Come up with a concept and cover design for a new independent magazine. This brief was initially a collaboration with Bobby Jones, Tristan Currie and a couple of second year student as we had to do the workshop with the second years as we could not attend the original workshop.

As the workshop was a day brief research needed to be focused, we all did some research into exiting independent magazines in order to get an idea of what had already been done and what was already available in stores.

Concept
The concept behind Brace was linked to the musical definition of the word, ‘Connects two or more lines of music that are played simultaneously in music. Depending on the instruments playing, the brace, will vary in designs and styles. Brace is magazine about music and travelling and music that is bespoke to that specific location. Brace would initially start in Leeds, and would then expand to other cites, and in years to come even countries.

2 - Initial Final Design
03 _ 2015 and we therefore missed a crucial Me and Tristan had to go pop of 18 the_ workshop part of the concept and design development, and did not really have as much input into as we had hoped.
The initial final design which we ended up presenting as a group was not a strong as I had hoped. The idea and concept behind the magazine was strong but the execution of design had a lot of room for improvement.

3 - Logo Developments
After the presentation I decided to further develop the design of Brace. The main part of the previous design which I thought was not working was the typography, therefore this was something which I had developed further. I had tried a few simple serif and sans serif font for the cover which I thought would have been suitable. As the magazine would be released in different cities across the UK and eventually internationally I wanted the logo of the magazine to be something which was not too subjective or too specific to an given city or the type of music that city was known for.

4 - Final Deliverables
I had aimed to design something which looked more modern and contemporary and something which I thought fit in better with the magazines target audience. The use of photography instead of t images I found worked much better as stronger cover images, and also worked better considering that each issue would be specific to that given city.
