The weekend of July 26, 2013 Rockland School of Ballet loaded up the car and headed to Bar Harbor, Maine for the annual Maine Dance Teachers Club summer workshop. Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of dance genres over the course of two days. Teachers from all over the country traveled to Bar Harbor to teach dancers in their style. The board of directors for the MDTC did a fabulous job reaching out and selecting

Angelina Ballerina®, the “little star with big dreams,” will soon be sharing her love of dance with children in Rockland, Maine. Rockland School of Ballet is now an official Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy, and joins a growing network of over 110 studios across North America that offer weekly classes based on the beloved dancing mouseling, star of the Angelina Ballerina book series and animated television program. The 34-week program is inspired by the CG-animated series airing on PBS KIDS and Sprout®, Angelina Ballerina The Next Steps, and it will focus on one story book per month. Targeted at children ages three to six years old, the program teaches beginner ballet at two levels. The Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy curriculum was developed by dance education specialist Beverly Spell, master teacher and author of the Leap ‘N Learn program. Angelina Ballerina’s Voice will guide aspiring dancers through their movement lessons, and the program incorporates music from Angelina Ballerina The Next Steps, as well as custom music

developed by Spell and composer Scott Killian. Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy in the U.S. and Canada was launched by HIT Entertainment, one of the world’s leading children’s entertainment producers, in partnership with AB Studio Licensing. Miss Emily’s Etiquette and

Modeling Institute Give the Gift of Good Manners Miss Emily’s Etiquette and Modeling Institute (EMI) will open this fall with four class offerings for ages 5 through teen! Are you interested in strengthening your child's social skills? Would you like to help him/her be more aware of good manners and self-presentation? Are you interested in improving his/her ability to manage his/her own behavior at home, at school, on play dates, and in restaurants? Are you concerned about peer-pressure and the role of social-media in their lives? While they may accomplish amazing things technologically, are you worried about their face-to-face communication skills? Take this opportunity to enrich your child’s knowledge of good behavioral skills that will enable him or her to grow into the well-refined gentleman or lady that is waiting under the surface. Class highlights will include: ~ General Rules of Conduct/Basic Manners in the Home ~ Personal Grooming: How to Sit, Stand, Walk ~ The Art of Correspondence: Thank You Notes, Greeting Cards, Invitations, Acceptances, Regrets, Email, Texting, Instant Messaging ~ Table Manners and The Important Art of Eating ~ Special Behavior/Special Events. ~ Speaking, Greetings and Introductions: “Please”, “May I?”, “Excuse Me”, “Thank you” ~ A graduation party Our classes will be kept small to that individual attention can be given to each student. This fall we will begin with Level One classes. In the winter EMI will look forward to offering Level Two classes. Our philosophy is to provide the direction and the building blocks that young people need in order to move comfortably through every social situation.
