MEN’S MIDLIFE CRISIS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT & LIFE BY ROBERT RUSHFORD – ROBERT RUSHFORD . COM .AU MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA

Robert Rushford…. There’s a lot of correspondence out there about women’s change of life, but the midlife crisis of men remains a mystery. Men and women apparently both have a period in their lives where they suffer their own respective “midlife crisis”. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/10156725/Top-40-signs-of-a-midlife -crisis-revealed.html is an interesting read and addresses some of the issues I am about to discuss. Many of the male friends in my age group have struggled with their own midlife crisis. Each is different and is manifested in its own way. The friend who left his “perfect relationship of 30 years, to take up with an young bride he just met”, the man who turned to “excessive alcohol

and drug abuse” in order to cope with his depression. The friend “who went broke spending money he didn’t have”. My question is “Why”? What happens to men that turns us into males we would (in different circumstances) have considered irresponsible, out of control or complete “fools”? It almost seems like we want to sabotage our “happiness” in an endeavor to……..”I am not sure”. https://www.webmd.com/men/features/mens-midlife-crisis#1 I don’t profess to be an expert in this field, all I can say is that the condition is real and for those who are experiencing a midlife crisis, they cannot explain it away with rationality. There are ways for Men to avoid the “midlife crisis”, but only if they recognise what they are going through. The above link offers some really sound advice - and is worth a read after you finish reading this. If you are acting out of character - question why. If people recognise you are acting weird - question why. If you are questioning what life is about, what you have achieved, what difference you have made in the world to date - before you quit your job and rush to live in a hippy commune and meet your new bride, ask yourself, “is this for the better?”. Men - we don’t like to seek help, but from a man, a man who has had a midlife crisis, speak up and speak out. ROBERT RUSHFORD MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA www.robertrushford.com.au
