that do not”. That was a reflection made by the British writer Rudyard Kipling at the end of the 19th century. He most definitely belonged to the second group, as I believe you, our readers, do too. Especially at this time of year. We hope to discover. At the end of the day, discovery, with everything that goes with it – amazement, interest,
deeper understanding, learning – is the main reason to travel. A place, an encounter a flavour, a situation which justify the effort, the expense and the time taken in reaching a new destination. This edition contains many suggestions of places in Europe to help our readers enjoy the summer in the Old

he Corinthia Prague sits on one of the hills of the city offering an unrivalled view of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beneath us, the magic of the spires of the Gothic buildings alongside the imposing forms of buildings in a Romantic style. Around them are neoclassical buildings, ones from the modernist movement, and contemporary architecture, like the tower that houses the hotel. A few minutes from the city’s main tourist sites and business locations – between the Vysehrad Park, Wenceslaus Square and the Pankrac business district – the Corinthia Prague is the perfect destination, either for business or for pleasure. From arrival to departure, the service showcases the group’s personnel’s excellent training. The staff, discreet and efficient, takes us to our suite in a few minutes … and Prague lies at our feet. A stop at the Blue Note Bar for a glamorous aperitif with live music, and then dinner at The Grill, where diners at the barbecue can enjoy a panoramic view while food is cooked in front of them. Fans of oriental cooking will appreciate the Rickshaw, an award-winning restaurant, that brings together the best of the cuisine of the Far East. In the morning, we have a last look at this magical city, read newspapers on the iPad with the Press Reader app supplied by the hotel, and then go to the airport.

Our journey allows us to discover Mitteleuropa classicism through a slow modernity, in which times are set by the flow of nature. The grand southern offshoots of the Pannonian plain accompany us, led by the tall spire of the “Katedrala”, along the route to reach Osijek. Settled on the southern bank of the Drava river, just before it joins the Danube, Osijek immediately appeals to us with its Baroque, fortified heart. Going along the Drava, we then reach the old city, with its elegant Art Nouveau buildings and the Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Mitteleuropa architecture and natural parks are the two elements which guide our visit to Slavonia. A land that is modelled by the flow of its three great rivers: the Sava, the Drava and the Danube. The experience of travelling through the mosaic of Slavonia continues to Đakovo. Architectural traits are a good witness to the historical legacy here: the ancient Ottoman mosque of Ibrahim Pasha transformed into the All Saints’ Church; the breeding of horses that were first Arab, then carthorses and then – since the 19th century – Lipizzaners; the majestic neo-Gothic cathedral.
