RMC Dress Code Policy Communication

Page 1

Dear Research Medical Center Colleagues,

We always say your voice matters, and it truly does. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’re making changes to our RMC Dress Code Policy – just as you’ve requested. These changes take effect May 1, 2023.

What’s new?

As we further strive to maintain a professional appearance for our patients, community and each other, we understand the pride each ofyou have in our hospital and the ways in which our colleagues show up every day for our patients.

You can now wear select RMC or HCA Midwest Health branded t-shirts any day of the week. This includes:

RMC Volunteer, ER Trauma, ECHO, Light the Night, Donate Life, Proud to Be RMC, and branded items from the HCA Store.

A new “Proud to Be RMC” t-shirt was selected and we are excited to distribute at the April/May in-person Town Halls

All attire, including t-shirts, must be in good condition with no rips, tears or fading.

Ifyou have questions about whether a particular shirt is allowed, please reach out to your one-up.

You can now wear new department jackets in addition to scrub jackets. We’ve partnered with Scrub Hub so each department can order branded jackets online immediately. Please see attached flyer for ordering details and get started at this link: www.shop-scrubhubkc.com

These standardized jackets allow for personal credentials on the front with the department name across the back, ifyou choose.

On May 17th and 18th, we will also host an in-person Scrubs Event for colleagues to purchase scrubs at a 20% discount.

Plus, all RMC colleagues qualify for a 20% discount for in-store purchases at Scrub Hub on regular-priced scrubs and jackets, and 10% on shoes and most accessories. Through this partnership, Scrub Hub is also offering Payroll deduct in-store and onsite (badge required) beginning May 1, 2023 to make it even easier. See attached flyer for additional Payroll deduct guidelines.

Our goal is to make it as easy as possible – and more affordable – for colleagues to purchase professional attire.

What doesn’t change?

While these new changes are exciting, we also must continue to present a professional appearance for our patients and visitors. Professional attire not only exemplifies the high-quality care that we provide, it also instills confidence for those who seek our help that they’re in the very best hands.

Therefore, we’ll continue to strictly enforce the RMC Dress Code Policy (entirety on PolicyTech). As a quick reminder:

The standard RMC uniform is scrub top and scrub bottoms in the colors prescribed for your position, or professional attire consistent with your position.

Approved jackets include standard scrub jackets, new department Scrub Hub jackets (link above), 20+ Club jackets, and HCA Store jackets. All other hoodies and non-approved jackets or vests (branded or non-branded) are not allowed.

Non-approved department shirts and non-branded shirts are NOTallowed. Royals and Chiefs (and general sports attire) shirts are allowed ONLY during designated days/weeks and may not be worn any other time. All shirt requests must go through Senior Team for pre-approval. To comply with CDC patient safety guidelines and quality standards, artificial nails (tips and extensions) are prohibited in all areas ofthe hospital due to potential patient contact. All nails must be kept short and not extend beyond a quarter inch. Polish and hard polish (gel and dip) are allowed. Further restrictions may apply in high risk areas.

Any individual who does not comply with these guidelines will be asked to change or be sent home. Continued non-adherence to this policy will be subject to further corrective action.

Thank you for your continued commitment to Research Medical Center and lending your voice for ways we can further improve our hospital. We value your partnership and appreciate your commitment to the care and improvement ofhuman life.

Sincerely,
