they are only 2 points outside the four. Easts received a much need break after their 70-0 thrashing by Queanbeyan in RD 10. However this weekend provides a great opportunity for Easts to get there first win as the last time these two played, Eagles won 15-0.
The Eagles escaped with a 6-5 victory over Wests in another round 11 scrappy fixture. The win has propelled Gungahlin to be on equal competition points with Queanbeyan in second places and a really opportunity to finish in the top 2. Easts on the other hand, had to forfeit there previous fixture against Queanbeyan in RD 10 but since then have had plenty of time to regroup and prepare for this weekend fixtures.

MATCH PREVIEW Tuggeranong have further increased their competition lead after a notable victory over 2nd place Queanbeyan 31-10. Securing the win ensured that Tuggeranong will be the 2014 3 rd Grade Minor Premiers. The Owls finals chances took a huge blow going down to Royals 27-0 which now has Uni-Norths 11 points outside the four. The last time these two played, the Owls pulled off an upset winning 14-7 which is still Vikings only loss of the season.
Tuggeranong came away with a 5 point win over Queanbeyan meaning they have surpassed the Whites and now lead the competition by 1 point. With 2 rounds to go after this weekend the battle of the minor premiership is to close to call. UniNorths knocked over Royals with a bonus point 26-20 victory. The win see’s the Owls register their first official win of the season after the withdrawal of Easts.

Currently sitting in 2nd place, the fight for 2nd spot is closely contested with Gungahlin tied on 36 points and Royals on 32. With Royals being only 4 points behind Queanbeyan after their bonus point victory over the Owls, this fixture will be the 3rd grade match of the round.
Queanbeyan were able to secure a bonus point in there 17-12 loss to Vikings. The loss meant Queanbeyan have relinquished top spot for the time being. Royals also lost on the weekend and fell from 3rd to 4th on the competition ladder. Like Queanbeyan they manager to gain a bonus point, meaning they are only 2 points behind Wests. The Whites were the better team back in round 2 when they played, winning 50-12.

Rutikha was named ‘SKINS Man of the Match’ for his outstanding performance in the round 11 clash between Gungahlin and Wests. Rutikha will receive a skins prize pack.
MONARO DIVISION COMPETITION FIRST DIVISION: The match of the round between Cooma and Hall was not as close as first thought as Cooma produced one of their better performances of the year to down Hall 55-22. While Hall did manage to secure a 4 try bonus point, it is there second loss in a row and as a result has dropped out of the top four. The win for the Red Devils has elevated them to fourth on the ladder due to their better for and against. Cooma and Brumbies Provincial Representative Ryan Morgan starred scoring 15 points with the boot, while two Cooma players crossed for double. Hall did come home with the competition points in 2nd grade taking an easy 53-5 victory thanks to two hatricks from Halls outside backs. The other match in round 10 was between Yass and ADFA at Yass. ADFA continue to stay in the top four after a hard fought 19-7 victory. If Yass can string together a couple of wins they are still an outside chance at making the finals, but it will be tough with 4 rounds to go. For ADFA, they need to continue winning. This weekend is a competition bye for 1st Division however Cooma and Yass will be playing there rescheduled round 2 matches in Cooma.
SECOND DIVISION: The top of the table clash between Crookwell and Taralga was everything we expected. Both teams fought very hard but in the end a superb defensive effort from Taralga saw them come away with an 18-3 victory. Taralgaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s fly half Joel Croker was a standout scoring a try and kick one conversion and two penalties for a personal tally of 13 points. The win now has Taralga 4 points clear of Crookwell and 3 points clear of Jindabyne. Jindabyne made easy work of Bungendore running in nine tries to two for a 55-14 win. The result was a must need win for the Bushpigs as it snapped a two game losing streak. Round 9â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s match of the round will be Crookwell and Bungendore in Crookwell. The Dogs will be looking to bounce back after the loss, while the Mudchooks will be want to show an improved performance after last weekend result. Taralga will take on Boorowa at Taralga, and while it is 1 v 5 Boorowa have been improving every week and is every chance of pulling off an upset victory. Jindabyne have a much need bye which will see them receive four competition points.

INTERNATIONAL RUGBY BOARD Putting Players First ‘Concussion Guidance for the General Public’
CONCUSSION FACTS__________________________________________ • A concussion is a brain injury. • All concussions are serious. • Concussions can occur without loss of consciousness. • All athletes with any symptoms following a head injury must be removed from playing or training and must not return to activity until all symptoms have cleared. • Specifically, return to play on the day of any suspected concussion is forbidden. • Recognise and remove to help prevent further injury or even death. • Concussion can be fatal. • Most concussions recover with physical and mental rest. SYMPTOMS OF CONCUSSION - WHAT YOU ARE TOLD Presence of any one or more of the following signs and symptoms may suggest a concussion: • Headache • Dizziness • Mental clouding, confusion, or feeling slowed down • Visual problems • Nausea or vomiting • Fatigue • Drowsiness/feeling like “in a fog“/difficulty concentrating • “Pressure in head” • Sensitivity to light or noise QUESTIONSTOASK-WHATQUESTIONSTOASK Failure to answer any of these questions correctly may suggest a concussion: • “What venue are we at today?” • “Which half is it now?” • “Who scored last in this game?” • “What team did you play last week/game?” • “Did your team win the last game?” Recognise and remove and if in doubt, sit them out. On field management of a suspected concussion at training or during a match Any athlete with a suspected concussion should be IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM PLAY, using appropriate emergency management procedures. Once safely removed from play, the injured player MUST NOT BE RETURNED TO ACTIVITY THAT DAY AND UNTIL THEY ARE ASSESSED MEDICALLY. If a neck injury is suspected, the player should only be removed by emergency healthcare professionals with appropriate spinal care training. Team mates, coaches, match officials, team managers, administrators or parents who suspect a player may have concussion MUST do their best to ensure that the player is removed from the field of play in a safe manner.
