Research

Due to the workshop only lasting a few hours throughout the day, research which was undertaken needed to be focused and concise. We had looked at a mixture of images and articles over the internet and in magazines from the library.

1 - Glitch Imagery

For the first brief, we had looked into the topic of the song title itself, and from then onwards looked into things that could be related to it. Glitch imagery felt like the best route to look into as after listening to the track the vinyl cover was meant to designed for we had decided that something fairly digital or computer generated would reflect the tracks tone and mood.

2 - Artist Info and Music

Extended Practice Submission

For the second brief, majority of the research was into the bands previous album artwork along with listening to their music in order to get to grips with the type of music the poster was going to be promoting.

3 - Visual Developments

Using the images we had gathered over the internet and in the library, we started to compile designs for each brief.

5 - Brief #02

For this poster we once again listened to the bands music and tried to reflect it through the design. We aimed to design something which would attract and inform potential music fans about the event, keeping in mind style of the band’s previous album artworks and event posters. Colour variations were tried with the same paint effect.

4 - Brief #01

After listening to the track, we had aimed to design something which emphasised the constant yet disruptive beat of the track and that an efficient way of doing so was through the use of glitch imagery. The images which are glitched were found in magazines in the library.

#03

Emily was tasked with glitching of the images whilst I was working on the line drawing of the woman, which was a trace of an image from a magazine.

6 - Brief #03

Due to time being so short before we had to have everything done this piece was completely experimental therefore I only really developed and experimented with the idea around using a few typefaces and patterns.

Final Deliverables

All of the final deliverables we designed were to the best of our ability working within the time frame that we had, and we had

8 - Brief #02

Extended Practice Submission

Design a promotional poster for ODONIS ODONIS (+ Guests) who are playing at the Kraak Gallery on Weds 18th April. The final design that was chosen for this brief was approached in similar manner to the first brief and we aimed to design something which was representative of the music.

7 - Brief #01

Design a 12 x 12 inch Vinyl cover for Evian Christ’s Remix of Duga 3 The final design we chose for the vinyl sleeve was aimed at representing the repetitive beat of the track along with reflecting the strange sounds that the track was composed of. The use of glitch imagery further pushes the overall electronic sound of the track.

#04

9 - Brief #03

Design a random piece of self directed design of our choice. This piece was the only brief which was not collaborative from this workshop. I had aimed to design something which was fairly simple but not very minimal. Considering that there was no topic or subject given I designed something which I thought would have sparked conversation to whoever would have seen it.
