Recommended tests for breeding:
Annual CAER certification.
CAER is deferred for 2024 due to Ophthalmologists are not available to provide the test except in clinics where available.
The Board is continuing the Breeders’ List under the following criteria:
• Member for at least one year (as per litter listing)
• All litters posted on the Available Puppies webpage (where all health testing is provided) ($20.00 per litter)
• All puppies sold with New Puppy Membership ($1.00 per puppy, note breeders have the option of having the puppy owner pay for this)
• All puppies registered with the CKC by the breeder
• When a bitch is owned by two or more breeders, all breeders have to be members of the PWDCC in good standing. The exception to this rule is if the co-breeder is a resident of the United States or other international location.
• Any stud dog owned or co-owned by someone on the breeder list must only breed with breeders where the bitch is fully health tested
Non-compliance, checked by CKC stud dog directory released typically in August the following year, will result in immediate removal from the PWDCC Breeder List with no refunds.
Non Compliance consists of:
• Not reporting a litter.
• Not individually registering puppies in a litter that is registered.
• Not registering a litter
Additionally, “oops” litters, an accidental breeding, where health testing is not complete will be handled
• 1st oops litter, must be reported
• 2nd oops litter, removed from the list for minimum of 6 months or the remainder of the year.
• 3rd oops litter, no longer eligible.
The Board approved some modifications to the Buyer Beware section of the website, removing the number of litters considered to be ethical.
In the PWDCC Code of Ethics section 2 Breeders: “register all tests in the PWDCA Health and Litter Log (https://hll.pwdca.org/tblmember/sign_in).”
The PWDCA HLL database is non-functioning and is being replaced by the PWDCA with the Berner Garde system. Once the new system is operational, the Board will review PWDCC’s participation in the database.

Summer has finally arrived here in New Brunswick, my favorite time of year. I love the long, lazy dog days of summer and all the fun they bring. For me, the highlight is waterwork with the dogs. It's the perfect time to grab the bumpers, float line, and buoys, and head down to the beach.
As I mentioned earlier, we have a record number of approved water trials this year. You can find all the details on our website at www.pwdcc.org, including information on the Ontario water camps. A big thank you to everyone involved in organizing these events.
Beyond waterwork, our dedicated and hardworking National Specialty committee has been busy coordinating the logistics for our Specialty — a significant undertaking! While we couldn’t organize a water trial in conjunction with the show this year, there are still plenty of opportunities to participate in a scent trial, rally, obedience, and, of course, conformation.
After our Board of Directors meeting in June, we will be taking a break in July and August, with plans to reconvene on Zoom in September. However, we will remain available during the break to address any urgent issues.
Important Reminder: The PWDCC Annual General Meeting will be held on October 29th at 7:30 PM EST. Please mark your calendars. Reports will be circulated to all members in September.
I hope you have some fun summer plans and can take a break from your busy schedules to enjoy time with family, friends, and your dogs. In August my dogs and I will be taking a road trip to Ontario to compete in the trials and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with friends who share my passion for waterwork. I'm also excited to spend time with three of our Board members who will also be involved in the trials.
Whatever your plans may be, I wish you a most enjoyable season, whether you're in or out of the water. I hope to see many of you on October 29th!

N AME : Seabury Vulcan Good Vibrations, “Brian Wilson”.
N ICK N AMES : The Baby, Brian, the first name only is just not right, I’m getting bigger, and please use my FULL name! In the litter I was known as mini Tay Tay, for obvious reasons, as I most resembled my dad, Taylor, who is known as Tay, or Tater Tots or just Tots.
DATE O F B I R T H : April 29, 2024.
L EADE R O F M Y PACK : Mr. Franklin, who I address as Sir, even if he’s my grandpa. I try to be a good boy and not bug him too much, but those ears are so tempting.
E D U CATI ON : Well so far it’s been Puppy Culture and now I’m getting into the basics, sit, down, come, off and starting roll over. Apparently, leash walking is coming soon.
L EIS UR E T IME ACTI V ITIES : Hanging with my cousin Brisa, she’s lots of fun to play with, we chew on those yummy crocs, zoom in the yard and pull on the dog beds.
P ET P EE V E : Waiting for my dinners, why is the service so slow?!
FAVOUR ITE N ON - C ON S U MAB L E : Grass is the latest, it somehow comes back out. Recently discovered the planter pots, not well received! I got yelled at.
S PECIA L S KI LL S : Looking just so adorable, sleeping on my back. I hear I inherited this from my dad, Taylor.
B IGGEST C ATAST RO P H E : Nothing too dramatic, I hear I’m managed so I don’t get into trouble
B AT H I N G A N D G ROO MI N G T OL E R A N CE : I’m pretty good for my baths, and brushing, trimming is tolerable, and if I’m distracted I hear I’m a good boy for nail trims. But standing on the table is just a bore.
FAVOUR ITE D ESTI N ATI ON : The country house is the best, our yard is really big with lots of different stuff to explore.
T OY S O F C HO ICE : Any fuzzy toy that Brisa and I can play tug with and, of course, bullies.
M O ST A S H AMED O F : Getting Roslyn up at 3:30am as I was hurling in my crate. And a few errant pees on the rug.
M O ST P ROU D O F : Learning to be a good boy, sleeping in my crate, travelling quietly in the car, all the stuff a pup has to learn to live in polite society. AND LEARNING HOW TO SWIM!
W H AT I W OUL D L IKE T O BE W H E N I G ROW U P : I want to be show boy like my mom and dad. Dad had a big career in the U.S., don’t know if I’ll do that as everyone is talking about the new border rules. (What’s a border?) And do Rally and Scent like them too, they tell me it’s lots of fun.
Brian Wilson lives in Toronto and Grafton Ontario with the Seabury pack, Roslyn Eskind and Leo Hui, his breeders/owners.

On behalf of myself and The Ontario Water Trial Committee, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the Ontario Land Training Workshops May 11th! Both the Beginner and the Advanced level dog/handler teams were impressive!
This year we did two Beginner Sessions and one Advanced Session.
We would really like to commend The Beginners, as it was clear that you all have invested a lot of time into the training and socialization of your dogs! Getting large groups of dogs together in an indoor facility, and every single dog being friendly, well mannered, quiet and SO well-behaved, this was an absolute joy!
We hope to see you all at the In-Water Camps in July 6 and 7th!
I would like to thank our Water Trial Committee Members! They are a wonder ful, hard-working group of volunteers, and without them, the Ontario Water Program would not be possible!
I would also like to thank Karen Matthews and Ann Rob Wilson for helping all day, and thanks Karen for bringing and selling our lovely new club merchandise. Thank you Inocencia Alves for staying until the very end, and cleaning up with me.
Thank you to Sue at canineacademy.ca for allowing us to use your gorgeous facility!
Thank you Lorie Crouch our Instructor, we are so grateful and lucky to have her, with support from Pat Vokes, both who have years of training wisdom and knowledge to share!
Thanks so much to the rest of my committee Joanne Hardy Skalos Angie Frasson Anthony Issa and my co chair Brawna Levy, who could not be there in person, but did all the pre-event organization with me leading up to the event.

Michelle Hammerschmidt tries new activities Hunt Retrieves and Tracking.
While most HRC members own retrieving breeds, participation in events is open to all UKC Gun Dog breeds. There are five ability-based (not age) categories that the dogs may enter in the HRC Tests: Started, Seasoned, Finished, Grand and Upland. Unlike field trials, these are not competitive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place events, but tests where all dogs are judged pass/fail against a “Hunting Standard”. The HRC hunt test consists of four retrieves. Two in the field and two in water. Dogs must successfully mark and retrieve a falling bird at 75 yards. Nokk takes to hunt retrieves as the versatile PWD she is. So proud of these girls.
Crux UTDX Urban Tracking Dog Excellent
A fun track, one I’ll never forget!, lots of wind brings some fringing dogs. Crux followed the flow across the road and insisted about 4 times we are to cross. Finally found the track corner and followed to make couple beautiful hard surface turns. Down to her last leg which now I insisted to her it doesn’t go there! She sure showed me!
Nokk goes back to back with her TD Tracking Dog pass on Nov 5th, now a UTD Urban Tracking Dog.
