WELCOME TO THE VIRTUAL 2021 14TH ANNUAL RHEUMATOLOGY NURSES SOCIETY CONFERENCE! Dear Rheumatology Nurses Society Conference Attendees,
RNS MISSION The Rheumatology Nurses Society is a professional organization committed to the development and education of nurses to benefit its members, patients, family and community.
RNS VISION Our vision is to lead nurses to excellence in the care of patients with rheumatologic diseases.
Greetings! Welcome to the Virtual 2021 14th Annual Rheumatology Nurses Society (RNS) Conference. I am delighted that you are participating in this dynamic educational event that hosts an extraordinary collaboration of the scientific studies of rheumatology, dermatology, immunology, pediatrics, and more. We have curated for you an outstanding faculty of experts, researchers, and nurse leaders, who are eager to educate and answer our questions regarding their newest discoveries and latest experiences. Over the next few days, you will learn about emerging research and treatment options, investigate the constant challenges that present within the rheumatology patient, and engage in discussions with peers and associates. We are excited to bring back many of our favorite conference traditions, such as Paint-a-Picture, daily yoga, interactive competitions with great giveaways, and other surprises throughout the conference. As I reflect on the passion, work, and care that rheumatology nurses, advanced practice providers, and health care professionals exhibited during my presidency, one word comes to my mind: Resilience. Rheumatology health care professionals have demonstrated the ability to recover and adjust to change, while pressing forward for a common cause of providing the best outcomes possible for our patients. In 2021, the RNS has effectively increased momentum especially through our advocacy efforts. The recently established RNS Advocacy Committee developed and presented the RNS Advocacy Priorities at the 2021 Virtual Advocacy Summit. The RNS took action on many legislative fronts to insure that patient’s access to care was protected through awareness initiatives related to drug pricing, transparency, and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). You are the RNS and you are resilient! It has been my deepest honor to serve as your RNS President for the past two years, and on the RNS Board of Directors prior to that. The RNS remains strong and steadfast, even through a pandemic. I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to transition the extraordinary RNS into the virtual space; staying at the forefront of technology and all that the 21st century has to offer. The RNS continues to trailblaze through unknown territories surrounding rheumatology, and I am so excited to do this with you. At the conclusion of the Virtual 2021 14th Annual Rheumatology Nurses Society Conference, it will be my honor to entrust the vision and leadership of this great Society to the next RNS President, Carrie Beach, BSN, RN-BC. I am humbled by your continued commitment to your patients, your colleagues, and to the RNS. I look forward to seeing you all back together again in the very near future. Sincerely,
Cathy Patty-Resk, MSN, RN-BC, CPNP-PC President, Rheumatology Nurses Society
