THE FOUR-WAY TEST OF THE THINGS WE THINK, SAY OR DO SA LAHAT NG MGA BAGAY NA ATING IISIPIN, SASABIHIN O GAGAWIN
The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages and Rotarians and recite it at club meetings.
1 IsItoitbatheayTRUTH? KATOTOHANAN? to all concerned? 2 IsItoitbaFAIR ay MAKATARUNGAN para sa lahat? Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS? 3 Makapagdudulot ba ito ng MABUTING KALOOBAN at mas mabuting PAGKAKAIBIGAN?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
4 KAPI-PAKINABANG ba ito para sa lahat? ROTARY CODE OF CONDUCT As a Rotarian, I will: 1. Act with integrity and high ethical standards in my personal and professional life. 2. Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect. 3. Use my professional skills through Rotary to mentor young people, help those with special needs, and improve people’s quality of life in my community and in the world. 4. Avoid behavior that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians.
Invocation We beseech thee, heavenly Father, to bestow thy grace upon us, As we strive to restore the vibrancy of our club, the Rotary Club of Cosmopolitan Cubao,
Grant us great hope and faith that we can: Trough Your blessing, encouragement and inspiration: Help us to be committed and engaged Rotarians; Willing to contribute unselfishly our vocation, our skills and talents, wisdom, time, energy and other material resources ; For the service of those who are in need in the society and the humanity. Regenerate friendship amongst us as we enjoy wholesome fellowship with one another: Remind us Lord that you are a perfect Father who listens carefully to his children and desires the very best for them. Guide us in every meeting, in every activity that we do, continue pouring your blessings upon us that all we do shall serve meaningful purpose;
We ask all of these in your Holy Name, Almighty Father.
AMEN

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE TGP Jesus “Jess” de Castro Tumaneng President, RY 2017-18
G
reetings everyone a Happy Mid Autumn Festival which was the subject of our celebration last October 5, 2017. According to history this celebration originated from China during the Shang Dynasty(c.1600-1046BC) as a way of thanksgiving for good harvest and a prayer for good things you wish to have or happen in the coming year. The usual way of celebrating this festival is to meet members of the family and friends; eat together, dance, play games to keep strong bonds together. Mooncakes are the delicacy that is shared traditionally during the celebration, perhaps the reason it is called Mooncake Festival. In our club we hold a “mooncake festival” just like the same reasons; to express gratitude for the good things accomplished and good things that is happening in the club. Likewise we pray and wish for many good things to happen to us. In this connection I would like to thank PP Romy Tan for taking the initiative to chair this event with the assistance of Spouse Amy Tan and Spouse Noi Sanchez and everyone who contributed for the successful celebration.
4
also a special mention to Rtn Ahan Chong and Ronald Ng for the donation of lechon and 5K...thank you so much. Certainly everybody went home not empty-handed and enjoyed the mooncake game. I guess everyone has “hopia” and “ pambansang palaman/ Reno” to take home. To the big winners get ready to sponsor the mooncakes next year. We finished another month of activities in our Rotary Club. It seems only yesterday that I announced my September wishes but time flew fast and here we are facing another month of this RY. Of the eight wishes for September we were able to fulfill six of them is not bad, anyway we still have eight months to go and an ample time to complete our plans and projects. PP Romy Tan did a splendid talk to start classification talk in our club meetings. We co hosted the painting workshop with RC Pasong Tamo Banlat; we participated in dfollowing district activities; Rotabowl, All Presidents Night, Disaster Management Training and next will be to sponsor scholars for Cooking for Life; the club parcipated in the Childhood Cancer

Symposium hosted by RC West Triangle; we have donated funds and deliver the lay out plan for the community toilet for Barangay Camachile last October 7, 2017 and PP William Lo Ang continually works to fulfill our pledge to TRF. Let us do our best efforts to contribute and complete our promise to TRF. Tonight we will be hearing another classification talk from our new member, Rtn Mavin Catbagan. Let us listen to him and know more about him and his profession. He will be followed by another classification talk next week to be given by Rtn Benjie Ganapin. Thanks to both of these new rotarians for volunteering themselves to be speaker in our club meetings.
I hope the others will follow in the coming meetings. This month of October we will also have a dental project in one of the daycare center in Quezon City, continue to compete in Rotabowl till November, , participate in the great walk in the Quezo City Circle to promote End Polio on October 22, 2017. We will also visit Barangay Camachile on October 28 to monitor the on going construction of the community toilet and ensure that it will be completed on the scheduled turn over on November 12, 2017. LET US CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR CLUB AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER......... AND ATTAIN OUR SUCCESS.

TN Mavin David, or Mavs, was born on the 1st of July 1989 to Dave and Madeline Catbagan who are both Veterinarians. He grew up in Tandang Sora, Quezon City together with his elder siblings, Michael Jan Vincent and Leah Katrina. One of the remarkable moments discovered as a child is the ability to read and recall words and places at the early age of three. That is why he always started crying once he recognized that he will be brought to his pediatrician for a regular check-up. His formative years are challenging yet meaningful at the same time. Being educated in an all-boys school, dealing with the opposite sex makes it challenging for him yet his actions always add meaning to the girls. He finished grade school without honors but redeemed himself during high school as he

finished with second honors, from the same school, Ateneo de Manila. Mavin, during his college days (and until now) is still confused on what career he would pursue. He is hesitant to become a performer, even if he knows how to play musical instruments and also sing, because he bore in mind the idea that in show business, facial value matters most before talent. He chose Landscape Architecture, not because he really wanted to at first, but it is the key to make it to UP Diliman (he passed the UPCAT but without a course). It was a love-and-hate situation between him and the course, but knowing the benefits of this profession to the people and the environment, he eventually loved it and is trying to apply the principles embedded on this profession, to his everyday life.

resident Jess and some of the Barangay Council headed by Barangay Chief Joselito Simeon inspect the site where the proposed community toilet will be built. The Club with Pres Jess, PP Jim, PP Willy, PP William, PP Fred and PP Noy motored to Barangay Camachile to fulfill one of the projects the Club pledged to the people of Bgy. Camachile. The Club signed an MOA and handed over the cash to be used in purchasing the needed materials for the construction of the facility. We had our first encounter with the residents of Bgy Camachile four years ago when we had our first Mangrove Forest Augmentation project. Since then The Club have had numerous projects done to enhance the lives of some of the residents. Throughout these years we have assisted them in some livelihood projects like the crab fattening initiative, the growing and nurturing of mangrove saplings which we

bought to re plant in their mangrove stand. This enterprise have grown to supply other organizations planting mangrove in and around neighboring areas. We have also fulfilled our promise to build them a water pumb they can use to source their safe potable water needs, And now this, a Community Toilet. A two room concrete structure which will benefit residents of the southern part of the barangay. This project compliments the Water Pump Project we recently completed. Water and Sanitation on this part of the community is served. The project have been started and will be done in a couple of weeks, Turn over will be on Nov. 12, 2017 and to highlight the fete, students from U.P. will grace be present to witness another involvement of Rotary and the Rotary Club of Cosmopolitan Cubao in its share of alleviating the living condition of the community.

History of RCCC Club of Cosmopolitan Cubao
CHARTERED AUGUST 20, 1985
A
friend approached Judge Constante “Tante” de Peralta one day. His friend, a District Governor Special Representative of Rotary International District 380, DGSR Oscar Inocentes or Oca to friends was organizing a new Rotary Club and Judge Tante was, he thought of himself, the person who can start things moving. So in July of 1985, they started the wheels turning, culminating to the chartering of a new Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Cosmopolitan Cubao. The first meeting of the budding club was held on July 11, 1985. DGSR Oca provided the venue. The Inocentes Farm House, which has been home for the Club over many years. In just more than a month of hectic preparations and organizations, the club received its charter from Rotary International on August 20, 1985. The club continues its meetings every Thursdays at Inocentes Farm House from 7:30 PM onwards. Then on September 21, 1985, the historic presentation was done with no less than the District Governor Fernando “Nanding” Pedrosa as guest of honor and speaker.
