MECALAC ACQUIRES TEREX UK

Groupe Mecalac S.A. signed an agreement with the company Terex Corporation (Westport, CT) on December 10, 2016, to acquire their backhoe loaders, site dumpers and compaction rollers’ dedicated subsidiary, also known under the Fermec and Benford brands. The Groupe Mecalac is specialized in the designing, manufacturing and distribution of construction equipment, especially used in urban construction sites. Henri Marchetta, CEO of the Groupe Mecalac, stated:“This acquisition follows our growth strategy, based on excellence, on the broadening of our range of equipment for urban construction sites, and on international distribution deployment. In Dwarka, in the state of Gujarat, Comacoe (Coastal Marine Construction& Engineering) is digging a trench for a pipeline to convey seawater to a desalination plant. The latest donation has helped buy two more programmable robot systems which students use to enter the robotics competition, ‘Lego Mindstorms’. Hopes are high this year after a team from Alleyne's reached the national finals of the contest for the last three years with their robot programmed to carry out a sequence of tasks. At a diameter of less than 10 µm, it is inhaled and, if it is particularly fine (diameter below 2.5 µm), it can even be respirable. Fine particulates are found not only in diesel soot, but also in heating exhaust fumes and the most diverse of abrasions. Fine particulates are also produced during the cold milling of road surfaces. In order to render these harmless at source, Bomag has developed a solution jointly with ENS, and had the results confirmed scientifically with measurements conducted by the institute for hazardous materials research (IGF) of the Ruhr University in Bochum. Salini Impregilo reached another milestone in the construction of Line 3 of Riyadh’s metro system with the arrival of the tunnelboring machine (TBM) at what will be a major station on the longest line of the massive project. Salini Impregilo, leader of the ArRiyadh New Mobility (ANM) consortium, oversaw the arrival of the TBM - named Jazlah - at the Downtown Station site as it neared the end of its 5.35kilometre journey underground. The Tunnel Boring Machine has already excavated 4.34 kilometres, Salini-Impregilo explains. Line 3, also known as the Orange Line, is more than 40 kilometres long, but only about 11 kilometres will be underground, excavated by the TBM and the “cut and cover” method. Once completed, it will have 22 stations. The TBM has a diametre of 10.16 metres, a length of 100 metres and a weight of 1,300 tonnes. Located near the Riyadh governor’s palace in the heart of the city, the –

Volvo Penta is supplying an 8-liter engine for agricultural specialist manufacturer MTS-Sandei, for its latest tomato harvester. The OEM’s new THV 800 model is the largest yet for the Italian company, with a capacity of 80 tons per hour. The engine was previewed at Eima International Agricultural and Gardening Machinery Exhibition in Bologna, before its official launch in 2017. The collaboration on the new machine follows a successful integration of Volvo Penta engines in three of MTS-Sandei’s other tomato harvesters in 2015.
