ABOUT US WELCOME TO WOODLANDS NURSERY!

THE RIDINGS’ FEDERATION OF ACADEMIES

We are a community based early years setting within the Woodlands Primary Phase of Yate International Academy. Our Nursery aims to provide, high quality early years provision for 3-4 year olds. Our learning community gives our youngest explorers the opportunity to build a solid and secure foundation to their ‘building blocks’ of learning.

The Ridings’ Federation of Academies supports the learning and development of over 2,700 students in Bristol and South Gloucestershire through Yate and Winterbourne International Academies, Woodlands Primary Phase, Woodlands Nursery and The Ridings’ Federation Sixth Form.

This is done through involving you as partners in your child’s development and progression throughout their academic journey with us. Each child will have daily access to a vast range of exciting and playful experiences, within a language rich environment. This gives us the basis to support your child to become a confident communicator, a magical mover and an empowered individual. Your child will have experienced the essential skills to be prepared for life-long learning.

The Federation was established in 2009 with the core purpose of raising and sustaining educational standards. Since then over £35 million has been invested in new facilities which will ensure that our students benefit from the best state-of-the-art educational resources available. With such close support from Woodlands Primary Phase, Yate International Academy, and the Ridings’ Federation’s business partners, we can offer some innovative and exciting activities and best practices in childcare. Thanks to this support, our team are committed and passionate about caring for your child.

BUILDING YOUR CHILD’S FUTURE TOGETHER

Absolutely love W oodlands Nursery and the way it’s managed. My so n looks forward to attending. Great work!

DAY IN THE LIFE Our nursery day runs in two 3-hour sessions: 8:40-11:40am and 12:20-3:20pm. We also offer lunch club for children who are staying all day. ON ARRIVAL You and your child will be greeted at the door by one of our Nursery Team Members. This will give you the opportunity to hand over any information to the people who will be looking after your child that day. After hanging up their belongings, your child will be able to join their friends to explore the inviting opportunities in the nursery environment that day. SESSIONS These sessions are exciting opportunities to free-flow throughout the indoor and outdoor classrooms, or to visit our ‘snack café’. Children are encouraged to be as independent as possible during these times with careful adult supervision to extend children’s learning and explorations. We also hold short snappy small group sessions which help to build children’s knowledge and understanding through a broad and balanced curriculum. LUNCH CLUB Our children really enjoy our lunch club as it’s a time to sit, chat and form friendships whilst enjoying a healthy packed lunch from home. Children share this time with the adults they have been learning and exploring with during the day and this is a great opportunity to build conversation skills and to learn from our adults. We also offer a breakfast and afterschool club so please ask for details.

DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING The Learning Environment provides a range of carefully structured play-based activities, following the interests and learning needs we develop with your child. These rich learning experiences, across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, are both teacher-led and created by children using their own ideas. Throughout the day your child will have a wonderful time discovering, exploring, observing and creating within the high quality learning environment.

THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE Our provision reflects the four overarching principles of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage:a A Unique Child Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Positive Relationships Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships. Enabling Environments Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners, parents and carers. Learning and Development Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
