RONNIE’S RAMBLINGS
I
think I may be a two-digit midget. (That is an old military expression describing the number of days remaining on one’s active duty enlistment.) Since I cannot be exactly sure when the boys golf season will finish I accurately count the number of days remaining in this last school year’s coverage. (The golf season could end as early as June 6th, if no teams or individuals advance beyond the sectional, and the baseball season could end as late as June 15th, if any local teams advance to the state finals.) If my math is correct, that means I have between 99 and 111 days until The End of Ronnie’s Ramblings. For now I will consider my self a twodigit midget. To carry the above logic and
4
colloquialism farther, once I get to less than 30 days, I will be “short”, as in short-times, no diminutive is stature, *which I already am(. At seven days, hi will be so “short” is will
need a parachute to jump off of the side of a dime. Finally, on the last day I will be “Next”. Being Next when I was in the marine Corps was an exciting day. It meant I would soon be
back to my civilian life. Being Next for Ramblings will bitter sweet. Bitter because I cannot imagine anything else I would rather have been doing for the last 30 years than what I have don and I will miss the kids, I will really miss the kids. Sweet because I can now address all of those domestic,
house, yard, travel, absence of deadline and mostly, the advertising sales efforts. (To be honest, I did not do as much advertising sales during the past two years as I did with Sports & More. Not that all of my time will be leisure. I will still have my junior sports league photography, an occasional wedding to
photograph and a senior portrait or two to take. I am also contemplating another writing activity that will take maybe 10 hours or less per week, no traveling around the county, no hard deadline and best of all, no advertising sales. Then again, I may just lounge around a lot. As with most thins I do, I will play it by ear and see what develops or not. Now for the silliness of the week Help stamp out, eliminate and eradicate superfluous unnecessary and repetitive redundancy. How do you know when it’s time to tune your bagpipes? People can be moderately strange at times, consider the following: They spend money they don’t have, to buy things they don’t need, to impress people they don’t like.
