The expansion doubles the initial space from 6K sq. ft. to 12K sq. ft. ofclinical and patient care space. The expansion renovation also includes additional lobby and patient entry amenities, an expanded registration area and added patient education and meeting space. Staffand patients will benefit from added fasttrack space, as patients transition into the clinical areas.

Updated Masking Policy

As we further return to pre-pandemic business as normal, we continue adjusting our policies to align with CDC and HCA Healthcare guidance and to reflect the current impact ofCOVID-19 within our communities. On Monday, March 6, we changed our masking guidelines for our patients, visitors and colleagues because HCA Midwest Health facilities no longer fall in the “high” category for CDC Community Levels, which requires mandatory masking.

While easing restrictions is a likely welcome change for colleagues, this does not mean all masking goes away. Here is what does and doesn’t change with the new guidance: Facilities will continue passive screening efforts with entrance signage, handouts other materials that inform individuals to self-attest to their health. Individuals exhibiting symptoms should always wear a mask.

Routine transmission-based isolation precautions will remain in place – as always – for individuals with an active infectious disease (flu, COVID, etc.)

Ifa patient requests their provider wear a mask, this should always be honored. Should our community levels change from low or moderate to the high category, we will act accordingly and return to stronger masking guidelines. The above changes do not alter the expectation for masking and flu vaccination (unchanged guidance here)

Moving forward, HCA Midwest Health facilities will adjust masking guidance, when needed, as Community Levels change or ifdivision leadership anticipates changes. We will communicate any changes with our colleagues. However, our goal is to avoid frequent protocol changes to minimize disruptions for our teams.

DAISYAward Winner: Cayleigh Egelston, RN, Laborand Delivery

Congratulations to Cayleigh, our February DAISY Award winner from our Labor and Delivery Unit. Her nominator said:

"With our first kid we had a pretty rough experience, but with this nurse, we had an absolutely amazing experience. She was very caring, and attentive to our needs and wants, and our desires with how we were wanting to do things more naturally. When our family came to visit, she was very nice and kind and recognized them just by hearing our parents saying our daughter’s name and was very sweet towards our daughter. She showed us that she truly cared about us as people and not just patients, and actually paid attention to the stories that we were telling her about our family. Overall, she’s been a big blessing to our family, and she greatly improved our birthing experience."

"Ispent time with our Neonatal Nurses and discussed the care they provide to our babies. At our level three NICU, our team provides amazing care for our micro preemies. While we never want babies to be critically ill, Iknow they are in good care as our team is best ofthe best.

A special shout out to Lisa Boylan for sharing with me the love that she has for her department."
