Luis D’Agostino & the ‘Argentinian Connection’

Argentinean guitarist Luis D’Agostino comes to the UK to join forces with British guitar supremo Pete Oxley, ace trumpeter John Hoare and stylish British rhythm section of choice, Raph Mizraki (bass) and Mark Doffman (drums). The music they will be purveying on their 2011 UK tour will be based around the fiery fare purveyed by the Blue Note heroes of the 50s and 60s. In a highly unusual instrumentation, this double-guitar + trumpet teaming will deliver a formidable front-line attack! In addition to some pieces by Lee Morgan and the likes, there will be fitting originals by Pete and John. Admission Price: Standard £10, Jazzland Members £7

Stylish Swing and be-bop guitarist Dave Chamberlain joins forces with Danny Moss Junior on Double bass. Danny plays bass very much in the style of the great Ray Brown. Jure Pukl Quartet

Slovenian saxophonist Jure Pukl leads a quartet of truly international musicians. Michael Janisch, (U.S.A.) bass, Jim Hart, (U.K.) vibes and Herbert Pirker, (Austria) on the drums. Multi award winning Pukl is one of the most prolific and creative saxophonists of the younger Slovene jazz generation, working with artists such as Maceo Parker, Esperanza Spalding, Aaron Goldberg, Jeremy Pelt and orchestras like European Jazz Orchestra, European Movement Jazz Orchestra and Vienna Saxophone Quartet. Steve Waterman’s ‘Buddy Bolden Blew it’ Quintet

Steve Waterman returns to the club with his quintet in an appropriately themed programme of music dedicated to the great trumpet players, from Buddy Bolden through Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis, Clifford Brown and Freddie Hubbard, all taken from his superb latest CD, “Buddy Bolden Blew It”. All the material are arrangements written by Steve, so this will not be mere slavish copies of the originals but a fresh take on some well established classics such as Louis’ “West End Blues”, Miles’ “All Blues” and Freddie’s “Little Sunflower”. Mark McKnight Organ Quartet Featuring Seamus Blake

Since graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2006, guitarist Mark established himself as one of Ireland’s leading contemporary jazz musicians. And an international reputation, as evidenced when he placed 3rd in the Montreux International Jazz Guitar Competition, performing throughout Europe sharing the stage with such musicians as Sam Yahel (Joshua Redmond), Jason Rebello and Jean Toussaint. US saxophonist Seamus Blake guests, he is widely recognised as one of the finest exponents of modern Jazz currently working out of New York. Ross Stanley (Hammond Organ) and James Maddren (Drums). Alan is a firm favourite of ours at Swansea Jazzland. His impressive career has included two years with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, three years with the Tommy Chase Quartet and four years with Humphrey Lyttelton’s Band. Pete Allen is regarded as one of Europe’s most talented and exciting masters of the clarinet. He brought together a musical style and stage presence that has created an enthusiastic following from both the traditional jazz fans and those who simply enjoy happy music and songs for both listening and dancing. Over the years Pete has appeared on many television and radio shows, both with his own band and as a solo artiste. He has topped the bill in those magical homes of jazz, St. Louis, Sacramento and of course, New Orleans, where he was awarded an Honorary Citizenship for his services to jazz music Admission Price: Standard £10, Jazzland Members £7

Pianist Graham’s has worked with the likes of George Benson. He was musical director and the keyboard of Incognito for 10 years, with whom he wrote several hit songs. We have heard him play at Swansea with the Laurence Cottle Big Band. Now we hear more from this talented pianist in a trio setting. Greg Abate With the Dave Cottle Trio

Greg Abate jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer continues as an International Jazz/ Recording Artist with 150 days a year touring the globe. After graduating Berklee College Of Music, Greg played lead alto for the Ray Charles Orchestra for 2 years. Greg ventured out as post hard bop soloist playing Jazz Festivals, Jazz Societies and Jazz Clubs throughout the U.S. Canada and abroad, including most of Europe, UK, and Moscow and Georgia Russia. Greg recorded his first CD Live At Birdland NYC in 1991 on the Candid Jazz Label with the trio of James Williams, Rufus Reid and Kenny Washington. Elaine Delmar & her band

A singer of uncompromising integrity, Elaine’s experience is wide and diverse. Elaine has made numerous radio and television broadcasts and concerts singing with Small Groups, Big Bands and Symphony Orchestras around the world starring with Michel Legrand, Stephane Grappelli, Andy Williams, Benny Carter and Herb Ellis. Last autumn Elaine appeared alongside the world famous trumpeter Wynton Marsalis at the Barbican Centre, in London. Having worked at Ronnie Scott’s on numerous occasions one of Elaine’s high points was her appearance at the world famous jazz venues 50th Anniversary Celebrations last year. Paul Booth Organ Trio

Paul Booth is one of the most exciting and in demand musicians on the scene today. Paul is currently in the Steve Winwood band has performed worldwide with the likes of Riverdance (for over two years), Eric Clapton, Matt Bianco, Basia, Tony Hadley, Eddie Henderson, Alex Wilson, Roberto Pla, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Snowboy, Ray Gelato, Jane Monheit. He is a regular at Ronnie Scotts jazz club in London with his own band and others and has done several UK tours under his own name with the backing of Jazz Services and Jazz Action. Some other jazz groups he has been involved with include Arnie Somogyi’s Ambulance, Sax Appeal, The New Couriers, Mike Garrick Big Band, Tim Garland’s Northern Underground Orchestra.
