RONNIE’S RAMBLINGS

I

By Ronnie Wilson

t is time for me to get on one of my soapboxes again. Typically, I am not a one issue voter. I try to evaluate multiple aspects of a candidate’s platform and vote for the one I believe will best serve the largest portion of the constituency. This time I am making an exception. This one is my top priority social issue. Actually, without its members, all other social, economic and foreign policy issues are mute; the treatment (or lack thereof) for returning wounded veterans, (all physical, emotional and mental wounds included). The manner in which our government mistreats, hinders and all but ignores the needs of these brave men and women is nothing less than criminal. There should be no need what so ever of non-governmental organizations to plead for dollars to as-

sist those who have sacrificed mind, body and spirit in the defense of their/our country. They have earned any and all support and assistance possible. This country, our government, the same politicians who put them in harms way, asks these people to stand tall in the face of outrageous dangers and peril, then upon their return after having suffered horrific damage are not given whatever assistance they need to adjust to civilian life. I mean ANY assistance they need without some arrogant, self serving and condescending bureaucrat demanding

they jump through a never ending plethora of hoops and delays just to be able to survive day to day. What little assistance they might receive is typically less than top shelf, They deserve the absolute best services and assistance as is humanly possible with little or not bureau-

cratic obfuscation. Give them what they need then get out of the way. In the same manner they gave what this country needed, honorably and bravely with no questions asked. Without their service and sacrifice none of the other petty, infantile, personal aggrandizing issues would be relevant or exist, because our society would not exist as it is today. Politicians - do not tell me how you are going to fix/destroy

whatever your favorite/most abhorred domestic or social program. Fix our injured veterans, and do it today. All of your other blowhard, pompous egotistical blathering is offensive to me and makes you look like the self indulgent, pandering useless stuffed shirt that you are. This problem crosses all political ideologies and belief systems. Do not insult my intelligence by saying it is such a gigantic problem that it will take decades to correct. That is totally devoid of credence when considering when one of your favorite projects, weapons, war, or carpetbagging self-interests needs money and is financed almost immediately. Fix this and fix it now!!!

Pink-Slipped Five recent, purported true stories about getting fired: • A New Zealand office worker was axed for using bold, uppercase letters in an e-mail to coworkers on how to properly fill out forms. The company deemed the capital letters confrontational. • Wells Fargo fired a customer-service representative with seven years on the job after discovering he’d put a cardboard cutout of a dime in a Laundromat washing machine nearly 50 years earlier. • A waiter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, claims he was let go after leaving his post to help a woman who was being carjacked in the parking lot. • A fashion model was reportedly fired for being too fat. The model is five ten and weighs 120 pounds. • A Chicago car salesman was shown the door for wearing a Green Bay Packers tie to work.
