Bienvenido! Industrial Parts Services Starts New Site in Mexico. ATS expanded its IPS business into Mexico last month with Cooper Tire. The expansion will provide storeroom management, purchasing and repair management services at the Guadalajara plant with a team of approximately 10 employees. ATS has supported three other Cooper Tire plants in the United States over the past four years. “This growth is due to the great relationship we have built with our customers at Cooper Tire and really

shows a great team effort from our IPS, Mexico and FMS employees,” says Mike Waltrip, General Manager for the IPS Division, “The quality of repairs from our Service Center helped to build credibility with the program we offered.” And this is just the beginning. Says Mexico General Manager, Arturo Garza, “We are ready and excited to grow all of the ATS service offerings in Mexico. I am confident we will be as successful as our US IPS team.”

1. If you multiply the number of ATS employees in the UK by 2, how many employees do you have? 2. How many times does the letter F appear in the article about IPS Engineered Solutions? 3. Name 3 things the “Meet Your Teammates” employees have in common (not including that they all work at ATS and are male). One winner will be chosen by a random drawing on July 31 from those who had all correct answers. Submit answers to feedback@advancedtech.com.

One to Watch

The IPS New Product Development Team has been certainly driving innovation for ATS. The team is developing new capabilities to keep the business current with changing technology in order to grow the business and increase revenue. New products include the Parker Linear Servo Motor, the Fanuc Fiber-Optic Digital Servo Drive and the Siemens S7 300 PLC. Service Operations Manager, Dave Gill explains, “The team has really started to cover some ground by developing complex solutions for our customers. They have deep knowledge in this field but continue to learn more every day and provide continuous improvement for the business. I’m very proud of their accomplishments this year.” The team includes Engineers Kevin Bozdech and Tyler Budde, and high school co-ops Beau Brinker and Matt Hobbs. Tyler Budde and Kevin Bozdech

ATS-UK was awarded the coveted “One to Watch” status in The Sunday Times “Best Companies to Work For” for the second year in a row! Nearly 900 companies participated in the survey and award recipients were selected based on eight key indicators of employee engagement. ATS has eight sites with 65 employees in the UK. Pictured with the award are UK Managing Director Derek Hill, Steve McCarthy, Emily Mathews, Gemma Turner, Andrea McDonald and Livi Gillespie. Congratulations on making ATS a great place to work!

Take A Guess Q: How many ATS employees, worldwide, were hired during January - March 2014? Email to feedback@advancedtech.com. First one to respond with the correct answer will win a prize!

“We have team members that come up with some amazing ideas and implementation plans,” says Kevin Bozdech, “ Safety is very important to us. We watch out for each other to ensure that we are doing things in the proper and safe method. We all want to leave at the end of the day knowing we did our tasks safely and with a sense of accomplishment.”

Safety Trained Supervisors (STS) “Our Site Managers and Supervisors play a key role in achieving zero safety incidents. The STS program not only educates but also certifies through testing that our site leadership knows how to identify and mitigate safety hazards. Members of our team that have completed the certification have told me that they are more confident in their ability to create an injury-free environment - that’s what this is all about. I am proud of everyone who has already achieved STS certification.” -Brian Rabe, Vice President of International Operations and HEI

Say Goodbye to ePayroll

In the next several months, our U.S. employees will make the move from ePayroll to Workday and here’s why. Some very smart ATS programmers developed ePayroll many years ago, but no outside vendors support it. It was a great system for an ATS of 1,200 people, but as we continue to grow, we are pushing its limits and that’s just not something we’re comfortable doing any longer. Your paycheck is something we always want to get right! Over the next few months, you’ll begin to hear more about Workday’s timekeeping system and get a lot of training so you’re ready when it’s time to make the switch.

TALK with Jeff Owens

How May I Help You? This summer, the ATS phones have been ringing off the hook. Literally. Since the end of May, ATS has been supporting Caterpillar as their global contact center, averaging nearly 2,000 calls a day. Over 100 ATS employees provide this U.S. support from the Peoria and Schaumburg ATS Contact Centers. In June, we went live with operations in Singapore and this fall, we’ll begin supporting in Portugal. All in all, we’ll answer about one million calls annually in nine different languages.

Continuing to Grow in Texas We are excited to announce a new customer, Stanley Black & Decker (SBD). ATS will help the Dallas plant continue building world-class hand tools and make improvements in safety, delivery, quality and cost. We believe this partnership is going to be a great fit for both companies and we look forward to bringing best practices and tangible results to SBD.

ATS receives the MQ11006 Caterpillar Supplier Certification award for the fifth time! This honor is given for achieving excellence in quality, cost, logistics, development and management. ATS was the first indirect supplier to receive this illustrious award in 2008 and has continued to receive the award since. Caterpillar has over 25,000 indirect suppliers and ATS is proud to be one of only 7 who have achieved SQEP (Supplier Quality Excellence Process) certification.

Recently I made a trip to Texas and met with our customers Dean Foods and Stanley Black & Decker. I will never cease to be amazed at how our talented teams keep these manufacturers running in top condition. During my one-on-one conversations with the customers, I was pleased to hear that they, too, continue to be impressed with ATS. Our new IT facility is buzzing with excitement as we have begun providing Caterpillar’s global contact center support. Everywhere I turn, I see innovative ideas and dedicated individuals – it makes me proud to work at ATS. I had the chance to brag about the great things our employees are doing earlier this summer with the Wall Street Journal – there is a lot of interest out there in learning more about the culture of ATS and the benefits we provide our growing customer base. Thanks again for all your feedback on the ATS Employee Engagement Survey. I am looking forward to reading all your comments and sharing the feedback with you. Enjoy the rest of the summer and be safe. Jeff

He is ranked 8th in Illinois (in his age group which he won’t disclose). Don has been married to Barbara for almost 35 years, has a spoiled dog named Taylor and is an avid organic gardener.

Maintenance Technician II Eaton Tijuana, MX

“Adalberto won the best safety observation in all the Mexico sites in the first quarter of this year and I’m sure that he will win the recognition again. About his character, he is the kind of guy who makes everyone laugh. He doesn’t speak English, but he found a way to have a conversation with Steve Welch during Steve’s latest visit to the Tijuana site about the day he caught a shark with his own hands. After he finished with his story, he showed us a picture of a small little fish that he caught a few months ago. Of course it was just a joke, a funny story – but now Steve nicknamed Adalberto the ‘shark hunter’.” – Alland Padgett, Site Manager

Vice President of Marketing Corporate Office, Peoria, IL

“Don joined our team over 10 years ago. He is incredibly creative and has pushed our boundaries – which I truly appreciate. As Don prepares for retirement in the next few months, we will be looking for his replacement, a task that I am finding difficult because they are big shoes to fill. He will be missed by all as he moves on to the next chapter of his life.” –Jeff Owens, President

Maintenance Specialist Eaton Hydraulics, Greenwood, SC

“David is an integral part of a very talented and dedicated team here in Greenwood. A natural leader and champion of continuous improvement, he performs a key role in our team’s ongoing efforts to provide excellence and value to Eaton, our partner and customer. David is an extremely valuable teammate and an absolute rock star around here. I take any chance I get to brag about him!” – David Collins, Site Manager
