RONNIE’S RAMBLINGS

A slow challenge By Ronnie Wilson

ast week was a very busy slow week. Actually, the week was slow, Saturday was...a challenge. Saturday morning I was scheduled to photograph a local youth soccer league. The time frame was 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The county volleyball tourney began at 9 a.m., the finals were scheduled for somewhere in the vicinity of noon or 1 p.m., depending on the length of preceding matches. Finally, girls golf sectional began at 9 a.m. My plan is to go to the soccer league shoot, get it organized and underway. Then scurry to the volleyball county tourney for the championship match. Rush back to the soccer shoot to help bring it to a close. Then scamper to the golf sectional to cover the last few golfers there. I hope this works. I will let you

4

know. Things did not go as planned. One of my league associate photographers needed to leave about three hours prior to the end of the shoot. That meant I needed to finish shooting his portion of the league. Shooting the later part of the league meant I could not get away to cover volleyball and golf. It is now Thursday morning, I am not sure what I am going to do. I will keep you posted. OK, I managed to get things done. I covered the league shoot and managed to get photos of golf and volleyball from some hobbyist photographer acquain-

tances of mine. Another potential minor disaster averted. Once more, I want to thank all of you who reached out with concern of my well being after my car wreck a few weeks ago. It was very touching and I am

humbled. Thank you. This is the second issue of Ronnie’s Ramblings (RR) since said mishap. My injuries were not outwardly visible, sort of I suffered a bit of whiplash and a concussion. My vehicle was struck in the rear by a pick-up truck traveling around 35 - 40 MPH. I needed to make a rapid stop due to a vehicle turning left in front of me. The pick-up truck behind me did not react as quickly as needed; thus the

impact. I was unconscious at the scene for an undermined length of time and was somewhat incoherent and non-responsive. The police on the scene would not let me drive home and insisted I be taken to a hospital for examination. A CT scan was preformed and all looked normal and I did not feel badly. Over the course of the next few days I began to ache and have significant pain across my shoulders, neck and lower back. I also began to exhibit symptoms of concussion. I attempted to cover a couple of events a few days after the accident, but my work suffered considerably. The images were poorly composed and there was an inordinate number of

images that were out of focus. I was also exhausted by the end of the evening. I decided it was time to take an extended rest. My family doctor and a concussion specialist both subsequently confirmed the concussion. More goofy laws... Arizona - In Glendale it’s illegal to drive a car in reverse. -In Globe it’s illegal to play cards in the street with a Native American. -In Maricopa County no more than 6 girls may live in any house. -In Tombstone it’s illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than 1 missing tooth visible while smiling Thank you again for all of our support and well wishes, it/they are greatly appreciated and aid in my ongoing recovery.
