RONNIE’S RAMBLINGS

ast week I had a peek of what my semi-retirement may resemble. I had not games to cover during the week and only one of two on Saturday. (One, to cover

To say my garage was a mess is a tremendous understatement. My hand tools as well as my landscaping tools were strewn up against all three

equally stored in disjointed locations and I had 46 grocery bags of old newspapers stuffed and hidden in nooks and crannies. My league photo gear was in

if Tri-West fell to Northview in walls, my power tools were various parts of the garage and the opening regional contest or two if the Bruins played in the regional championship contest; If you saw the front page of this issue, you know I covered two games because Tri-Wet is the Class 3A Regional boys Basketball Champion.) Back to me taste of semi-retirement – I planned to clean-out my garage and re-organize it. I anticipated three or four hours for two or three days would do the trick. I mis-anticiapted. After fours plus Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each, and I have finished approximately 75% of what I had planned.

on different shelving units. The first thing I did was to remove both of my vehicles from the garage and put all of my tools, implements and power equipment and photo gear in the center of the floor, after I swept the floor. Next, I loaded the grocery bags of newspapers into my Explorer and took them to a recycling station. I

figure, since I was going to try to be neat and organized, I may as well try to be a little green as well. With all of my storage shelves empty, I rearranged them along the walls in a much more orderly fashion and stored kindred items on them. I was even smart enough to put all of the photo equipment on the

same shelves and directly in line with the tail gate of the Explorer when it is parked in the garage. I, thus, saved myself a few steps when loading each piece of my photo gear. I have a considerable number of wall hanging hooks and braces on hand, so I installed them and hung similar hand tools next to each other on them. As of today, I am about 80% complete. With some luck I can finish the entire project this nest week. Why U.S. Paper Money Is GreenWhy don’t ATMs spew purple bills? Because of long-lasting dye. When paper notes were introduced in 1929, the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing opted to use green ink because the color was relatively high in its resistance to chemical and physical changes. Also, at the time, green pigment was available in large quantities for quick printing.
