National Security Studies Professor Henrik Schatzinger (coordinator) The minor in national security studies provides a focused study of national security issues in an interdisciplinary context. It is designed for those students who wish to pursue in-depth study of issues such as security policy, intelligence issues, energy security policy, economic/trade security issues, terrorism, WMD and policy, and politico-military affairs. It also will be useful for students interested in professionally related careers in governmental or non-governmental organizations. Requirements for a minor in national security studies: 22 credits chosen from courses listed below (12 credits required, two credits of capstone thesis and eight credits elective). The two credits of capstone thesis will be on a topic concerning contemporary national security conducted in an appropriate department such as politics and government, philosophy, religion, history or economics. This project normally will consist of a 20- to 25-page paper and a 20-minute oral presentation approved by the national security studies coordinator.
