I
by Ronnie Wilson
will be making some changes in my contact information effective August 1, 2015. My photo web site (currently hcsportsandmore.smugmug.com) will be Wilson-Photography. smugmug.com. My current hcsportsandmore@yahoo.com email will also change, but to what has yet to be determined. I will let you know as soon as I have decided, (probably by the end of this month). It is good to be back covering events on a more regular basis. As much as I enjoy the facial expressions of basketball games, I very much prefer being out doors. I am not very fond of the rain, but I can deal with the cooler temperatures. The flip side is in a few weeks the rain will be a non-issue; the heat, however, will be another distraction/hindrance. This season may be a bit easier on me. I have recently developed an equipment bag that contains much less than I have previously toted. I decided, much of what I usually packed was beyond unnecessary 99% of the time, and I

really need only one set of back-up gear with me. Lugging around triple and sometimes quadruple back-up was overkill and more taxing on my body that needed. Some say I am getting soft and lazy, I prefer to think of it as working smarter, not harder. Potential presidential candidates for the 2016 election have begun to come out of the woodwork I do not put much credence into any announcement at this early date. It seems every third republican is or is about to throw his/ her hat in the ring. I will let much of that dust settle prior to pontificating.
The democrats have had their nominee for quite sometime, it had just not been officially announced. I see no reason now why Hillary Clinton will not be the Democrats nominee. There may be a few token other names lightly bandied around, but I do not see any other serious candidates. Elizabeth Warren has been
courted by some of the hardleft Democrats to consider running. She has adamantly denied she will run for president. I take her at her word. That being said, “What if”, Hillary were to select Warren as her vice-presidential running mate? Might that help to consolidate the Democrats or give more ammunition to the Republicans? Hillary is well versed in foreign policy and an advocate of progressive social policy while Warren is very strong anti corrupt big business. That seems to be a solid combina-
tion to attract Democrats and undecided independents. Their biggest problem, as I see it, is to get the hordes of non-voting Democrats to the polls to vote. The down side to an all female presidential ticket is republicans will find a way to make it a sexist issue. They will deny it, but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it is a duck. (It seems I have read that same phrase recently.) Whoever either party nominates will have skeletons and shortcomings. The last person without foibles could also walk on water. How refreshing would be to have political campaigns that deal with issues and not personal attacks. Unfortunately, wishful thinking will not make it so.
