Meeting Minutes ~ September 3, 2015 Members: Kent Hendricks, Larry Horton (hearing “Who’s), Ben Eubank, Corey Bruggeman, Karen Ingersoll, and the fashionably late Patrick de Haan Guest: Harry Short – Rotary Club of the Kyrene Corridor 7:00 AM: Meeting called to order by Corey Bruggeman Invocation: Ben Eubank Pledge of Allegiance: Karen Ingersoll Four-way Test: Larry Horton (3 & 4), Kent Hendricks (1 & 2)… in that order. TODAY’S WORDS OF WISDOM Corey to Harry Short, “If you have pictures in your presentation, it will keep us awake longer.” Changing it up a bit this morning… Happy Dollars first! Larry had a sad $ because his son got in a car accident, but is ok. Happy – now in planning stages for the Casino Night (October 17th) fund raiser with a grand prize of a trip to Cancun, Mexico. 2nd prize is a trip to Vegas. Tickets are $30 per person. Kent is happy that Iowa plays this weekend. Sad $ for the nail in his car tire, and a Happy $ for the three-day weekend coming up to spend in Heber! Harry is happy to be here today. Karen is just happy. Pat is happy that he made it here… really BAD traffic due to an accident. He’ll be missing the meeting next week as he and Bobbi will be headed to Hawaii for their anniversary vacation. Wonderful! Corey is happy that it’s his birthday.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COREY! (The big 57!) We all sang Happy Birthday. Ben decided it was time to make Larry declare a team before the official start of the season… after much hmmm-ing and haaaa-ing, he finally chose ASU. Ben is happy that the Longhorns are playing the toughest schedule this year (with many, many freshman). Sad that Dona is still sick.
Harry Short is a long standing member of the Rotary Club of the Kyrene Corridor, a lunch club meeting on Monday afternoons. He is a Construction Team Leader for Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts Salt River District Commissioner, and enjoys backpacking with friends. Harry joined rotary for 1) Friendship, 2) Fellowship, and 3) Service. He is interested in projects that would attract younger members, and specifically those that don’t require you to have to “pay to play”. Harry has organized a multi-club project with United Food Bank and is looking for a total of 35 volunteers. The date will be Saturday, November 14, 2015 (more information will be forthcoming). Also, Habitat for Humanity’s project will be a two-story house this year. Dates selected are December 5, 2015, and January 9, 2016.
Happy Labor Day everyone! Hope you all have a great 3-day weekend!
